All*Daminimam YogSutra Class* Dr Ramesh Parmar

Class 1 - *Sutra 1-2, 19th April 2020*

*MPYD - Mahrishi Patanjali Krut YogDarsgan*

Few Centuries Before Mahrishi Patanjali, *Yaskacharya* probably in 5th Century BCE wrote *Nirukta* which
dealt with going into etymology (poetical derivation or explanation) of words.

Nirukta is one of the 6 Vedangs, the ancillary texts to Vedas.

*Learn few Sanskrit words n meaning*

*Aapt* means eligible students

*Upkrama* is introduction n
*Upsanhara* means conclusion
First 4 Sutras of MPYD are Upkrama as well as Upsanhara; the introduction as well as the conclusion.

*1st Sutra is called Adhikar Sutra*

it gives disciples vision to get truly involved in this ancient deep text n contemplate n experience at every step
incessantly.
Two things are required of disciples*

To take MPYD seriously as a life long study on spiritual path

To memorize all 195 Sutras
*Athato Brahma jigyasu* is the *first sutra or aphorism of Badrayan's Bhrahma Sutra*

"Now is the time to discuss the Supreme Absolute Truth, Brahman"

Now means, now that we have a human birth, now that we are inclined towards study of Yog, now that we
have understood the importance of Brahman, now that we want to rise above our material affairs, now that
we have contact with someone who can explain Brahman.
And what is this Brahman?

That is answered in the next aphorism.

*Janmady asya yatah*

Brahman is the one from whom everything emanates.

We live in a causal world where one thing is the cause of another, but if we go back and back and back to the
beginning we come to the first cause which has always existed. The Vedic literatures says that as Brahman.

So *athato brahma jijnasa* urges us to inquire about the Absolute Truth, and having discovered that the
Absolute Truth is Brahman, we will discover that we (and everyone else) are a part of Brahman- aham
brahmasmi.

*2nd sutra of MPYD is Lakshana sutra that is definition sutra* Second

Sutra gives very definition of Yog.
*Artham vachah pushpam phalam*
In Artha, meaning of words, lies fruits of its study.

*3rd Sutra of MPYD is phal sutra* Phal sutra means the benefit u will achieve by engrossing yourself n
experiencing MPYD.

*4th Sutra Phal Badhak Sutra*

If you don't do it then what will be the outcome.

Atha of Sutra 1 also refers to akhanda, atuta, the unbroken. There should not be any lapse in the study.

Atha also means present.

The Present moment has come because of Krama. Karma which means a sequence, sequence made up of
movements called Kshana this is described in 3rd chapter which says how transformation occurs by studying
MPYD.

Metamorphosis of cocoon to butterfly.

But here transformation is Inner transformation, it occurs from inside to out, from antarang to bahiranga n not
other way around.

In this context word Sanatan also refers to chain Continuing from this life to next to next. It is also Atuta.

We will also revisit n discuss Atha again when we study Sutra 3.9-3.15 in 3rd Chapter.

Class 2 YS 1.1-1.4, 26th April 2020 Class 2

MPYD

First sutra is foundation sutra without that we can't proceed further. Atha now at this beautiful auspicious
moment when we started study of YogSutra.

It is the very Foothold of Yog Sutras.

It is called Adhikar Sutra Whose

Adhikar?
Adhikar of you n me n together of Ours Adhikar
for What?
For Learning, Studying n Practical Application of Each Sutra

This is based on Vedantic Philosophy of three phases of spiritual practice that purify the mind n help attain the
Supreme.

Shravan - the Process of hearing

Hearing about spiritual things. The teachings need to penetrate our being, we must let them into our heart and
mind. How? By listening with apt attention. By connecting our mind to the 5 senses. Otherwise if we are
distracted when listening then it won’t go into our hearts n mind at all.

Manan - means Reflection n Contemplation

The process of contemplating on the subject. After we have heard, the information take time to be assimilated
into our mind, to settle in n make sense of. Hence we contemplate afterwards about what was said n how it
makes sense to us. Initially, we may need to exert some intention to turn this wheel of the mind but then our
mind will automatically begin to dwell n contemplate on the subjects because we will see their manifestations
in our daily life. 3. Nidhidhyasan - applying what u have learnt
Having mentally retained the talk with conviction, the practice of continuously recalling the talk day n night n
applying it.

Letting the new spiritual thoughts run through our mind all day long, until they become a one continuous flow.
People’s minds are usually dwelling n obsessing about all kinds of worldly things all day long n night too. Much
of this happens subconsciously. We have to become very conscious about what goes on in the mind. What the
practice of Nididhyasana does is gently replace these worldly thoughts with spiritual thoughts. Otherwise, how
can one develop and progress if their minds are thinking more about the world.

Being forceful is not the solution either, or it will backfire. Be gentle n enjoy the present moment, enjoy the
world. But do it in a spiritual manner. Suffuse your life with pleasant spiritual thoughts and contemplations,
and seamlessly your heart and mind will become purified, and great happiness n bliss will start to permeate
your life.

Topics can include the teachings you heard, how they make sense in your life, chanting of spiritual songs,
repeating your mantra, thinking about your teacher n applying these in practice.

Eventually even the spiritual thoughts will need to go, as they are just used in the process.

While doing this, it is important to not tell everyone what u doing or how u doing - keep secrecy of practice,
keep your practice up to you at personal level - only u can trade your path n journey that has continued for
many lives.

We may die without reaching liberation.

We should not mind passing away but we should not pass away without learning n practicing yog sutra as that
is what will continue in our next life.

Today is Akshay Tritya. What is Akshay Tritya as per Sàmkhya n MPYD.

Tra - liberation

Titrya - liberation from three pains

Akshay Tritya is not Bahiranga (about external activity - Like buying Gold etc.) but is ataranga, the internal
progress.

