Reflective writing on the new gillette ad by gillette

The video's purpose was for an advertisement using toxic masculinity and its impact on
people but I was filled with indescribable rage as I watched the video . For a while back I
thought the sexual harrassment i faced was a personal experience not knowing that various
women experience similar traumatic experiences .
While watching the video I could not help but notice a clip of two girls at the pool being
sexually harassed by a man. This reminds me of an experience I had a while back, where
me and a friend of mine were on our way to a club as we randomly got approached by two
men . we were not only forced to interact with them but to exchange our contact . In the
modern day world where giving your number could lead to your demise , we decided to turn
down their advances and leave quietly but that resulted in us being slandered with racial
slurs and other forms of abuse . We decided to ignore this one more time and go our way
but our silence enraged both of them more than our refusal , leading to us being charged at
and groped numerous times by these men .
After that experience, I could not help but think that there were men out there with this
mindset of entitlement over women and it was prominent in the society . I felt a sense of
relief that this ad brought to light the effect of toxic masculinity, its effect on women and
society , and finally how the change of action from the present men will lead to the change of
next .
Overall my experience was just a fraction of what some men have been doing to
women . But the video is a consoling fact that not only i have gone through it but other
women because of the entitlement of men .
