Few Centuries Before Mahrishi Patanjali, *Yaskacharya* probably in 5th Century BCE wrote *Nirukta* which
dealt with going into etymology (poetical derivation or explanation) of words.
it gives disciples vision to get truly involved in this ancient deep text n contemplate n experience at every step
incessantly.
Two things are required of disciples*
"Now is the time to discuss the Supreme Absolute Truth, Brahman"
Now means, now that we have a human birth, now that we are inclined towards study of Yog, now that we
have understood the importance of Brahman, now that we want to rise above our material affairs, now that
we have contact with someone who can explain Brahman.
And what is this Brahman?
We live in a causal world where one thing is the cause of another, but if we go back and back and back to the
beginning we come to the first cause which has always existed. The Vedic literatures says that as Brahman.
So *athato brahma jijnasa* urges us to inquire about the Absolute Truth, and having discovered that the
Absolute Truth is Brahman, we will discover that we (and everyone else) are a part of Brahman- aham
brahmasmi.
*3rd Sutra of MPYD is phal sutra* Phal sutra means the benefit u will achieve by engrossing yourself n
experiencing MPYD.
Atha of Sutra 1 also refers to akhanda, atuta, the unbroken. There should not be any lapse in the study.
The Present moment has come because of Krama. Karma which means a sequence, sequence made up of
movements called Kshana this is described in 3rd chapter which says how transformation occurs by studying
MPYD.
But here transformation is Inner transformation, it occurs from inside to out, from antarang to bahiranga n not
other way around.
In this context word Sanatan also refers to chain Continuing from this life to next to next. It is also Atuta.
We will also revisit n discuss Atha again when we study Sutra 3.9-3.15 in 3rd Chapter.
First sutra is foundation sutra without that we can't proceed further. Atha now at this beautiful auspicious
moment when we started study of YogSutra.
This is based on Vedantic Philosophy of three phases of spiritual practice that purify the mind n help attain the
Supreme.
Letting the new spiritual thoughts run through our mind all day long, until they become a one continuous flow.
People’s minds are usually dwelling n obsessing about all kinds of worldly things all day long n night too. Much
of this happens subconsciously. We have to become very conscious about what goes on in the mind. What the
practice of Nididhyasana does is gently replace these worldly thoughts with spiritual thoughts. Otherwise, how
can one develop and progress if their minds are thinking more about the world.
Being forceful is not the solution either, or it will backfire. Be gentle n enjoy the present moment, enjoy the
world. But do it in a spiritual manner. Suffuse your life with pleasant spiritual thoughts and contemplations,
and seamlessly your heart and mind will become purified, and great happiness n bliss will start to permeate
your life.
Topics can include the teachings you heard, how they make sense in your life, chanting of spiritual songs,
repeating your mantra, thinking about your teacher n applying these in practice.
Eventually even the spiritual thoughts will need to go, as they are just used in the process.
While doing this, it is important to not tell everyone what u doing or how u doing - keep secrecy of practice,
keep your practice up to you at personal level - only u can trade your path n journey that has continued for
many lives.
We should not mind passing away but we should not pass away without learning n practicing yog sutra as that
is what will continue in our next life.
Tra - liberation
Akshay Tritya is not Bahiranga (about external activity - Like buying Gold etc.) but is ataranga, the internal
progress.
Akshay Tritya is re-birth of yourself after u have liberated from 3 pains. We are that gold.
Abhyas Practice
2nd chapter MPYD uses term Tāpa burning impurities is the important step Shashtra
That scripture that helps you in your liberation
Sha knowledge
Tra liberation
We are all in our journey - we can understand things only at our own level.
Bhratahari has written commentary on YogSutra on our levels of consciousness that will also decide on our
understanding of YogSutra.
Chitta is complex of Manas, buddhi, ahankar mind, intellect which helps to rationalize n take informed decision.
Among 5 koshas -Chitta refers to Manomaya n Vigyanmaya Kosha, related to mental n intellectual capacity.
Ahankar - made up of
Identity of mind which is very different in yoga, each one of us is different. n Kar
or aakar
Kar is that you who acts
Aakar is Shape
Identity of self
Nature of Chitta is cyclical does not stop MPYD says stop this n that is nirodha.