Akshay Tritya is re-birth of yourself after u have liberated from 3 pains. We are that gold.

It is not about the Worldly Gold.

Begin your journey today. Let metamorphosis - transformation happen.

Abhyas Practice

2nd chapter MPYD uses term Tāpa burning impurities is the important step Shashtra
That scripture that helps you in your liberation

Sha knowledge

Tra liberation

Only you n you all can do it no one else can.

We are all in our journey - we can understand things only at our own level.

Bhratahari has written commentary on YogSutra on our levels of consciousness that will also decide on our
understanding of YogSutra.

You alone will be responsible for your own growth.

Sutra 1 is about Embarking on beautiful journey.

Sutra 2 - Yogah Chitta Vritti Nirodhah

It is Lakshana Sutra Mahrishi Patanjali (MP) defines every concept as we go along.

Chitta - different commentaries define differently.

Chitta is complex of Manas, buddhi, ahankar mind, intellect which helps to rationalize n take informed decision.

Among 5 koshas -Chitta refers to Manomaya n Vigyanmaya Kosha, related to mental n intellectual capacity.

Ahankar - made up of

Aham - identity of a person

Identity of mind which is very different in yoga, each one of us is different. n Kar
or aakar
Kar is that you who acts

Aakar is Shape

Identity of self

Ahankar is Mine intellect

Nature of Chitta is Vritti

Vrut means cyclical unending n continuous

Like Pebbles in water causing continuous circular whirls.

Nature of Chitta is cyclical does not stop MPYD says stop this n that is nirodha.

Rodh is Block but MP uses very carefully n cleverly term Nirodha.

Rodh - rodhak means putting a block not exactly stop there.

Chitta is like fast flowing river; flowing so fast to stop u need to create a dam, so you can use the energy
purposefully - To Get over our habitual nature.

But MP has not just used rodha

It's not possible to stop what's happening to you.

Ni - very cleverly skilfully in smart way only you alone can do

We will give u multiple technique to stop Mind that is like Fast flowing river n Harness that Energy in useful way
to progress further

First 4 sutras are beginning n end of MPYD.

3rs sutra is Phal sutra Ideal sutra; destination where u have to reach; fruit you have to eat or partake with u n
relish, it's the pinnacle, the ideal destination.

Tada - Once Chitta Nirodha is achieved

Only we alone know how much progress we have made, only you n you alone are measure of your own growth.

Drustu - You will become a witness, become objective, Standing on top n looking down a bird's eye view.
Looking at yourself completely differently.

Sva - Own

Rupa - Form
Looking at yourself what u are inside will shine out what is outside affects inside

Avastha state

Sthanam place

State in a place you are established in - that you are looking at yourself - witnessing your place.

There is no place for Guilt, once you become witness that is also washed out.

Sutra - 4

If you don't follow, did not built that dam what will happen Vritti
Sarupyam

Itra
ratra
You will Flow away with the world. You will stop judging yourself with your eyes n start judging yourself with
other's eyes who are biased themselves.

Don't let your own mental state ruled by anyone else however close you are, don't give switch of your mind to
anyone else let u alone be your own boss.

Yoga helps u to grow within your family as family is the only place where you will face all problems of life.

Yoga helps us in building shield around us so we can remain unaffected.

Dr Jaydeva used to say yogi is very sensitive.

But not Sensitive to others as to what they tell you.

But Sensitive to your own growth n get above your own growth.

Dr Jaydeva said *Only one word is the Key* - Everything else is of no use - what matters is the *Practice*

Home Work - Note down what r your problem areas, note down areas what you want change or overcome n
write what u will do to overcome, how can I can overcome my habitual nature, I always do this, I like this I
dislike this, overcome likes dislikes.

You are your own story teller that will be discussed with yama n niyama sutra

Class 3- 3rd May 2020 Sutra 1.4-1.7 MPYD Yog Sutras (YS)
Dr Jaydeva Was asked Once Which is the Best Yagna One Can Do?
Dr Jaydeva - Gyan Yagna, Both The Preacher N Receiver Benefit n Uplift Themselves N Others Thereby
Aum Sahna Vavtu Shanti Prayer implies, We are all in this together devoted only to ourselves for what?
For Growth of Knowledge, to Gain Wisdom n to Get Blessings of Great Gurus Who have passed on this
Knowledge
Listening to Yoga Sutras can be Connected to Naad yoga
Naad is Sound, Each letter has its own Vibration
Let yourself Washed Over in Naad of Yoga Sutras
Atha is also used in Brhamasutra n Dharmasutra..
You are here listening to Yoga Sutras because you have done many live times of homework to be here that's
why you are here listening to this class.
Shaiva Kashmir has beautiful concept of Space Time Continuum. Atha reflects this concept.
Experiment then experience comes. We are here to gain Experience of yoga science.
Anubhav n anubhuti of experience are the terms given by Bharat muni in Natya Shastra.
MPYD is to experience Rasanubhav, essence or nectar filled experience of YS.
Chitta Vritti Nirodha can be connected to Zen Philosophy. Zen Means Pause. Taking Pause is Chitta Vritti
Nirodha. It is the collection acculturation of all the pauses taken towards Chitta Vritti Nirodha.
Pause n new things happen to you.
Different Levels or Series of Changes Occur with Chitta Vritti Nirodha n these are -
Level 1 Drsta - You start looking at yourself n realise how stupid I was, the importance you gave to small things
n lost your peace of mind.
Level 2 Drsta - You recognise your place in this surrounding Why am I born here? Why I'm married to him? Why
I work here? Why my children are like this? Why am I born to these parents?
You start seeing a purpose behind everything n put yourself in to right perspective with respect to surroundings.
Another dimension to this is that you start going inward if not born to this parents I would not have achieved
what I have, it's because of them I'm at this place.
You Realise, Negative experience is nature’s way of tasting you, a gift for you, as without problems we will never
grow.
You start observing day to day things, why things are happening to you - you realise that it was suppose to
happen to you so that you can grow. Pure gold is soft but is brilliant n has lustre. We are that Gold, if we don't
go though hardships n get polished we can not shine, problems do that to you.....
Dr Jaydeva use to say don't shout don't make noise why me, what have I done wrong, be quite, be gentle n
accept n go through it like voluntary Tāpa or else you can not become that Soft Gold.
Level 3 of Drsta - As you progress on path, you will be able to see your janmkatha, stories of your life -
janmakathantha sambodhaḥ is what MPYD says.
Sambodhah - I was born for this I was born to be peaceful blissful we have realised this in lockdown.
You Realise Your Life Story, Where you are going?
We will Understand more on this when we do Sutra 2.27 at later date.
As you become Drasta - Lots of your problems n attachment start dropping, you can observe objectively n you
understand what is happening to you n learn to let go n remain balanced.
MYOB Mind your own busines.
Nothing more remaining to be done by you to be experienced
4th Chapter describes that state where for yogi nothing remains to be done, he has learnt n experienced that
pinnacle n
Everything comes to its source - Purusha recognises itself.
You are liberated soul.

