Deneio Biology and Psychology

Standing at around 4 feet tall, the Denaii suffer many of the ill effects
of living so far beneath the earth, their backs have a distinct curve, making
them look more like 3 feet in height. Other ill effects of their cave-dwelling
origins are their poor eyesight, their cities shining like beacons in the cave
systems to allow a near-sighted Denain to see their settlements from further
distances.

The Psychology of a Denain is strange, yet easy to understand once


you pick apart their culture, their populace seems wasteful, churning through
resources at vast rates and propagating criminals and bad habits wherever
they spread, their decadence is almost admirable, with most moral scruples
being weeded out during the great crime wars of old.

Deneio Internal Politics


The Internal politics of the Denai is a cutthroat regime of backstabbing
and covert operations, different criminal elements control sectors and only
unstable agreements keep the nation's fragmented mob rule from completely
collapsing. The dominant syndicates control entire sectors of space, hoarding
power and resources from the rest of the infrastructure of the nation.
Denio Gambling Conglomerate runs on corruption, power, and energy
credits, each of which feeds the others, these ideals have kept the people in
line as these crime rings have gained money to extremes that rival the
government itself. This money is used to grease the wheels and keep the
cycle turning.

Life in the big cities of Keldor is, for the common citizen, quite a simple
life. You wake up in a cramped apartment, buy some food from a street
vendor on your way to work, take public transit to your job, work through your
shift in a cramped industrial complex, and then when your shift ends, pick up
your next meal from a street vendor and relax in flashing bright casino, using
your company rewarded chips to attempt to get rich, few do, after wasting
most of your money you then take the metro back to your apartment, broke
and tired, and sleep until the next day where the cycle repeats.

The established order, if you can call it that, is usually one bay event
from shifting slightly, and though it is nearly impossible to root out the
corruption at this point, a change in leadership is one humiliation away from
occurring at all times, the nations cutthroat politics does leave it rather
vulnerable to change being made by anyone willing to play the game of
corruption, but just like in their casinos, the house always wins, if you crush
one house, another will take advantage

Denaio Geography
The Geography of Keldor is a rugged tundra, fields of mostly
flat and untouched surface, for the settlements of Keldor are not above the
ground, on the sprawling surface world. But instead below, deep below, in the
sprawling caves and crevices of the planet winding passageways, these
tunnels are split into three main regions populated by the species

The First region of the caves of the planet is known as the Jacoto
Tunnels, a series of small and narrow caves, full of spiky rocks that seem to
interconnect often, forming a maze-like region used by smugglers to avoid
capture by “Law Enforcement” or other gang-related muscle, the tunnels are
large enough for a shuttle to fit through but not much more, these tunnels all
surround a cave that has breached the surface of the planet, known as Sarios
Scar, the scar is home to a small mining settlement, the only settlement to
appear surface-side

The Second Region is the Lushlands of Vogu, sprawling below one of


the planet's oceans, the lush lands of Vogu last had water enter the
ecosystem almost a century ago, and have a very humid climate,
bioluminescent plants grow in these large caves, and the capital of
Glouwsurge, a shining beacon of the decadence of the Denaio people.
The Third region is known as the sprawling swamps of Ketu, the
swamps are large caves almost fully submerged in water, and the swamp-like
plants grow up from the water, making the city of Shinesgard, a floating
settlement, functioning as a smuggling port for House Daschmund.

This nation is played as a neutral third party wherever possible, dealing with both sides to
make more credits and dealing with bordering nations through diplomatic dealings instead of
war, mostly fighting as mercenaries for other nations and trying to maintain its legitimacy

Current Denaio Government


The Current Government of the Denaio people is never in the same place at the same time,
a group of syndicate leaders communicating through holo terminals to keep in touch, not
every decision requires the agreement of all of the groups, just the ones necessary for the
task to happen, the factions that make up this group are greater than just the three largest
groups, so I am going to list them all here to flesh out later

- The most interconnected of the houses, its securing of the slave trade has made it a
prime asset for the nation's workforce stabilization, controlling any thrall worlds and
raising penal legions for combat
House Daschmund
- Powerful in its own right, but not as interconnected as the others, Daschmund
controls the drug trade, buying workers from Andaria and protection from Kalindore,
Daschmund can muster up smaller amounts of funds when the banking federation
disagrees with a proposal.
House Kalindore
- Operating from the shadows, Kalindore controls the hitmen and muscles of the
nation, operating behind the screens of mercenary contracts and other hired hands to
keep their operations safe during unstable times.
House Kamar
- Splintered and disconnected, House Kamar operates as the shadowy influence over
the council, its operatives exist within foreign governments and within the other
factions, influencing decisions before they ever hit the board
House Limform
- Operating mostly above board, house Limform presents itself as the head of the
planets casinos, one would think that this would make them powerful, but with their
economic efforts held back by the banking federation, their workforce licensed from
Andaria, if it wasn’t for their lawyers and pr specialists, they would have been
devoured by now
Denaio Law Enforcement
- Though having law enforcement at all might seem weird for a government this
steeped in corruption, the corrupt forces of Denaio Law Enforcement fill the roll of
keeping supply and demand in check, if a house gets too big, Denaio Law
enforcement is called upon to knock them down a peg, their other major use is
helping with the facade of legitimacy.
Denaio Transit Authority
- The last remnant of an actual governing body, the department of transportation
makes sure that the trains run on time, they are the gears that allow the other houses
to operate, whether its smuggling goods across international borders in cargo
transports, to making sure that the goods produced unethically make it to their
intended consumers with minimal delay.
The Banking Federation
- A conglomerate of the rich and wealthy, kept in power by their influence over the
banks, it doesn’t matter if everyone else agrees, if it costs more than Daschmund can
handle, the banks have the final say, the three members of the banking federation
are
- Grets Higmor
- Grets gained his wealth during the cartel wars, selling access to his
banks in order to protect their assets during the violent wars that
scattered the planet, using this wealth, he has cemented his place at
the top of the federation
- Osias Jeckl
- Making her money through gambling, Osias has since risen to
prominence due to the purchasing of her casino by house Limform,
though Osias is still a majority stockholder in the largest casino on the
planet
- Hied Quella
- The owner of the Denaio national bank, Hied cements their position
through brutal force if necessary, with a private security force, they
protect the federation from power grabs.
