“The Sound of My Heart”

Directed by Ivan Candidato, "The Sound of My Heart" is a poignant
short film that explores themes of love, loss, and human connection. Set
against the backdrop of a school environment, the film follows the
unfolding relationship between Miles, a woman, and Enzo, a transferee
with a terminal illness. As their bond deepens, they navigate the
complexities of illness and mortality, ultimately finding solace in their
shared experiences.

In "The Sound of My Heart," Miles becomes enamored with Enzo

upon his arrival at school. Despite Enzo's initial aloofness, they gradually
form a connection, with Enzo confiding in a classmate, Ezekiel, about his
terminal illness. Enzo entrusts Ezekiel to finish a song he's composing for
Miles. Tragically, Enzo passes away, leaving Miles devastated. Ezekiel
performs the song in memory of Enzo, revealing his own feelings for
Miles. However, Miles rejects Ezekiel's advances and later succumbs to
her own illness.

"The Sound of My Heart" effectively captures the emotional depth

of its characters and themes through its intimate storytelling and
compelling performances. The film skillfully navigates complex topics
such as illness, mortality, and unrequited love with sensitivity and
nuance. The cinematography creates a palpable sense of intimacy,
drawing viewers into the characters' emotional journeys. However, some
aspects of the film could be further developed, such as deeper
exploration of Miles's character beyond her relationship with Enzo and
Ezekiel.

In conclusion, "The Sound of My Heart" is a moving short film that offers

a heartfelt exploration of love, loss, and the human condition. Directed
by Ivan Candidato, the film skillfully captures the emotional
complexities of its characters and themes, although it could benefit
from further development in certain areas. Nevertheless, its intimate
storytelling and compelling performances make it a poignant and
memorable viewing experience.
