USB Driver Installation Guide

1, Installing USB Driver Under Windows XP Operating System


1) Connect one end of the USB cable provided with the spectrophotometert to the USB
port on the spectrophotometer.
2) Connect the other end of the USB cable to the PC. The system will detect a new
hardware. The following dialog box will pop up.

3) Select Item “No. not this time”, then click “Next” button to display the following:
4) Select “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)”, then click “ Next”

5) Insert the provided USB driver disk into the CD-ROM of your PC. Select “Search
removable media (floppy, CD-ROM…)” item, then click “Next”. The following
window pops up.
6) Wait for the installation to finish.

7) Click “Finish” to close the wizard.


The USB driver installation is finished by now.

2. Finding the communication port used by USB


1) Right-click “My Computer” Icon on the desktop, then select “Properties” to display
the following window.
2) Click “Hardware” to display the following.

3) Click “Device Manager” button to display the following window.

Click at item “Ports (COM & LTP)” and find item “Silicon Labs…..(COM?)” as shown in
the above figure. The COM port number (as “COM3” in the figure) is displayed. This
port number should be input later as the communication port No. in the
spectrophotometer PC control software “UVSoftware”.
