II. Documentation

TEST BEFORE INCUBATION AFTER INCUBATION

TrIple Sugar Iron (TSI)Test

Interpretation:
The results present a
high concentration of
lactose or sucrose in
the medium which
resulted in a
heightened acid
production, following a
yellow hue in both the
butt and slant of the
medium due to
fermentation.
Additionally, gas
production is evident
because of the
presence of bubbles or
cracks.
Lysine Iron Agar (LIA) Test

Interpretation:
The purple color
change indicated that
the tube went through
Lysine
decarboxylation. But
the absence of visible
gas production, such
as bubbles or cracks
in the medium, implies
that no gas was
generated.
Sulfide Indole Motility
(SIM) Test

Interpretation:
The color change
implied a negative test
result, suggesting that
the organisms being
examined lack the
capacity to produce
tryptophanase

Methyl Red Test

Interpretation:
The light yellow color
suggests a negative
outcome, indicating
the lack of acid
production and
implying that the
bacteria failed to
metabolize glucose

Voges - Paskeur Test

Interpretation:
As there are no
changes in the aspect
of color, it is implied
that the results are
negative. The
fermentation of
glucose did not lead to
the production of
acetoin.
Citrate Utilization Test

Interpretation:
The medium turned
blue, which signifies a
positive result. This
because the blue hue
indicated the utilization
of citrate. The
interaction involving
CO2, water, and
sodium in the citrate
results in the formation
of sodium carbonate,
an alkaline compound,
causing the medium to
adapt the color blue.
Urea Hydrolysis Test

Interpretation:
The reddish-pink color
implies a positive
outcome due to the
presence of urea in
the medium. Urea
presence reduces
acidity, resulting in an
alkaline environment,
thus causing the
appearance of the
reddish-pink color