Chitta is like fast flowing river; flowing so fast to stop u need to create a dam, so you can use the energy
purposefully - To Get over our habitual nature.
We will give u multiple technique to stop Mind that is like Fast flowing river n Harness that Energy in useful way
to progress further
3rs sutra is Phal sutra Ideal sutra; destination where u have to reach; fruit you have to eat or partake with u n
relish, it's the pinnacle, the ideal destination.
Only we alone know how much progress we have made, only you n you alone are measure of your own growth.
Drustu - You will become a witness, become objective, Standing on top n looking down a bird's eye view.
Looking at yourself completely differently.
Sva - Own
Rupa - Form
Looking at yourself what u are inside will shine out what is outside affects inside
Avastha state
Sthanam place
State in a place you are established in - that you are looking at yourself - witnessing your place.
There is no place for Guilt, once you become witness that is also washed out.
Sutra - 4
If you don't follow, did not built that dam what will happen Vritti
Sarupyam
Itra
ratra
You will Flow away with the world. You will stop judging yourself with your eyes n start judging yourself with
other's eyes who are biased themselves.
Don't let your own mental state ruled by anyone else however close you are, don't give switch of your mind to
anyone else let u alone be your own boss.
Yoga helps u to grow within your family as family is the only place where you will face all problems of life.
But Sensitive to your own growth n get above your own growth.
Dr Jaydeva said *Only one word is the Key* - Everything else is of no use - what matters is the *Practice*
Home Work - Note down what r your problem areas, note down areas what you want change or overcome n
write what u will do to overcome, how can I can overcome my habitual nature, I always do this, I like this I
dislike this, overcome likes dislikes.
You are your own story teller that will be discussed with yama n niyama sutra
Class 3- 3rd May 2020 Sutra 1.4-1.7 MPYD Yog Sutras (YS)
Dr Jaydeva Was asked Once Which is the Best Yagna One Can Do?
Dr Jaydeva - Gyan Yagna, Both The Preacher N Receiver Benefit n Uplift Themselves N Others Thereby
Aum Sahna Vavtu Shanti Prayer implies, We are all in this together devoted only to ourselves for what?
For Growth of Knowledge, to Gain Wisdom n to Get Blessings of Great Gurus Who have passed on this
Knowledge
Listening to Yoga Sutras can be Connected to Naad yoga
Naad is Sound, Each letter has its own Vibration
Let yourself Washed Over in Naad of Yoga Sutras
Atha is also used in Brhamasutra n Dharmasutra..
You are here listening to Yoga Sutras because you have done many live times of homework to be here that's
why you are here listening to this class.
Shaiva Kashmir has beautiful concept of Space Time Continuum. Atha reflects this concept.
Experiment then experience comes. We are here to gain Experience of yoga science.
Anubhav n anubhuti of experience are the terms given by Bharat muni in Natya Shastra.
MPYD is to experience Rasanubhav, essence or nectar filled experience of YS.
Chitta Vritti Nirodha can be connected to Zen Philosophy. Zen Means Pause. Taking Pause is Chitta Vritti
Nirodha. It is the collection acculturation of all the pauses taken towards Chitta Vritti Nirodha.
Pause n new things happen to you.
Different Levels or Series of Changes Occur with Chitta Vritti Nirodha n these are -
Level 1 Drsta - You start looking at yourself n realise how stupid I was, the importance you gave to small things
n lost your peace of mind.
Level 2 Drsta - You recognise your place in this surrounding Why am I born here? Why I'm married to him? Why
I work here? Why my children are like this? Why am I born to these parents?
You start seeing a purpose behind everything n put yourself in to right perspective with respect to surroundings.
Another dimension to this is that you start going inward if not born to this parents I would not have achieved
what I have, it's because of them I'm at this place.
You Realise, Negative experience is nature’s way of tasting you, a gift for you, as without problems we will never
grow.
You start observing day to day things, why things are happening to you - you realise that it was suppose to
happen to you so that you can grow. Pure gold is soft but is brilliant n has lustre. We are that Gold, if we don't
go though hardships n get polished we can not shine, problems do that to you.....
