Reasoning - What principles of law did you base your decision on?

I based my opinion on the explanation of what allows a individual to seek insurance under the

workers' compensation laws on page 545. Ryder would not receive benefits because as a police

officer, his post-traumatic stress disorder was caused by doing ordinary duties at the workplace.

Ryder was in his patrol car every time he answered a man's call with a gun which meant that he

was doing his duties by answering to the call. A police officer can't predict situational situations.

In this situation, Ryder would benefit from work place-based workplace support services such as

counselling and stress management.
