Punishment is too harsh for students.

Firstly, students learn best in environments

where they feel safe, accepted and appreciated. Relying on punishment to control
behaviour does the opposite. Secondly, it results in more negative behaviour and
thingking. For example, students who get punished feel their teachers do not like
them. These negative effects also apply to the ‘good students’. Punishing one student
makes the rest of the class anxious, worrying. The more anxious students are, the less
they’ll learn. Finally, it damages motivation. For instance, students lost inspiration to
go to school, they feel uncomfortable and do not want to learn. To sum up,
punishment is too harsh for students, we should have better solutions than chastise.
