⦁ Consumers: It includes the whole animal kingdom which

cannot prepare their own food by themselves. They depend upon


the producers or autotropes for their survival. They are further
categorized into following types:
Primary consumers: A large population of zooplanktons are the
main primary consumers. Besides these, small herbivores such as
snails, insects, small fishes, tadpole, and larvae of aquatic animals
are primary consumers found in the pond.
Secondary consumers: It includes those animals which feed
upon the primary consumers and the producers such as frogs,
water snakes, crabs, and many others.
Tertiary consumers: These includes top consumers Which feed
upon secondary consumers,primary consumers as well as
producers such as kingfisher,waterr shrews etc.

⦁ Decomposers: These includes different types of bacteria and


fungi that feed upon dead and decaying parts of the aquatic
species.
