Once there was a beautiful peacock in the woods. All of the birds envy him because
of his beautiful feathers. He would show off his feathers to the other birds. One day, the
peacock went to the river for some water. “Who is that?” he said as he saw a long neck and
cool legged bird. “They look quite elegant, but I don’t like the feathers though,” said the
peacock. He introduced himself to the crane and she did the same thing. The peacock tried
to show oof his feathers to the crane but she didn’t look impressed. The crane walked along
the river. “She wasn’t even surprised!” the peacock thought. So, he walked towards her.
“My feathers have all the colors of the rainbow. While yours looks gray and dusty!” said the
peacock. “Yes, you are very beautiful but I don’t envy you at all.” The peacock was shocked.
“What! How can you not envy these beautiful feathers!?” The crane opened her wings and
flew up in the sky. “I can fly high in the sky with my wings. I can travel around the world and
wherever I want.” The crane asked him a question. “What can you do with those feathers?
Grooming and showing off? What else can you do? It seems that you look good on the
outside but not on the inside.” The peacock felt ashamed so he folded his feathers. “Oh
gee”, he said. And everyone ended up laughing.
One day, the Wind approached the Sun and asked her who she thinks is the
strongest in the world. The Wind said it was him but the Sun didn’t believe him, so he made
a bet on it. Just then, they saw a man walking through the field. The Wind had an idea. “See
that man? Whoever can make him take off his jacket first wins.” As soon as the Wind said
that, the Wind started to blow as hard as he could. “Whooo-whooo.” Instead of the man
taking off his jacket, he held on it tightly. The Wind blew harder and harder, but the stronger
the Wind blew, the tighter the man held onto his jacket. The Wind felt too tired to continue
blowing so he stopped. As soon as the Wind stopped, the Sun came out. It was the Sun’s
turn now. The Sun shone as brightly as she could. “Huh? Why is it suddenly so hot?”, the
man said sweating. So, he took off his jacket and threw it aside. “See that, Wind? You
embarrassed yourself by trying to show off.” The Wind became so embarrassed that he blew
away.