Vallabhacharya has Given two beautiful terms.

1.Jagat - Physical World/Material World
2. Sansar is Your Emotional World
Maharishi Patnajali has defined this concept in Sutra 1.4 - Vṛttisārūpyamitaratra - Without Chitta Vritti Nirodha
- You are trapped in both Jagat n Sansar.
All Sutras, after 1.4 is about to how to do Chitta Vritti Nirodha
MP defines Every New Word n Explains Each Concepts as we go along further.
Sutra 1.5 defines What are Chitta Vrittis.
Vṛttayaḥ pañcatayyaḥ kliṣṭā akliṣṭāḥ
The (mental) modifications (vṛttayaḥ), Vritayah this Vrittis are the main target areas of Yoga so one should know
them in detail.
1.5 is Enumeration Sutra Vrittis are Panchtayya - Of Five Types.
These are broad categories - logically there is permeable membrane between them. And all this five have two
versions or dimensions, the ways in which they are Experienced.
Klishta - klish pain giving from mild to extreme painful which are
Obstacle to my growth, the whole aim is to remove klishta Vrittis.
Aklishtah - non pain giving, conducive to my growth, aim is to develop this an in the begining this will need
efforts n perseverance..
Transition from Klishta Mind to Mind full of aklishta Vritts n afterwards you have to let go all vritti.

1.6 5 broad categories of Vrittis in no particular order

Pramana
Viparyaya
Vikalpa
Nidra
Smrtayah
No particular order as in inner mind all are going around together.
Ayah is the grammar attached to every word.

1.7 Praman has lot to it to understand.

It is of 3 types
Pratyaksh
Anumana
Agamah
Pramanani - Vritti of Praman
Here Praman is not proof but it is epistemology - it is the science or theories of knowledge. Epistemology is
theory of knowledge.
In Advaita Vedanta n Mimamsa School linked to Kumārila Bhaṭṭa, 6 types of Pramanas are accepted.
Pratyakṣa (perception)
Anumāṇa (inference)
Śabda (word, testimony, Agamah)
Upamāṇa (comparison, analogy)
Arthāpatti (postulation, presumption)
Anupalabdi, Abhava (non-perception, cognitive proof using non-existence)

The various schools of Indian philosophies vary on how many of these six are epistemically reliable and valid
means to knowledge.
For example,
1.Carvaka school of Hinduism holds that only one (perception) is a reliable source of knowledge.

2.Buddhism holds two (perception, inference) are valid means

3. Jainism holds three (perception, inference and testimony)

4. Mimamsa and Advaita Vedanta schools of Hinduism hold all six are useful and can be reliable means to
knowledge.
The various schools of Indian philosophy have debated whether one of the six forms of pramana can be derived
from other, and the relative uniqueness of each.
For example, Buddhism considers Buddha and other "valid persons", "valid scriptures" and "valid minds" as
indisputable, but that such testimony is a form of perception and inference pramanas.

5. Sankhya n Yoga. rely on three pramanas

Pratyakṣa — perception
Anumāna — inference
Śabda — testimony/word of reliable experts

6. The Nyāya school accepts four means of obtaining knowledge (pramāṇa), viz., Perception, Inference,
Comparison and Word.

Perception, called Pratyakṣa, occupies the foremost position in the Nyaya epistemology. Perception is defined
by sense-object contact and is unerring. Perception can be of two types - ordinary or extraordinary. Ordinary
(Laukika or Sādhārana) perception is of six types, viz., visual-by eyes, olfactory-by nose, auditory-by ears, tactile-
by skin, gustatory-by tongue and mental-by mind. Extraordinary (Alaukika or Asādhārana) perception is of three
types, viz., Sāmānyalakṣana (perceiving generality from a particular object), Jñānalakṣana (when one sense
organ can also perceive qualities not attributable to it, as when seeing a chilli, one knows that it would be bitter
or hot), n Yogaja (when certain human beings, from the power of Yoga, can perceive past, present and future
and have supernatural abilities, either complete or some). Also, there are two modes or steps in perception,
viz., Nirvikalpa, when one just perceives an object without being able to know its features, and Savikalpa, when
one is able to clearly know an object. All laukika and alaukika pratyakshas are savikalpa. There is yet another
stage called Pratyabhijñā, when one is able to re-recognise something on the basis of memory.

