1. INTRODUCTION
Faculty of Management (FOM) is located next to the President’s Office, Admin Building, Multimedia
University at Cyberjaya Campus. It is one of the seven faculties in the University. Its aim is to provide and
maintain an environment conducive towards independent learning, research and intellectual enquiry,
with emphasis on the changing needs of the new millennium.
Besides teaching, FOM academic staff is actively involved in research in the areas related to management
and business such as Accounting, Management & Marketing, Finance & Economics, IT, Law & Quantitative
Method. The research activities are currently supported by three Centre of (Research) Excellence namely:
For any enquiries, please visit the Faculty Administration Office situated at the ground floor, FOM
building. The computer labs and academic staff office are located at the 2nd and 3rd floor of the same
building.

The main function of the Faculty Administration Office is to support teaching, research and other
academic activities in the Faculty. Its stakeholders include students, staff and other university centers/
departments and outsiders. As such, the commitment is made to its stakeholders to deal with their
requests, problems and concerns in a satisfactory and speedy manner.
For the students, the Faculty Administration Office ensures that a comprehensive set of administrative
procedures that meets their need is in place. The services provided include a coherent set of procedures
in relation to, and assistance with, the following:
Besides that, the office also is responsible to provide computing facilities to students. This includes usage
of Internet accessed computers, printers and other devices.
Objective
To provide an environment of continuous academic advisory support in terms of assisting students with
correct academic information, advising students on the subjects and workloads to be taken per trimester
as well as advising students on other academic matters.
Implementation
1. Each student will be assigned an academic advisor during the first trimester of Beta level.
2. The academic advisor will provide necessary advisory support, and monitor students’ performance.
3. All students will be required to meet their academic advisor at least twice a Trimester, as below:
Every Early Trimester – students will see their academic advisor to discuss the load, as well as
reporting their previous examination results
Before the end of a Trimester – to discuss subjects to be taken next Trimester as well as their
study loads. The academic advisor will refer the students to specialist counselor if deemed
necessary.
It is a must to meet up with their academic advisor and complete the assessment before they are
allowed to register subjects.

This credit transfer policy stated below is approved by Senate no. 159 held on 10 th January 2013 to be in line with the
Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE)’s policy. It takes effect beginning Trimester 2, 2012/13 session.
1. The syllabus of the subject offered for credit transfer must cover at least 80% syllabus of the
corresponding subject at MMU.
2. The grade obtained for the subject offered for credit transfer shall be equivalent to at least MMU
grade C.
3. The credit value of the subject from the programme to be transferred must be the same or more than
the credit value of the subject offered by MMU.
4. Only subjects from accredited Diploma programmes can be considered for credit transfer.
5. The maximum transferrable credit is 30% (approximately one year of Bachelor's degree duration) of
the total programme’s credit.
6. Student who possesses an advanced diploma in addition to a Diploma qualification may apply for a
consideration for credit transfer of up to a maximum of two years of the Bachelor’s degree duration.
Student may join the third year of the programme if the application is successful.
7. Transfer of credit from a higher level programme (e.g. Bachelor’s degree) to lower program (e.g.
diploma) is not permitted.
8. Horizontal credit transfer is allowed.
a. Student following a programme and wishes to change to another programme offered by MMU at
the same level and within the same field. (Eg : from FCI to FIST and vice versa, from FOM to FBL
and vice versa)
Grade transfer is allowed. In this case, there is no limit to the amount of credit allowed to be
transferred.
If the previous programme is from another institution of higher learning, the credit transfer is
dependent on the residential year (1 year for Bachelor’s degree level and 1 semester for the
Diploma level)
No credit or grade transfer is (including the MPU subjects) allowed.
b. Student who quit a programme and wishes to continue another programme at the same level in
MMU.
Grade transfer may be considered. In this case, there is no limit to the amount of credit
allowed to be transferred. The subject taken by the student must not be more than FIVE
years prior to the registration date of the new programme at MMU.

