SCIENCE EXHIBIT REFLECTION PAPER

By: Shaira Mae B. Daus

Visiting science exhibits is always an exhilarating experience, as they offer a glimpse into the
latest advancements and possibilities that science has to offer. In this paper, I will reflect on my recent
visit to an extraordinary science exhibit held on June 1, 2023, Thursday, at Rosales National High
School, Rosales Pangasinan. In this exhibit, we dived into the intriguing world of augmented reality,
holograms, earthquake simulator, robotics, and drones. Each station provided a unique perspective on
the intersection of science and technology, leaving me in awe of the potential they hold for the future.
Our first station was the augmented reality--- it was found in the USA in 1969 by Ivan
Sutherland, this transported me to a world where the boundaries between the physical and digital
realms blurred. Through the use of smart tablets, I was able to witness virtual objects seamlessly
integrated into the real environment. Next station was the hologram---it was found in the Hungary in
1948 by Dennis Gabor, I was captivated by the intricate details and the lifelike representations of
objects and animals. Beyond their aesthetic appeal, holograms have immense potential in fields such
as medical imaging, architectural design, and even communication. Witnessing the holographic
displays left me envisioning a future where realistic and interactive holograms become an integral part
of our reality.
The 3rd and the most exciting station for me was the earthquake simulator, they oriented us
first about the proper way to maintain safety during an earthquake before letting us into the
earthquake simulator. Stepping into the earthquake simulator was an adrenaline-pumping experience.
It aimed to recreate the intense vibrations and movements of a seismic event, giving us a firsthand
understanding of the forces at play during an earthquake. Next station was the robotics, my
companions weren’t so happy in this station due to the fact that we ran out of time due to some delays
and weren’t able to make our own assembled robot run. Still, we had fun and looking forward for
more exhibits like this. Last station was the drone, it offered a glimpse into the world of unmanned
aerial vehicles (UAVs) and their transformative potential. However, the exhibit also raised questions
regarding safety, privacy, and the need for responsible and ethical use of this technology.
Visiting this science exhibit was an eye-opening experience that left me in awe of the progress
being made in various scientific disciplines. From the immersive world of augmented reality to the
mind-bending holograms, the earthquake simulator’s raw power, the marvel of robotics, and the
possibilities offered by drones, each exhibit showcased the potential for science and technology to
shape our future. It reminded me of the crucial role that scientific exploration and innovation play in
addressing societal challenges and pushing the boundaries of what is possible. As I left the exhibit, I
felt inspired and eager to be part of a world where science and technology continue to shape and
improve our lives.

The Rosales National High School science exhibition was a fantastic venue for showcasing
energy, creativity, and knowledge of the subject. But Before Going to the venue we have our first stop
which is located at SM Rosales, We stroll around the mall and have some lunch before going to the
Venue. Many advanced technologies, including augmented reality (AR), holograms, robots, an
earthquake simulator, and drones, were presented during the event. As a participant and an observer, I
was completely captivated by these developments and how they may completely transform how we
understand and communicate with science.

The first station we went to was Augmented reality, we did not join our other classmates
because each group has a maximum of 60 students. Mobile technology enabled augmented reality
(AR) which added virtual components on top of the physical environment and gave static things life.
The Second Station we went to was Hologram, These 3D projections captured the viewer's attention
by giving the impression that solid things were floating in the air. Holograms have the potential to
change several industries, including communication, entertainment, medicine, and product creation.
The Third station we went to was Earthquake Simulator, they teach us first what should during an
earthquake. Magnitude 7 was quite strong enough for you to out the balance You may be out of
balance when standing or possibly be weighed down by things that can be given on the wall. Building
Lego robots is not easy or difficult, the important thing is that you understand the instructions. We
were given 15 mins to build the Lego robots but within 15 mins we were short because we could not
connect the energy source and battery to move the robot. Lastly, The last station we went to was
Drone. We didn't get a chance to control a drone because we don't have any time and also we need to
go home before the rush hour to avoid traffic.

The Rosales National High School Science Exhibition was an exciting trip into the world of
invention and technology. The holograms, earthquake simulators, robotics, drones, and augmented
reality on show were proof of our uniqueness and our constant pursuit of advancement. It inspired me
to learn more about these subjects and left me in wonder about the opportunities waiting ahead. Such
exhibits encourage young people to become future thinkers and inventors who will change the world
by serving as a reminder of the value of science education

For this experience, I was given the opportunity to receive knowledge of the outside world
through scientific tools and instruments. Attending a science exhibit can be a transformative
experience that stimulates curiosity, promotes learning, and fosters a deeper appreciation for the world
of science. By engaging with hands-on activities, interacting with experts, and exploring various
scientific concepts, attendees can broaden our knowledge, inspire our creativity, and potentially shape
our future pursuits.

On June 1, 2023 we went to Rosales National High School for science exhibit. It was not my
first time to go in science exhibit but this time I was so excited. When our teacher told us about
upcoming science exhibit he told us to see and to observe all the inventions over there and make an
reflection paper. At the time, I was considering inventions. I was so excited about it that I was unable
to focus throughout our class discussion. When that day finally came in, I got up from bed early
because I was so excited to see the exhibit. Then when we finally arrived in their school I was so
amazed because I didn’t expect that their school was that big and there were so many students. In first
station was the augmented reality, it is used to either visually change natural environments, in some
way or to provide additional information to users, that invented in 1957. Second station is hologram,
invited by Dennis Gabor in 1947. In third station is earthquake drill, for me this is the most exciting
part, because we experience earthquake like it was real and we though us what to do before, during,
and after earthquake. In fourth station is robotics, this is fun and I enjoy it, we built car robot and
after 15 minutes of building the robot we tested it to see if it works. And the last station is the drone,
we didn’t have the chance to try the drone because we running out of time, but it’s okay because
we’re tired already and we want to go home.

I learned that science fair let students learn, use, and demonstrate the importance of science
and the reason behind why things happen around us. I learned that as a student I need to be prepared
for active learning and given the opportunity to enhance my own learning. Rather than simply
completing a project to fulfill an assignment. After science fair I learned that we need to value science
outside of the classroom and reach beyond the classroom