Inference, called Anumāna, is one of the most important contributions of Nyaya. It can be of two types –
inference for oneself (Svārthānumāna, where one does not need any formal procedure, and at the most the
last three of their 5 steps), and inference for others (Parāthānumāna, which requires a systematic methodology
of 5 steps). Inference can also be classified into 3 types: Pūrvavat (inferring an unperceived effect from a
perceived cause), Śeṣavat (inferring an unperceived cause from a perceived effect) and Sāmānyatodṛṣṭa (when
inference is not based on causation but on uniformity of co-existence). A detailed analysis of error is also given,
explaining when anumāna could be false.

Comparison, called Upamāna. It is produced by the knowledge of resemblance or similarity, given some pre-
description of the new object beforehand.

Word, or Śabda are also accepted as a pramāṇa. It can be of two types, Vaidika (Vedic), which are the words of
the four sacred Vedas, or can be more broadly interpreted as knowledge from sources acknowledged as
authoritative, and Laukika, or words and writings of trustworthy human beings.

7. Mimamsa school of Hinduism linked to Prabhakara considered the following pramanas as proper:
Pratyakṣa (perception)
Anumāṇa (inference)
Śabda (word, testimony)
Upamāṇa (comparison, analogy)
Arthapatti (postulation, presumption)

As per Maharishi Patanjali - Pramana is the sources of Knowledge,

Prama knowledge - From where I get my knowledge of anything from.
Pratyaksh Perception
Prati Aksh - All about senses
Thorugh 5 senses you get knowledge - knowledge through sense faculty but thus has a very big problem
attached to it.
Many Conditions Needs to be Fulfilled for Pratyaksh knowledge to happen
1. My senses have to be perfect otherwise there will be chaos
2. Outside environment should be also perfect to gain knowledge
3. Your mind should be perfect If mind is somewhere else or disturbed, no knowledge will be gained
4. Intellect - you should have understanding to comprehend what senses are reflecting

Anuman is inference
It is the Inferential knowledge
Deductive or inductive Inference
You See Smoke Outside - Smoke is related to fire - So You infer there is fire based on smoke. Dark cloud in
monsoon n one infers - it will rain as rain n dark clouds are inter related
Anumana is based on Universal relation also called Vyapti based on Universal law or Laws of Nature.

Agama- Gama means movement, Aa coming to me

Refers to scripture of knowledge based on traditional wisdom, lots of commentaries, Great Rishis n Gurus who
Sharing their knowledge n wisdom they have gathered through many life times.

Home Work - Learn Recitation of First 15 Sutras if you know more double to the number of Sutras you have
learnt.
Sing write in your own handwriting n carry along with you n Read as u get free time stick on wall let it go in your
mind.
Go thru in day will go through in night will go in subconscious mind will become part of your life.

Class 4 - 10th May 2020 Sutra 1.7 MPYD Yog Sutras (YS)

MPYD - Entire text is about understanding n overcoming of Vrittis

Atha is the auspicious moment when we start this discipline
All Yoga is for Rajyoga
Kevalam Rajyogah is the aim of all yoga to reach MPs Yogsutra
Mind n intellect go haywire by Vrittis. MP (Mahrishi Patanjali) talks cleverly to stop all this n use it in right way
Direct those energy in way you want by stopping frivolous energy loss n redirecting it to progress towards
Kaivalya
Tada also refers to only when you have managed to stop fast flow of Vrittis
Otherwise you will be entrapped in world
At Last moment of your life, you should be able to go very happily go n not be entrapped in worldly thoughts
of my wife, my bf, my gf, my money, my property, which we can't let go, you will be otherwise trapped into
frivolous world
Aim is to participate in world still remain detached
MP gives you everything in first 4 sutras - Upkrama - introduction n Upsanhara - conclusion.
How to manage that flowing river is given in rest 192 sutras in 4 Chapters

Panini, Buddha, Jain, Charvaka, Ajivikas were existing were there before MPs time.
Panini Wrote Ashta Dhyāyī before MP.
Charvaks did not believe in God, (an independent philosophy which was destroyed by believers). It's called
Lokayat Philosophy - no creator - there is only one life - live it to best - n were very ethical people
Story of Som In Eagerness n enthusiasm to learn n see MP while Teaching Removed Curtain n Agni Jawala roared
n burnt everything around
Time of Patanjali - 2500 years ago but Buddhist say 300 AD
Mahabharata is an epic full of emotions hatred jelousy anger love friendship etc.
Duryodhan was big friend of Charvak Rishi. Charvak did not believe in cast system n Duryodhan influenced by
them made Shudraputra Karna a King.
Rishi Bruhaspati started Lokayat Philosophy - for the people
Aajivikas very close to Jain philosophy. Ashoka talked about aajivika around 300BCE
Because of PANINIs Ashtadhyayi - text on Sanskrit Grammar, MP wrote Mahabhaashya n Sutras came into
existence
Vedas were written in poetic form - Mantras, Rishi of Vedas were called Kavi Poet because they had liberty to
use language as they wanted
Vedic Sanskrit is different
Panini Grammar was perfect 8 chapters
Yaskacharya after him wrote Nirukta which was about Grammar
Sutras are precise dry potent perfect - no analogy no frills around - no stories - after Panini
Unlike Upanishads which have all of the above
MPYD What it was written on we don't know
Sutra u can't translate to 100% impossible to translate new meaning comes up as you change over time
Sutras are Pregnant with meaning, Nuisances to them are deciphered at different meanings at different Stages
of life
Go to Sutras when u have problem answer will come
Tra which enables us to free from 3 pains
Dharmasutra Brahmasutra Nyaya Vaisheshika Yoga n Samkhya 6 Darshanas all are written in Sutras Format
Panini is grammarian for Sutras
SAMKHYA Sutras Of Gautama lost, were oldest
Ishwar Krishna Karika are different from Sutra
Unlike his name Ishwar Krishna had nothing to do with ishwar or Krishna
Gautama Rishi wrote Nyaya Vaisheshika was wrote by Kanad Rishi
Purv Mimisha Dharma Sutras
Uttar Mimisha Bhrama Sutras
PM is author of
1. Through yoga - control of Mind
2. Through Pad- Chapter vacha- purity of speech Through Mahabhaashya
3. Removal of Mala of body through writings on Ayurveda
Above is narrated in MP Invocation Prayer by Raja Bhoj whose statue is in Indore
Buddhist had problems with MP that he has taken directly from us Yama like Jain n Bhrahmavihara
Buddhist say 300 ACE as period of MP
MP such a great Rishi he was so powerful he attracted that kind of students, all so good
We are all eligible as we want to study it's very important
Pada is a four fold division
Students were of such high calibre that PM decided Let me take students directly to Samadhi
Samadhi Pad - for the Adhikari Students who are jigyasu have craving to want to reach path beyond the ordinary
Samadhi - Shabd Vichheda
Sam - refers to balance, integration, harmony, union, completeness, something that is whole, 100 different
aspects to one word
Dhi or Aadhi
from root word
DH from Dhru Dharyti, consistent, which never goes, one which upholds, Foundation of that never goes
Listener Experimenting n Experiencing
Samadhi when u have imbibed that knowledge within you
You become that very intense Experience
Already practicing n on path that's why samadhi
For Some who does not reach Samadhi which is the case with most of us, Second chapter is given to work on
ourselves, dedicated to every normal human being with kleshas, difficulties, talks about why they have this
problem n how to overcome
Sadhan Pad chapter
Rootword is Sadh refers to goal
Sa n Dh
Many terms evolve from same
1. Sadhya is goal
2. Sadhan – techniques
3. Sadhak who follow techniques
4. Sadhna is the process Tāpa
5. Sadhu n you become sadhu
This shows beauty of Indestructible letters - Aksharas put together in different ways by grammarians n their so
precise meaning
Sadhan Paad is about what needs to be done, that Tāpa, if things remain to be done after 1st Chapter
How to do things how to handle people.....

