Be all that you can be: Counting Coins

Strike
Dear Math Monkey Family:

ATTEN, HUT! Thank you for re-enlisting your child into Math Monkey™. Today in
class we received our first orders of the day and analyzed our skills through a unique
obstacle course to enhance your little bowler’s progress. Next, we light the passion of
our little athletes by playing a fun game of bowling. Blinks Bowling Challenge is
similar to 10-pin bowl, our players gained points with each hit of a pin. Everyone had
fun bowling their way in the mathematical lane. Next, we maneuvered our players
into their new lesson on: Becoming familiar with coins and their value. Next week
in class our little Olympians will get to make a dash for the finishing line in our relay
racing game.

The Summer Olympics 2008 will be our theme this semester with a mission to
encourage our young ones to build a peaceful and better world through fair play and
sportsmanship in the Olympic spirit.

The following is a guide to your Olympians @home assignment (These are

suggestions for parents & children to work on together), along with an actual
worksheet. Kindly encourage your little sports person to complete the worksheets and
have him/her bring it with him/her to the next class.

@home assignment: Bat & give me $25!

While money makes the world go around, Math Monkey helps make cents out of it
all. Parents should have their young cadets begin a piggy bank. Start them off with
only coins. Have your little soldier help count these coins with you, then draw and
label each coin, and record how many of each they have & their value. Then have
them figure out how much total money they have. Moms & Dads are encouraged to
help.
See you grunts next week! Be all that you can be… Find your future with Math
Monkey!
