IT01 ACTIVITY #10:

Instruction. Explain the following commandments of computer ethics on your own words. You
can either include examples or scenario related to each commandment.
1. Thou shalt not use a computer to harm other people.
Use the computer in a way that does not endanger others.

-It is unethical to manipulate or delete the files of other users. It is unethical to build
programs that, when run, steal, copy, or obtain unauthorized access to the data of other
user.
2. Thou shalt not snoop around in other people's computer files.
Do not snoop on someone else's computer data.
-It is not acceptable to read another person's email or files. Getting information from
another person's personal files is tantamount to breaking into their home.
3. Thou shalt not use a computer to steal.
Do not steal information using computer technology.
-It is unethical to break into a bank account in order to obtain information about the
account or the account holder.
4. Thou shalt not use a computer to bear false witness.
Do not use digital technology to aid in the spread of disinformation.
-This also means that misleading information or rumors can spread quickly via social
media sites or email. It is unethical to participate in the dissemination of false
information.
5. Thou shalt think about the social consequences of the program you are writing or
the system you are designing.
.Consider the societal impact of your software before you develop it.
-Video games and animations, as well as educational software, can have a societal
impact on users. Similarly, it is unethical to write malicious software.