Vibhuti Pad 3rd Chapter all are practicing very deeply from inside, keep your practice secret a personal journey
Only I can be measure of my growth
Lot of purification happen through the techniques given - then what happens - definitely results have to come
- they will come
Everything will start happening
For normal people this will become Siddhis
About Siddhi MP does not use that term. But Uses Vibhuti which does not mean ashes
Bhutas - elements of nature - it is physics
Vi as prefix means transcending (Exceptions one or two words)
Vi + Bhut
Going beyond laws of nature can walk on water, fly, which nature says is not possible
Great achievement or powers
4th chapter - Vibutis just come, don't bother or think about them, as they will not lead you to ultimate goal
Ultimate goal is Kaivalya
Root word Keval
Only one who we are, Conscious
Dr Jaydeva used to say about story in London bar - whenever world around u is moving you sit down
From inside u become Drsta Sutra 1.3 is also the last sutra in 4th chapter
Today we Introduced all 4 Chapters in a sequence
So We understand sutras n it's sequence better
Samadhi n Kaivalya difference
Different levels of samadhi
Gross to subtle to nothing - shunya state - asamprgyant Samadhi - is also Kaivalya
Homework Learn 1st 30 Sutras
Chapter 4 uses two words form
SAMKHYA jeevan mukta while living in body videh after leaving body

Class 5 - 17th May 2020 Sutra 1.2 new insights MPYD Yog Sutras (YS)
Last time, We introduced all 4 Chapters in a sequence
Vyasbhashya will be introduced next time
How to Recite Sutra 1.1-1.12 was discussed
Sutra 2 Some new insights
We are born with our mental n intellectual nature - make up - A default mechanism of how our personality
functions. We all look for something higher something illusive. Chitta is our default mechanism
Scientists look at it in various ways -
Mind brain activity (MBA), Mind brain identity (MBI), Mind brain functioning (MBF)
Scientists look at brain as brain waves which is very similar to Mandukya Upanishad 4 states of wakefulness –
jagrut, sushupta, Swapna n turiya avastha
Just now we are all concentrated – Beta Waves activity
Beta waves - Bahiranga activity of brain - logical reasoning, analytical, rationalisation
Theta waves - inwardly focused, relaxed, you are doing everything yet within yourself very grounded, state of
dhāraṇā looking at something more than outside world
delta waves - Shushupta state, Called Nidra In YS
Samadhi - delta Gama waves occur; Gama waves are difficult to comprehend
We now understand We need to get more inwardly focused even when among many people it should not slip
anytime from our mind
Praman source of factual knowledge from all your senses - Pratyaksh
Last time Mam said order of Vritti is not important. But on a second thought, MP does not do anything without
a meaning to it. So if MP has put an order of Vritti - Order is important
Praman - big part of our brain is full of factual knowledge - right perception
Viparyaya - all Kleshas are in this- there are 64 types of viparyaya as per Vyas Bhasya
Viparyaya
Pratishtham established in something
What is established?
Mithya gyanam not Shankaracharya's Mityya Gyan (Brahm Satya Jagat Mithya) Shankaracharya was given one
Ved Vakya from each Veda during his initiation
Erroneous or false knowledge or perception, misperception
Atad or a tat rupam
A not
Tat that
Rupa form
Viprayay is that knowledge which is not established in its form
E.g. very dark, dog's bed was over there, tumbled over bed in dark, n u mistake it for tumbling over dog -
Viparyaya - instead of seeing thing as it is - I'm seeing it as something else
Friend loves beer they had whiskey - bartered whiskey n got beer in exchange - it was horrible, flat - what they
thought was beer was something else
False knowledge Creates lots of problem on short n long run
Every single brain wave can be kilshta or aklishta painful or non painful

