Cause Correction

Increase the air pressure with an external air


Air pressure is low in the air tanks source. Refer to equipment manufacturer
service information.

Engine-driven units are engaged Disengage any engine-driven units.

Lubricating oil temperature is below Install an oil pan heater, or drain the oil and
specification fill the system with warm oil.

Check the starting motor operation. Compare


Starting motor is malfunctioning or starting the starting motor with the engine and
motor is not correct vehicle specifications. Refer to equipment
manufacturer service information.

Remove the starting motor and inspect the
gear. Refer to Procedure 013-020 in Section
Starting motor pinion or ring gear is damaged 13 (/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/procedures
/57/57-013-020.html) and the equipment
manufacturer service information.

Remove the injectors and rotate the
crankshaft. Look for the source of fluid in the
cylinder. Refer to Procedure 006-026 in
Hydraulic lock in a cylinder Section 6 (/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/procedures
/57/57-006-026-tr.html) and Procedure
001-016 in Section 1 (/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en
/procedures/57/57-001-016-tr.html) .

Analyze the oil and inspect the filters to
locate an area of probable damage. Refer to
Internal engine damage Procedure 007-083 in Section 7
(/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/procedures