Dr Jaydeva use to say don't shout don't make noise why me, what have I done wrong, be quite, be gentle n
accept n go through it like voluntary Tāpa or else you can not become that Soft Gold.
Level 3 of Drsta - As you progress on path, you will be able to see your janmkatha, stories of your life -
janmakathantha sambodhaḥ is what MPYD says.
Sambodhah - I was born for this I was born to be peaceful blissful we have realised this in lockdown.
You Realise Your Life Story, Where you are going?
We will Understand more on this when we do Sutra 2.27 at later date.
As you become Drasta - Lots of your problems n attachment start dropping, you can observe objectively n you
understand what is happening to you n learn to let go n remain balanced.
MYOB Mind your own busines.
Nothing more remaining to be done by you to be experienced
4th Chapter describes that state where for yogi nothing remains to be done, he has learnt n experienced that
pinnacle n
Everything comes to its source - Purusha recognises itself.
You are liberated soul.
The various schools of Indian philosophies vary on how many of these six are epistemically reliable and valid
means to knowledge.
For example,
1.Carvaka school of Hinduism holds that only one (perception) is a reliable source of knowledge.
4. Mimamsa and Advaita Vedanta schools of Hinduism hold all six are useful and can be reliable means to
knowledge.
The various schools of Indian philosophy have debated whether one of the six forms of pramana can be derived
from other, and the relative uniqueness of each.
For example, Buddhism considers Buddha and other "valid persons", "valid scriptures" and "valid minds" as
indisputable, but that such testimony is a form of perception and inference pramanas.
6. The Nyāya school accepts four means of obtaining knowledge (pramāṇa), viz., Perception, Inference,
Comparison and Word.
Perception, called Pratyakṣa, occupies the foremost position in the Nyaya epistemology. Perception is defined
by sense-object contact and is unerring. Perception can be of two types - ordinary or extraordinary. Ordinary
(Laukika or Sādhārana) perception is of six types, viz., visual-by eyes, olfactory-by nose, auditory-by ears, tactile-
by skin, gustatory-by tongue and mental-by mind. Extraordinary (Alaukika or Asādhārana) perception is of three
types, viz., Sāmānyalakṣana (perceiving generality from a particular object), Jñānalakṣana (when one sense
organ can also perceive qualities not attributable to it, as when seeing a chilli, one knows that it would be bitter
or hot), n Yogaja (when certain human beings, from the power of Yoga, can perceive past, present and future
and have supernatural abilities, either complete or some). Also, there are two modes or steps in perception,
viz., Nirvikalpa, when one just perceives an object without being able to know its features, and Savikalpa, when
one is able to clearly know an object. All laukika and alaukika pratyakshas are savikalpa. There is yet another
stage called Pratyabhijñā, when one is able to re-recognise something on the basis of memory.
Inference, called Anumāna, is one of the most important contributions of Nyaya. It can be of two types –
inference for oneself (Svārthānumāna, where one does not need any formal procedure, and at the most the
last three of their 5 steps), and inference for others (Parāthānumāna, which requires a systematic methodology
of 5 steps). Inference can also be classified into 3 types: Pūrvavat (inferring an unperceived effect from a
perceived cause), Śeṣavat (inferring an unperceived cause from a perceived effect) and Sāmānyatodṛṣṭa (when
inference is not based on causation but on uniformity of co-existence). A detailed analysis of error is also given,
explaining when anumāna could be false.
Comparison, called Upamāna. It is produced by the knowledge of resemblance or similarity, given some pre-
description of the new object beforehand.
Word, or Śabda are also accepted as a pramāṇa. It can be of two types, Vaidika (Vedic), which are the words of
the four sacred Vedas, or can be more broadly interpreted as knowledge from sources acknowledged as
authoritative, and Laukika, or words and writings of trustworthy human beings.
7. Mimamsa school of Hinduism linked to Prabhakara considered the following pramanas as proper:
Pratyakṣa (perception)
Anumāṇa (inference)
Śabda (word, testimony)
Upamāṇa (comparison, analogy)
Arthapatti (postulation, presumption)
Anuman is inference
It is the Inferential knowledge
Deductive or inductive Inference
You See Smoke Outside - Smoke is related to fire - So You infer there is fire based on smoke. Dark cloud in
monsoon n one infers - it will rain as rain n dark clouds are inter related
Anumana is based on Universal relation also called Vyapti based on Universal law or Laws of Nature.