Class 6 24th May 2020 Yoga Sutra Up to 1.13

Recitation of 13-18 Yoga Sutra
Dirdh pronounce for longer
Lot's of introspection done by us
Every thought wave in Brian can be positive or negative
MP did not use word manovritti but Chittavritti
Mind is the ruler of Emotions - Manas
Chitta also has intellect n ego
Not only these 3 faculties but as per Yogendra ji, it also includes all indriyas - Gyanendriyas n Karmendriyas
Nirodhah - bring about mastery - remain balanced in all situation
My knowing - my awareness - becomes very important in my progress
Praman is not only right but is the factual knowledge - this is what it is - without any doubt
Thoughts can be both growth conducive or obstructive - klishta or aklishta
Revisited 5 Vritti again brief explanation
Sleep is tricky
Sometimes we wake up very fresh refreshing good night sleep
Other times sleep disturbed
Worrying about problems - finances

Consciousness levels
Mandukya Upanishad 4 stages
Jagrut - awake listening writing
Aware conscious state - where we can do many steps - in this state Chitta Vritti Nirodha should be practiced -
at my will I'm going to do this n put into action - you are telling yourself to do something that gets absorbed in
subconscious mind - habitual nature changes in this - training of subconscious mind through conscious mind
through wilful persistent efforts
Subconscious mind is affected by conscious mind, train subconscious mind through conscious mind n later on
Subconscious mind gives it back
Write diary what u want to change you become your own guide
In sleep subconscious mind Is active
Smriti 1.20-1.43 only when Smriti gets purified things happen -
Smriti is most powerful tool - use carefully as it can destroy you - it should not drag you down
Anubhut - following Experience
Vishay - Object also can be experience or event, all Experience physical n emotional
Ashamproshah - not letting go
1.12 - very tricky sutra
For achieving that state of equipoise, not scattered, peace, absence of turbulence
Abhyasah
Vairagyabhyam
Tat
Nirodhah
There is no chh or and
MP has not used word and:
Missed that word
Abhyas – Practicing, practices - techniques
Means to apply doing things
All Practices directed towards vairagya
Abhyas n vairagya are not two different things
All your Practices are towards Vairagya
Vairagya is very different From normal notion of saffron clothes n renouncing world - Vairagya is extremely
internal
Do job to the best of your abilities unattached
Living life but not getting carried away
Not attached to anything
Not craving for anything
No indulgence in to presence of things
No craving in absence of things
No likes dislikes
Doing once duty without grudges complaining

1.13
Tatra
Stitho
Yatnoabhyasah
Stith to be established in - where you want to hold Yourself - there. You are held - balanced - through your own
efforts
That effort is yatna
Then it is Abhyas
Tatra from that - concept of Abhyas towards vairagya
Great effort which u put in -that makes u steady stable - despite world falling
Yatna efforts towards being steady
Satu along with
Dīrgha kal long time
Nir Antar

YogSutra Class 7th 31 May 2020

Chanting Sutra 19-22 discussed
Tricky words – Layaanaam n Prjnya
Purpose of this Sutra class is for Mumukshtva so take it seriously
Excessive dreams - Swapna Sutra when it comes, we will talk about it
YS1.10 - BG 2.69 same?
Stithapragya state different?
In scheme of Indian physiology YS are part of Vedic tradition, they follow basic tenets of Veda n Upanishads
Vedas are polytheistic
Basic concepts between BG may be same but actual differences when go to finer concepts
Samkhya - No God, No concept of God
MP understands human personality n brings about concept of Ishwara
Jeeva - term Upanishad n Acharya use
Samkhya n Yoga uses term Purusha
All this denotes Consciousness
YS - to understand Jeeva
1.2 Who has Chitta - A conscious entity. Are flower tree wall all conscious entity?
What constitutes consciousness
Chitta Vritti Nirodha is possible for only conscious entity which is aware of itself n can master willfully itself
Upnishad - Valli means Chapter
Rishi Bhrugu in Taitrya Upanishad Explained answer to the above question in Panch Kosha concept
Kosha - Covering -Sheath - that is the normal translation
But Koshas are not covering they are the Dimensions of your personality
1. Annamaya - Annam bhrameti -
That Kosha that has risen through food - through material thing - It is the Material dimension of our body -
Physical body
Made up of 5 elements
Stone -wall -mountain - tiger -tree also have it - all intimate n animate things have
Material Dimension - MD
