The RTÉ Staff One World Fund is an aid fund for sustainable community-based projects in
developing countries. It was founded in 1984 by a group of RTÉ staff as a response to the
suffering they saw during the Ethiopian famine. The purpose of the Fund is to enhance the
living conditions of communities in the poorest areas of the world.
The OWF is funded entirely by staff donations and all funding goes directly to the chosen
projects. The fund focuses on development projects; those projects capable of sustaining
themselves after the period of the OWF’s support had ended .
The fund is operated entirely on a voluntary basis by RTÉ employees, past and present,
through the One World Fund Committee and funding is raised through discretionary donations
made via RTÉ salary or pension deductions at source.
Operating expenses are NIL and the fund is aided in its work by RTÉ providing access to salary
deduction facilities, printing, postage and accommodation.
The fund has a carefully drawn up constitution, approved by the charities section of the
Revenue Commissioners
The fund is subject to annual audit
Administration expenses are NIL
The fund has qualified for tax exempt donation status
The 2013 your Fund contributed in excess of €66,000 to 17 projects in 5 countries in the
developing world. Projects were funded in , Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda , Cameroon and Nepal .