Home Work - Learn Recitation of First 15 Sutras if you know more double to the number of Sutras you have
learnt.
Sing write in your own handwriting n carry along with you n Read as u get free time stick on wall let it go in your
mind.
Go thru in day will go through in night will go in subconscious mind will become part of your life.
Class 4 - 10th May 2020 Sutra 1.7 MPYD Yog Sutras (YS)
Panini, Buddha, Jain, Charvaka, Ajivikas were existing were there before MPs time.
Panini Wrote Ashta Dhyāyī before MP.
Charvaks did not believe in God, (an independent philosophy which was destroyed by believers). It's called
Lokayat Philosophy - no creator - there is only one life - live it to best - n were very ethical people
Story of Som In Eagerness n enthusiasm to learn n see MP while Teaching Removed Curtain n Agni Jawala roared
n burnt everything around
Time of Patanjali - 2500 years ago but Buddhist say 300 AD
Mahabharata is an epic full of emotions hatred jelousy anger love friendship etc.
Duryodhan was big friend of Charvak Rishi. Charvak did not believe in cast system n Duryodhan influenced by
them made Shudraputra Karna a King.
Rishi Bruhaspati started Lokayat Philosophy - for the people
Aajivikas very close to Jain philosophy. Ashoka talked about aajivika around 300BCE
Because of PANINIs Ashtadhyayi - text on Sanskrit Grammar, MP wrote Mahabhaashya n Sutras came into
existence
Vedas were written in poetic form - Mantras, Rishi of Vedas were called Kavi Poet because they had liberty to
use language as they wanted
Vedic Sanskrit is different
Panini Grammar was perfect 8 chapters
Yaskacharya after him wrote Nirukta which was about Grammar
Sutras are precise dry potent perfect - no analogy no frills around - no stories - after Panini
Unlike Upanishads which have all of the above
MPYD What it was written on we don't know
Sutra u can't translate to 100% impossible to translate new meaning comes up as you change over time
Sutras are Pregnant with meaning, Nuisances to them are deciphered at different meanings at different Stages
of life
Go to Sutras when u have problem answer will come
Tra which enables us to free from 3 pains
Dharmasutra Brahmasutra Nyaya Vaisheshika Yoga n Samkhya 6 Darshanas all are written in Sutras Format
Panini is grammarian for Sutras
SAMKHYA Sutras Of Gautama lost, were oldest
Ishwar Krishna Karika are different from Sutra
Unlike his name Ishwar Krishna had nothing to do with ishwar or Krishna
Gautama Rishi wrote Nyaya Vaisheshika was wrote by Kanad Rishi
Purv Mimisha Dharma Sutras
Uttar Mimisha Bhrama Sutras
PM is author of
1. Through yoga - control of Mind
2. Through Pad- Chapter vacha- purity of speech Through Mahabhaashya
3. Removal of Mala of body through writings on Ayurveda
Above is narrated in MP Invocation Prayer by Raja Bhoj whose statue is in Indore
Buddhist had problems with MP that he has taken directly from us Yama like Jain n Bhrahmavihara
Buddhist say 300 ACE as period of MP
MP such a great Rishi he was so powerful he attracted that kind of students, all so good
We are all eligible as we want to study it's very important
Pada is a four fold division
Students were of such high calibre that PM decided Let me take students directly to Samadhi
Samadhi Pad - for the Adhikari Students who are jigyasu have craving to want to reach path beyond the ordinary
Samadhi - Shabd Vichheda
Sam - refers to balance, integration, harmony, union, completeness, something that is whole, 100 different
aspects to one word
Dhi or Aadhi
from root word
DH from Dhru Dharyti, consistent, which never goes, one which upholds, Foundation of that never goes
Listener Experimenting n Experiencing
Samadhi when u have imbibed that knowledge within you
You become that very intense Experience
Already practicing n on path that's why samadhi
For Some who does not reach Samadhi which is the case with most of us, Second chapter is given to work on
ourselves, dedicated to every normal human being with kleshas, difficulties, talks about why they have this
problem n how to overcome
Sadhan Pad chapter
Rootword is Sadh refers to goal
Sa n Dh
Many terms evolve from same
1. Sadhya is goal
2. Sadhan – techniques
3. Sadhak who follow techniques
4. Sadhna is the process Tāpa
5. Sadhu n you become sadhu
This shows beauty of Indestructible letters - Aksharas put together in different ways by grammarians n their so
precise meaning
Sadhan Paad is about what needs to be done, that Tāpa, if things remain to be done after 1st Chapter
How to do things how to handle people.....