2. Pranamaya - pranam bhrameti - Other dimension - Prana
Prana is associated with - being born - growing - decay in biological sense - death
Who does not have Pranamaya Kosha - Wall, Stone, Buildings
Who has Pranamaya Kosha- Human- Animal- Tree all have Pranamaya Kosha
3. Manomaya Kosha - Mind - Related to emotion
Emotion is Possible Only for those entity - which can feel - have a Nervous System
Plants Do not have Nervous system n hence do not have a Manomaya Kosha
(Jain include plants also in this)
Men n animals - have Manomaya Kosha
4. Vijnanmaya Kosha
Animal can they sustain themselves like humans do?
Animals don't have self consciousness
Self conscious enters only in human being
Animals are ruled by biological instincts
Rishis have very clearly pointed this out only Human have Vijnanmaya Kosha
5. Anandmaya Kosha
Anand is Not Joy or Bliss
But Peace
Only Ananda is present then there is Shanti
Self conscious - Jeeva is capable of jigyasa n mumuskhutva which lead to this peace
This is how Our consciousness is different from flower, animal, stone, mountains
Samkhya talks about intellectual evolution
Bhrahman is from root word
Bruh- Bruhad - Vast
Bhrahmanda is also derived from it
How humanity grew - Rigveda oldest Veda -Atharva Veda was last in time - last to evolve
Kavikrutah - Kavis wrote Rigveda in love n passion n oneness with nature
Atharvaveda is more of feared society by that time caste system had grown - society had grown so different
Budhhishm - concept of shunyuta or nothingness
Candle flame extinguished n it's not there - flow of Consciousness
Samkhya time was the best era of Indian Philosophy - there was freedom in the society- free discussion in
Society happened that time. After Ishwarksrishana nothing happened in Indian Philosophy Until 8th Century
wheh Shankaracharya Came
In time of Buddhist Supremacy n
Shankaracharya revived Vedantic tradition
Acharya is one who wrote three commentaries - on Bhrhmasutra, Dharmasutra n BhagvadGeeta.
Jevo bhrhaman there is no difference between Jeeva n Bhrahman
He talked it at a very higher level
Parmarthic satta
At day to day level everything is real but at supreme level everything is unreal
Vedanat of Shankaracharya is Advaita or Kevala Vedanta n has
Extremely big following
10th Century - Bharat muni after him Abhinav Gupta - brought out Bhakri Tradition in 10 ACE - To connect with
Shiva - Rasashastra he wrote on art n culture brought in concept of bhakti
Ramanujcharya 12 Century - all this is so high - Bhrahman has created world, world is important, I am also
important, Bhrahman is also important - he brought in Bhakti revolution
13th Century - anamdtirtha Madhavacharya - he said Jagat is different.
Jeeva is different
Bhrahman is also different
N everything is real
We have to go towards bhrahman So love bhrahaman worship
15th Century - Mughals Akbar's invasion - Muslim empire had spread -it was difficult to openly worship for
Sanatanis- nalanda Takahashishila were destroyed
Then came Vallabhacharya - he saw it is not possible to go outside n worship - he said bring God home- God's
swarup - love him as your own child - do everything - his siddhanta is -
Śuddhā Advaita - that is this is everything is bhrahaman
Nathdwara is this tradition
In Summary, Concept of Consciousness was looked at differently over different times by different acharyas as
above
Back to YS 1.2-1.3
Dr Antarkar - YS Concept of Consciousness
Western - When u have awareness - when we act - we act with awareness- intention - even if we are doing it
not mindfully
So Second sutra is about - intention - awareness
It is intentional awareness - self awareness
1.3 Non intentional -everything is swabhavik -spontaneous -it has blossomed into something which just
emerges out of it as it is it's part of u - asamprgyant samadhi- efforts had been put in intention was there - so
things just happen
Consciousness is a concept
What you do with your full self- love everything then things every thing will happen
Chitta Vritti able to rattle out all of you - it's your commitment learn Yogsutra it will come - just put into your
efforts learn sutras - If you give yourself everything - things will come to you says MP
Dreams - subconsciousness gives u lot of food
Past vasna past sanskara u give them opportunity it comes up
Do with passion everything smriti n vikalp are connected smriti is active if u are dreaming
Night dreaming - watch n don't get into it by morning
1.14
Abhyas is yatna - Abhyas noun n yatna verb
Be very firmly routed in your yatna for long time without break
Antar break
Nairantar - without break
Invocation prayer
Chitta bhumi are mindfields

