1. Define what is Rubric in assessing students’ performance.
2. Identify the meaning of Analytic Rubric.

There are 2 types of Rubric in Assessment in Learning, namely Analytic Rubric, Holistic
Rubric.

What is Analytic Rubric?

Analytic Rubric is like a scoring guide that breaks down the student performance into
different parts, instead of giving one overall score, it assesses specific aspect separately,
making feedback more detailed and focused. It helps where you can improve in different
aspects of your work.
Analytic Rubric has a different parts.

Title

1. Title o Pamagat. Nagsasaad kung tungkol saan ang Rubric na ito.


2. Description. Nagsasaad ng detalye kung ano o anu-ano ang mga task na kailangang
maisagawa ng mga mag-aaral.
3. Criteria/Component. Nagpapakita kung sa anu-anong aspeto mamarkahan ang mag-
aaral. Ito rin ay nagsasaad kung anong Factors ang ating hahanapin sa mga mag-
aaral sa kanilang product o performance.
4. Levels and Scoring Scale. Makikita sa itaas na bahagi o header ng Rubrics. Ito ay
nagpapakita ng iba’t ibang level o antas ng mastery ng mag-aaral sa bawat criteria o
component.
5. Performance Descriptor/Standards for Performance. Ito ang naglalarawan o
nagbibigay kahulugan sa kalidad ng performance na ipinakita ng mag-aaral sa bawat
criteria.

Advantages
• allows learners to plan their assessment according to the descriptors in the rubric
• gives learners a clear picture of why they achieved the grade they received
• allows instructor to grade more fairly; free of judgments
• each set of criteria is evaluated separately providing students with formative
feedback on each criteria, like where their strengths and weaknesses are

Disadvantages
• creation of quality analytic rubrics takes a lot of time upfront
• use of vague descriptions or inconsistent descriptions renders a rubric useless for
grading and feedback
• can place more emphasis on the technical aspects of an assignment and thus miss
deeper levels of cognition and creativity