Vibhuti Pad 3rd Chapter all are practicing very deeply from inside, keep your practice secret a personal journey
Only I can be measure of my growth
Lot of purification happen through the techniques given - then what happens - definitely results have to come
- they will come
Everything will start happening
For normal people this will become Siddhis
About Siddhi MP does not use that term. But Uses Vibhuti which does not mean ashes
Bhutas - elements of nature - it is physics
Vi as prefix means transcending (Exceptions one or two words)
Vi + Bhut
Going beyond laws of nature can walk on water, fly, which nature says is not possible
Great achievement or powers
4th chapter - Vibutis just come, don't bother or think about them, as they will not lead you to ultimate goal
Ultimate goal is Kaivalya
Root word Keval
Only one who we are, Conscious
Dr Jaydeva used to say about story in London bar - whenever world around u is moving you sit down
From inside u become Drsta Sutra 1.3 is also the last sutra in 4th chapter
Today we Introduced all 4 Chapters in a sequence
So We understand sutras n it's sequence better
Samadhi n Kaivalya difference
Different levels of samadhi
Gross to subtle to nothing - shunya state - asamprgyant Samadhi - is also Kaivalya
Homework Learn 1st 30 Sutras
Chapter 4 uses two words form
SAMKHYA jeevan mukta while living in body videh after leaving body
Class 5 - 17th May 2020 Sutra 1.2 new insights MPYD Yog Sutras (YS)
Last time, We introduced all 4 Chapters in a sequence
Vyasbhashya will be introduced next time
How to Recite Sutra 1.1-1.12 was discussed
Sutra 2 Some new insights
We are born with our mental n intellectual nature - make up - A default mechanism of how our personality
functions. We all look for something higher something illusive. Chitta is our default mechanism
Scientists look at it in various ways -
Mind brain activity (MBA), Mind brain identity (MBI), Mind brain functioning (MBF)
Scientists look at brain as brain waves which is very similar to Mandukya Upanishad 4 states of wakefulness –
jagrut, sushupta, Swapna n turiya avastha
Just now we are all concentrated – Beta Waves activity
Beta waves - Bahiranga activity of brain - logical reasoning, analytical, rationalisation
Theta waves - inwardly focused, relaxed, you are doing everything yet within yourself very grounded, state of
dhāraṇā looking at something more than outside world
delta waves - Shushupta state, Called Nidra In YS
Samadhi - delta Gama waves occur; Gama waves are difficult to comprehend
We now understand We need to get more inwardly focused even when among many people it should not slip
anytime from our mind
Praman source of factual knowledge from all your senses - Pratyaksh
Last time Mam said order of Vritti is not important. But on a second thought, MP does not do anything without
a meaning to it. So if MP has put an order of Vritti - Order is important
Praman - big part of our brain is full of factual knowledge - right perception
Viparyaya - all Kleshas are in this- there are 64 types of viparyaya as per Vyas Bhasya
Viparyaya
Pratishtham established in something
What is established?