If the previous programme was taken from another institution, the credit transfer is

the Diploma level)
c. Student of a programme who enrol for a few subjects at another institution of higher learning at
the same time (for example via mobility or exchange programme)
Credit transfer is allowed and it must not be more than 30% of the total credit of the
programme registered for and it is also dependent upon the mutual understanding of
both institutions.
Programs at the levels below are exempted from offering the MPUs.

In MMU, the evaluation for MPU subjects will be carried out as follows:

As tabulated in Table 4, lecturers are allowed to choose the weightage for coursework and examination
as per stipulated in the table above.

3.1 General
3.1.1 All students enrolling into MMU beginning trimester 1, 2013/14 are compulsory to
take the MPU subjects. Students who have enrolled into MMU prior to trimester 2,
2013/14 must take the MPW subjects offered.
3.1.2 Malaysian nationals who did not undergo the primary and/or secondary education in
Malaysia and did not sit for SPM, are still subjected to the local students’ MPU
requirement.
3.1.3 Students are not allowed to take the same subject for U2, U3 and U4 at Diploma and
Bachelor’s degree level. For example, Situation 1: A student took Public Speaking at
Diploma level. Later when he moved on to the Bachelor’s degree level, he took Public
Speaking again. This is not allowed. Situation 2: A student took Public Speaking level
1 at Diploma level. Later when he moved on to the Bachelor’s degree level, he took
Public Speaking level 2. This is allowed as the level of the subject is different.
3.1.4 Students from Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore who underwent ‘O’ Level studies and
has taken Bahasa Melayu will be exempted from taking Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi
2. They must replace Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi 2 with another subject from cluster
U2 or U3. This policy is to ensure the student fulfils the graduating credit hour.
3.1.5 International students must pass Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi 1 at Diploma level and
Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi 2 at Bachelor’s degree level. This is a graduation
requirement.
3.1.6 Credit transfer for MPU subjects from Diploma level to Bachelor’s degree level is not
allowed.
3.2 MPU1
3.2.1 TITAS and Hubungan Etnik are compulsory subjects for local students at Bachelor’s
degree level and must be taught in Bahasa Melayu.
3.2.2 Pengajian Malaysia 2 is a compulsory subject for Diploma students only.
3.2.3 Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi 2 and Pengajian Malaysia 3 are compulsory subjects for
international students at bachelor degree level.

1. The students must complete successfully a diploma of at least two years full time duration (post
SPM or equivalent) in the appropriate field of management. The students must have completed
and obtained the award of Diploma (recognized by MQA) OR
2. The students who have undergone or are undergoing other undergraduate degree level courses
approved by the respective Dean as equivalent to MMU undergraduate degree programmes.
3. The syllabus of the subject offered for credit transfer must cover at least 80% syllabus of the
corresponding subject at MMU.
4. The grade obtained for the subject offered for credit transfer shall be equivalent to at least MMU
grade C.

7. A committee appointed by the Dean will conduct the vetting exercise for credit transfer.

End process.
1) Leave of absence is defined as a student’s request to be away from the University for a
minimum of a trimester period and a maximum of three trimesters.
2) Leave of absence may be requested only for national services, serious illnesses, financial
problems, or compassionate reasons. Application for Leave of Absence must be supported by
official documents.
3) Leave of Absence should be requested prior to the trimester in which the leave is taken, if
possible.
4) A student on Leave of Absence should not enroll in another academic institution during the

5) Except for National services and Medical reasons, the period of the student’s leave from the
university will be counted as part of the student’s candidature period.
6) A student who fails to register for any subject after the end of the leave of absence period may
lead his/her student’s status to be changed to ‘Dismissed’.
7) Students should discuss with their academic advisors prior to Leave of absence. International
students MUST report to International Office (IO) before applying for Leave of Absence.

Seven computer laboratories are currently available in FOM for student’s use. Students are welcome to use
the facilities provided. However they must follow all the regulations and to use the facilities provided
responsibly and in manner that will not adversely affect other users. The technicians are empowered by the
Dean to take note of the student’s name, ID and to make the relevant report to the FOM lab disciplinary
committee headed by Associate Dean concerned. Students found guilty will be fined and/or suspended from
using the computers. Students will have the right to defense at the Enquiry Board Meeting.

