Climate change is the long-term shift in the Earth’s average temperatures and weather conditions.

It is mainly caused by human activities, such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and
agriculture, that release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat and increase
the greenhouse effect, leading to global warming (United Nations, n.d.). Climate change has
significant impacts on biodiversity, including changes in species distribution, extinction risks,
and ecosystem functioning.
