I contain a lot
of answers.
This is Da FAQ. It is one of the four share thread ARCHIVE
DOCUMENTS. It contains info about:
* basic Share Thread etiquette
* how to use shared links
* where to find the other ARCHIVE DOCUMENTS which
have trove links and other important info in them
* how to search troves
* how to upload and download files

BASICS
Read this first. Ask questions later. Like the cover says, if the
answer is in here, you’re only going to waste time asking and
you’re going to be told to read.
Don’t ask for files on the NO SHARE LIST. Don’t upload files on the NO SHARE LIST. The list
exists for a reason. That reason is headaches.
Answers on the share thread like dusty, on the dusty
shelf, in the castle, etc. refer to vola rooms Answers like NO SHARE LIST
OSR or scifigames usually mean go to the trove with
that name or search the ARCHIVE DOCUMENTS. See Microscope/Explorer, Kingdom,

Don’t ask about the TheTrove<dot>Net. They copied Deernicorn)

Don’t post PDFs to the thread (unless they are open Izzy's Slightly Used Airships

posting rights and shut down threads.

WHERE TO FIND THE Ten Candles

Dungeons and Delvers (A
DOCS & TROVES Sundered World )
The troves are listed in the ARCHIVE DOCUMENTS. The Tales from the Loop art book
other documents are Da Archive, Da Curated Archive, (Electric State, Simon
and Da Annex. I suggest reading Da Curated Archive Stalenhag)
next. You can find them all at: r3br@nd<dot>ly
/ShareThread This list is incomplete and will
probably get larger.
Thank the Archivists, past and present, for their work in
creating and maintaining these.
HOW TO USE LINKS
Most links posted are either to a link shortener or to a volafile room. Links containing /r/ are
volafile rooms, not reddit. The most common link shortener is currently: rebrand.ly .
Examples of use: rebrand.ly/myLink volafile.com/r/nameOfRoom
Don’t include spaces.
Don’t write two slashes in a row. UPLOAD SITES
Pay attention to capital letters.
mega.nz (m3ga, M3G@)
CODES, ROOM NAMES AND TROVE NAMES allsync.com
People telling you “in the castle” or “on the dusty shelf” snip.li (snip) (link shortener)
are referring to vola rooms.
rebrand.ly (link shortener)
Links may be written in 1337 $p3@k. Some might be
written backwards or have spaces in them. They’re not hard sendspace.com (SS, $$, @ss)
to figure out. Codes like m3g@ and SS and $$ and snip are mediafire.com (MF)
explained in the box.
zippyshare.com (these start
Most answers regarding links and locations will be in the wwwXX.zippyshare.co
other documents. m where XX is a
number)
HAVE YOU TRIED ...<SOME NOUN>… ? annarchive.com
People might ask have you tried a genre, a game name or a 4shared.com
publisher since that is how many troves are organised.
uploaded.com
“Have you tried /scifigames” probably means a trove or
archive. Try rebrand.ly/scifigames or maybe uploadmb.com
snip.li/scifigames or you might need to look for gofile.io
“scifigames” in the ARCHIVE DOCUMENTS. <dot> of course means .

PASSWORDS AND LOCKED ROOMS

Some rooms and troves are permanently locked. If people wanted you to have the passwords, they
would give them to you. Common places for passwords are in an image in the current or a recent
thread or in one of the ARCHIVE DOCUMENTS.
Rooms and troves may be locked to stop spam. Wait patiently. The owner will unlock it when ready.

HOW TO SEARCH
Use Ctrl-F or Cmd-F.

HOW TO SEARCH INSIDE THE ARCHIVE DOCUMENTS

If you want to find Dungeons and Dragons: look for the game’s name: “Dragon”,“D&D”, “DnD”.
Look as well for the publisher names “TSR” and “WotC” or “Wizards”.
If you want solo game book Fighting Fantasy look for “game book”, “gamebook” and “fighting”.
If you want the space game Traveller try looking for genre “sci fi”, “science fiction”, etc. too.
HOW TO SEARCH INSIDE THE TROVES
Ctrl-F. Open up a new folder in your web browser. Ctrl-F again.
There is a tool that may just help you avoid opening up all folders. Info can be found at
https://github.com/ptrsuder/cloud-folder-browser
and the download for it is
https://github.com/ptrsuder/cloud-folder-browser/releases

HOW TO SHARE
Upload your file to a file sharing site. Make sure your file is clean. Unless you made the PDF
yourself it’s probably watermarked. Post your link to the share thread. Obfuscate your link.

HOW TO SCAN BOOKS

There are many websites that will tell you how to scan books. Scanning probably means building a
special book holding rig or cutting the pages out. You can look those up yourself. Scanning books
can be a lot of work so there’s not really anyone in the thread who scans donations any more.

HOW TO CLEAN FILES

If you don’t know how, here are some who will clean it for you. Please, only send it to one cleaner.

MAYBE TRY IRC

Try IRC. server: irc.dejatoons.net channel: #rpg-books
"@find GameYou'reLookingForGoesHere" should net you plenty of DCC responses to sift through.
You can also try /ctcp options like "/ctcp ps !ps" and navigate the directory. "help" and
"dir" are useful commands here.
If you use mIRC, you're going to have to go into your options and turn off the option that denies a
whole bunch of file
formats, as well as the
check box that turns them
on again after a couple of
minutes. HexChat does not
have this issue.