Mithya gyanam not Shankaracharya's Mityya Gyan (Brahm Satya Jagat Mithya) Shankaracharya was given one
Ved Vakya from each Veda during his initiation
Erroneous or false knowledge or perception, misperception
Atad or a tat rupam
A not
Tat that
Rupa form
Viprayay is that knowledge which is not established in its form
E.g. very dark, dog's bed was over there, tumbled over bed in dark, n u mistake it for tumbling over dog -
Viparyaya - instead of seeing thing as it is - I'm seeing it as something else
Friend loves beer they had whiskey - bartered whiskey n got beer in exchange - it was horrible, flat - what they
thought was beer was something else
False knowledge Creates lots of problem on short n long run
Every single brain wave can be kilshta or aklishta painful or non painful
How pramana Vritti can be painful ? Corona for some very painful some happy at home eating enjoying
Viparyaya very helpful
Doctor has to convey very difficult message to family - hiding real fact - little covered - sugar coated - still mithya
gyan - leads to problem
ViKalp
Kalp refers to imagination
Vikalp - great imagination
Shabd - Word
Gyan - Knowledge
Anupati - anu to follow
AnuPati following that word
Vastu - Object
Shunuyo - Absent
Vikalpah
Mind is there but is Vikalp
Where is the mind - every where n no where
Mam was advised - Whatever u can't do in real life, you can do in imagination - leads to lot of problem- it
becomes your nature
Mind influences body - this Brain waves are present
Vikalp is false imagination n it also refers to day dreaming n night dreaming both included by MP in ViKalp
Nidra delta waves sleep - deep sleep - restorative - rejuvenating - where conscious mind is not active
Kilshta -
Aklishta - Visualization techniques - meditation - visualization of mind - Meditation like this is ViKalp
Bhav - is intrinsic nature/quality of something
Abhav
Pratyay
Alambana being in touch with
Vritti
Nidra
Disconnected with flow of outside world
Loss of Connectivity of force of thoughts is Nidra
Anubhat Following bhut - experience in this context
Sanskrit word are explained as per context
Vishay
Asampramoshah - you do not let go - you hate someone you still hate something joyful or unhappy happened
Smriti
Memory- By which we all live - by memory - we know ourselves - I remember my name - where I live - I know
shashtra
Memory is vital but is also our biggest enemy memory can lead u down many lanes
Meditation is an inapt word
Dharna Is right word
Dharna is to Focus
Bring all thoughts
Bring all your energy inward
Meditation is yagya performed through Body which is yagya kunda
Short Meditation -
Watch your breath
Watch inhalation n exhalation
Just observe
Don't do anything
Allow it to happen naturally
Take your awareness now to the nostril
Feel cool air going in right up your nostril n warm air falling off
Breath is Gentle subtle no effort
Cool air let it strike centre of your forehead eyebrows n falls off
Take it to ajna chakra continue
Take attention to that point
Focus from inside on that cross eyed - look at that point from inside - stare keep looking - keep looking - may
be u will see nothing some light dark some colour - whatever it is keep looking hold on to that space there -
Don't let go that place keep stating form inside out
Relax your concentration
breath normally
Keep eyes closed
Squeeze n Relax eyes
Eyes closed - move eyeballs right - left - tip of nose - center of eyebrow - relax squeeze n relax
Gently place hand over eyes n open your eyes inside
Then keep hands down
You will see screen better n brighter
How we can intensify this experience in future we will learn
Read Book by Candace B Pert Molecules of Emotions
HW which Vritti is dominant in you this week observe yourself may be share it n we will see practices to
overcome.
Consciousness levels
Mandukya Upanishad 4 stages
Jagrut - awake listening writing
Aware conscious state - where we can do many steps - in this state Chitta Vritti Nirodha should be practiced -
at my will I'm going to do this n put into action - you are telling yourself to do something that gets absorbed in
subconscious mind - habitual nature changes in this - training of subconscious mind through conscious mind
through wilful persistent efforts
Subconscious mind is affected by conscious mind, train subconscious mind through conscious mind n later on
Subconscious mind gives it back
Write diary what u want to change you become your own guide
In sleep subconscious mind Is active
Smriti 1.20-1.43 only when Smriti gets purified things happen -
Smriti is most powerful tool - use carefully as it can destroy you - it should not drag you down
Anubhut - following Experience
Vishay - Object also can be experience or event, all Experience physical n emotional
Ashamproshah - not letting go
1.12 - very tricky sutra