Lab software that is copyrighted may not be copied. Students may not install, alter or delete any
software program or utility on any computer lab.
9. In the event of the problems with the software or equipment, the lab assistant should be notified
immediately. Users should not tamper with the computer hardware in any way.
10. Users are responsible for the use and security of their usernames and passwords. Computer accounts
are for individual use and should be used only for the purposes for which they were intended.
11. Users must respect the privacy of others by refraining from accessing their files and/or electronic mail.
12. Computers are available on first come first served basis. Computers may not be saved or reserved in
advance for individual use. The staffs are authorized to make any computer unattended for more than
fifteen minutes available to another user and remove all materials left in the lab.
13. The University reserves the right to inspect the content of all the diskette and/or any other storage
media, at any time.
14. Files may be saved to the hard drives on the Lab computers at the user’s own risk. Saved files will be
periodically deleted without notice. Files should always be backed up to floppy disks.
15. The Lab computers have virus protection software and will give an alert if an infected disk is inserted
into the floppy drive. If this problem happens, please refer it to the lab assistance as soon as possible. It
is highly recommended that all users to install virus protection software on their personal computers to
avoid virus to spread.
16. Users must comply with the provisions of current Malaysia law relating to pornography and
pornographic materials in any form. Actions including but not restricted to accessing local or
international sites to obtain obscene and/or pornographic files, pictures, movies, captions or others are
considered “INTENTIONAL” are subject to disciplinary actions by the University and other enforcement
agencies.
17. Users are not allowed to play any form of any COMPUTER GAMES from any source, either hard disk,
floppy, INTERNET, etc at any time.
18. The staff will not responsible for any losses, damages or misplacement of users’ belongings in the
computer labs.
19. Users must comply with any additional restrictions relating to the use of particular computing facilities.
20. User may not use computing resources for any illegal or unauthorized activities. Any violation or abuse
of any policies, rules and regulations, equipment and labs, will be reported to the Dean of FOM or the
respective authorization and may result in suspension or revocation of lab privileges. The University
decision regarding the rules and regulations shall be final.
21. Any user found violating, one or more of the rules set at above, will be dealt with by the FOM disciplinary
board. If found guilty, an appropriate sentence will be meted out by the Board. The FOM Disciplinary
Board will follow the guidelines set by the University disciplinary board for students.

PART I
Registration
Plan of Study
1. The plan of study for any student shall contain the subjects that the student shall register each trimester
for the duration of his/her studies in the programme. The plan shall be formulated by the student on
the advice of his/her academic advisor so as to ensure that pre-requisite course requirements are met,
and core subjects related to the student’s major and electives are included in the study plan.

2. Registration for courses must be completed before the beginning of each academic trimester.
3. Students may register for new subjects or withdraw from a subject during the first two weeks of the
trimester.
4. The Dean of a Faculty or the Director of an Academic Center may grant exemption from pre-requisite
subjects to students, that they deem fit.

Students are urged not to perceive the withdrawal policy as the same with the release of coursework mark
practice and etc. These 2 exercises are not related. There should not be any fear of the result of the
coursework mark since students should strive to get the best grade possible, not just to pass the subject.
Withdrawal will result in an automatic grade of (W) to be recorded. This grade will not be used in the
computation of the Cumulative Grade Point Average for the student concerned.
PART II
7. 100% of the course fee shall be refunded if a student withdraws from a subject within the first and
second week of any trimester only.
8. No refund shall be granted for any withdrawal of subject after the first two weeks of any trimester.
Note: All the above are subjects to be changed as directed by ERU& Finance.
*Important note.
Please be informed that in order to graduate, FOM students are required to obtain at least
Grade C for all subjects. This requirement will be effective by Trimester 2 2009/2010 and
onwards.
