ABOUT HIM
He was born in Paris, France
on November 14, 1840.
He loved to draw as a child.
He is now of the most famous
artists of all time.
As he grew older his style
began to change due to his
“Japanese Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies”
failing eyesight. My favourite painting.

Monet is known as one of the founders of the Impressionist


movement.
CHARACHTERISTICS OF
IMPRESSIONISM
Relatively small, thin, yet visible brush
strokes.

Highly textured surfaces.

Open compositions.

Emphasis on accurate depiction of light in


its changing qualities.
The name, Impressionist,
comes from a painting Monet exhibited
Ordinary subject matters. called Impression, Sunrise, his most famous
painting.