For achieving that state of equipoise, not scattered, peace, absence of turbulence
Abhyasah
Vairagyabhyam
Tat
Nirodhah
There is no chh or and
MP has not used word and:
Missed that word
Abhyas – Practicing, practices - techniques
Means to apply doing things
All Practices directed towards vairagya
Abhyas n vairagya are not two different things
All your Practices are towards Vairagya
Vairagya is very different From normal notion of saffron clothes n renouncing world - Vairagya is extremely
internal
Do job to the best of your abilities unattached
Living life but not getting carried away
Not attached to anything
Not craving for anything
No indulgence in to presence of things
No craving in absence of things
No likes dislikes
Doing once duty without grudges complaining

Stitho
Yatnoabhyasah
Stith to be established in - where you want to hold Yourself - there. You are held - balanced - through your own
efforts
That effort is yatna
Then it is Abhyas
Tatra from that - concept of Abhyas towards vairagya
Great effort which u put in -that makes u steady stable - despite world falling
Yatna efforts towards being steady
Satu along with
Dīrgha kal long time

Revision of 5 Chitta Bhumi
Mudha - 1.2 Vyasbhashya
Chitta bhumi are composed of 3 Gunas
No YS mentions triguna
Prakash Sthithi Sheela Terms MP uses to denote Triguna
Satva - Luminosity brilliance wipes out all darkness
Prakash means brilliance of consciousness
Rajas that which creates movement in Satva n Tamas
Rajas is Upstambhakam
Pravriti it is action
Rajas is active in Shipta
Universe only rajas no rest
Prakhya Pravriti Stithi Sheel Vedvyas terms for Trigunas
Prakash Sthithi Sheela Mahrishi Patanjali’s term for Trigunas
Trigunas have a homogeneous movement in each other in balanced state
When evolution begins heterogeneous movement begins
Rajas subordinated by Satva Businessman, Kriyayogis
Rajas supported by Tamas terrorist
Mudha dominated by Tamas deluded state with illusion wrong ideas Satva is mere absent
Tamas is dominated by Rajas
3 Gunas proportion are different in all
Vipkshit
Rajas held by Satva very focused
Sometime Tamas is dominant
Vipkshit with yoga practice rajas goes into Satva
1.1
When yoga state starts manifested in different states
Vikshipt state for longer time into state of engrossment ekagra one pointed state
Pradyoti illuminated in knowledge illumination of knowledge starts happening
Kahinoti Klesha starts lowering reducing
Karmabandhani sthalayti bondage of karma losen so that can slowly drop out n disentangle

1.23 - Ishwara Pranidhanadva
Still on path very eager MP says start with Shradhha
It does not begin you have to cultivate In you
Ishwar Pranidhanadva n Shradha are related
Mind is always chattering
Chattering with people n object should stop n should join with something that lifts u up
Your own consciousness gives you all answers
Gurus are so diverse
Dr Jaydeva was man of God very close to God

Yoga is not about ishwara
Shrat - means true
Dha - to keep or to put that, to keep with true sense of mind

created in our mind, it is very personal
MP indirectly talking about connecting with that has no Klesha no bondage with Karma is unaffected is that
kind of energy
Ultimate is when u carrying it with you all the time not while doing lighting lamp or doing puja
Only human act through emotions leaving natural instincts
Every human being has potential to become ishwara
To reach highest human birth is required
Emotions are definitely in animals
But fructification of karma only happens when done in human birth

MANUSHYATVAM MUMUKSHUTVAM MAHAPURUSHA SAMSHRAYAH”
Manhood, burning desire for liberation (Mumukshutvam), the capacity to completely surrender to a man of
wisdom - These three things are rare indeed, and wherever they are found, they are due to the Lord’s own
Grace)
- (Vivekachudamani)
- In this life, one takes so much for granted. What one does not realize is that, just being born as a human being
is a rare blessing in itself. Amongst the multitudes of billions of organisms (living beings), only a few are given
the opportunity of being born as humans. That by itself, should be considered as our privilege and utilized with
utmost respect.
- Even if one is born as a human, not everyone gets the desire or drive to work towards liberation (Moksha). A
very few of the few beings are inspired with this desire.
- In spite of being inspired to attain Moksha, not everyone is lucky enough to get the company and proximity
of the learned and enlightened.
Those who are blessed with the above three are truly fortunate. They should make use of every ounce of it and
count their blessings along the way.
7. Purusha n prakriti bondage is eliminated and consciousness shining forth -things will start falling in place -
consciousness is showing its splendor - as so many things covering it are removed