Daminimam’s Yog Sutra 8th Class 7th June 2020

Chanting Of Sutra 15-22 discussed
Difficult word
Khyate
Everyone Is Asked to learn 5 more Sutras
Definition of Sutra
A sentence qualifies to become Sutra only if it exhibits following 6 characteristics. Sanskrit Scholars have come
out with following definition of Sutra

अल्पािरम ् असजददग्धम ् सारवत ् ववश्वतो मुखम ् ।

अस्तोर्भम ् अनवद्यम ् च सूत्र: सूत्रववदो ववद:ु ॥

alpAkSharam asandigdham sAravat vishvato mukham |

astobham anavadyam cha sUtra: sUtravido vidu: ||
alpAkSharam - alpa - brief brevity letters - Concise
Asandigdham - clarity of thoughts in tiny little word n sentences - they have meaning n context within a brief
sentence
without any doubt i.e. unambiguous or should have a singular meaning that is conveyed
sAravat- essence even though brief they contain essence of what sutrakar is referring to, it's meaningful without
any Gibberish
Vishvato Mukham - everyone learn easily by everyone
Astobham - Without 'Stobha', there are no comma full stop exclamation marks no punctuation marks or Fillers
Anavadhyam - complex n simple meaning - debates arguments by scholar - no argument in YS no Contraversies
they are seer precise instructions, irrefutable (na avadyam - that which cannot be refuted)
Cha sutro - that is Sutra
Sara viduho - Vidya knowledge given through sutra - new things come out - Sutras are multi layered n multi
dimensional - in different stage of our life n maturity we will find different meanings from Yog Sutra.
Scholars - Bhashyakara - We refer to or look at commentaries by scholar when u don't understand
Best bhashya is Vyasbhashya - not same as Mahabharata Rachyeta Vyasmuni
Different we don't know his first name - first bhashya of YS in 5 ACE - history of civilization - king
Bhrathari - 5 ACE - Great Scholar used to write - on love he wrote 100 verses called Shringaar Shataka -
100 verses on ethics - niti shatak how to rule with ethics
He used to invite great sages to his kingdom - one sage was very happy - Gave him - kalpa fruit - whatever u
desire will happen - gives it to Queen Pingla gives it to senapati - he gives it to another woman in place maid -
maid gives to king - found out got vairagya n - wrote vairagya shatakam
He came out with concept of Vakya Sfota - indirect Bhasya of Yog Sutra - tyi library has book on Bhartahari
Many Bhashyakaras
Main bhashya is by Vyasa
Everyone else has done - Tika, vartika or vivarana
Vachaspati Mishra - 8n 9th8 Century - Tatva Vaisharadi
Iran Alburani Mohd of Gaznavi he was mathematician philosoher astronomer - Aristotle n Indian mathematics
influenced him - he also wrote on YS n Samkhya - in 10-11 Century
10-11 - Raja Bhoj - Tika on YS short word to word - called
Raj or Bhoj Martanda
15-16 vigyan Bhikshu - Yog Vartika - Vedantic flavour (also seen with Vyasbhashya)
15 - Narayan Tirtha - Wrote Bhakti oriented Ys Commentary
19-20 Cebtruty - Hariharananda Aranayas - Bhasvasti Commentary on bhashya of Vyas
Many Jain guru with YS commentaries
Max Muller - Yoga n Indian Physiolophy
I K Taimini - Indian Philosophy Vedantic Flavour
Iyengars book on YS
TYI Book - YS
Vyasbhashya
1.1 Yogah is Samadhi - Who is Bhashyakara - he reads entire book n Tells synopsis of what u getting into - yoga
is way n means n goal to samadhi
Sa cha and
Sarvabhomyachittasya
Dharma
All the bhoomis
Nature of = Dharma = to achieve samadhi, any bhumi can achieve samadhi as it is it's dharma
Next line
Kshiptam
Mudha
Vikshiptam
Ekagra
Nirrudha are Chitta bhumi
1.2 Chitta n bhumi match how they come together
Bhumi means field
U put in seeds saplings n grow
Bhumi with dry rocks - seeds will not sprout easily
Well ploughed n planned bhumi - they will grow easily
Vritti - Modification happening in the field - klishta Vritti - are seeds you will cultivate in the mind fields
Positive thoughts
Negative creeper will destroy everything
Creeper of anger will invade even good
Nourish good vritti
Pluck out negative
Kshiptam - big sapling -
Kship - root - to throw to scatter around - haphazardly - disoriented movements - one must do running out -
then weed out
Vyasa- No Yoga becomes effective in Kshiptam Bhumi
Mudha - dull foolish state of inertia don't want to do anything
Vikshiptam -
Vi is transcending getting over - slowly pulling out yourself-slowly overcome the distraction n restlessness - n
becoming focussed - you have put efforts in - first saplings of yoga begin to take root n sprout - by your constant
efforts - aklishta Vritts will be more now
Now your bhumi is becoming strengthened by yoga practice to ekagra
Ek Agra = one n printed
You put efforts - To be in that state ekagra state - dancer with pots on head n feet on sthalika
Mind should remain focussed - union Harmony of all your forces together whateve u do will be beautiful energy
from within is directed in that
Samadhi - academic way Ananda vichar etc.
Samadhi start at 1.17 start developing in ekagra Chitta
Then move towards. Nirudhha state where Samprgyatah samadhi definitely happen then lead to aSamprgyatah
state
Khsipta n mudha yoga saplings will never grow
This happen in order - back n forth to next or previous state - ultimately you are going ahead
Samadhi can occur in All state here samadhi means state of concentration n not asamprgyant n Samprgyatah
samadhi
That is the idea of
Every bhumi certain level of concentration is there
Mudha concentrated in Tamsik state - I will do this that everything - to make money n what I want
Kshiptam concentration in rajasik state
But concentration is not yogic concentration
VB 1.2- lot about triguna n how they affect Chitta bhumi - at next class
Meditation no where defines dharna n Dhyan n samadhi
Med root - Indo European root Latin n French medicine meditation all same A
Med to take appropriate action to do in systemic way to think to ponder to consider
Decart philosophy French written 6 books on meditation but not what we understand
It is focus, ability to concentrate
Dharna ability to take mind to one object n hold it there
Dhyan hold it in your mind
Udan vayu to activate sit straight
Sit straight
Relax shoulder
Legs crossed
Hands on thighs
Face
Forehead eyebrows eyes cheeks jaws completely relaxed
Jaw let it drop jaw drop mouth will part up go to watching your breath don't have to take any efforts air just
goes in n falls out it is natural biological activity no effort just normal breathing
Take attention to nostril n become aware air entering nostril n exiting
Now feel the air temperature as it goes in n out as u inhale feel the cool air entering as u exhale feel the warm
air exiting
Become very aware of temperature of your breath
Put more efforts
Let cool air right into nostril no efforts in exhalation warm air flows out
Inhale cool air let it strike centre of your forehead n fall out
Now take awareness to point Centre of forehead from inside stare at that point eyes are closed keep looking
keep staring
Hold your staring from inside keep your attention very focused hold on to whatever u see their may be darkness
light colour nothing hold on to it
Keep staring looking whatever u have caught
Keep eyes closed
Bring awareness back to Breath
Eyes closed
Make some m
No moments in the body
Squeeze relax eyes lightly
Eyeballs right left centre tip of nose eyebrows
Squeeze n relax
Palm to eyes gently open eyes in side
Get familiar to darkness inside n slowly take palms down
Not want to talk everything around will be brighter
Homework -
Chose your one time of day whole week anytime that u are going to be alone max 10mins do this particular
practice This is Yogendra laya - laya is absorption - finally able to see nothing
Write down in diary your time

Trigunas have a homogeneous movement in each other in balanced state
When evolution begins heterogeneous movement begins
Rajas subordinated by Satva Businessman, Kriyayogis
Rajas supported by Tamas terrorist
Mudha dominated by Tamas deluded state with illusion wrong ideas Satva is mere absent
Tamas is dominated by Rajas
3 Gunas proportion are different in all
Vipkshit
Rajas held by Satva very focused
Sometime Tamas is dominant
Vipkshit with yoga practice rajas goes into Satva

DaminiMam's YogSutra class 21st June 2020

Why 21st June very special -
Sankrat - we begin Dakshinayan - it is unique - longest day sun begins its journey movement Southwards
All are Shastra mention importance of Dakshinayan - movement towards Yama Disha
Yama Refers to discipline, kind of writing out your whole life history, How to act n what to do in difficult
situation, Phase of going inwards introspection what I'm doing where I'm going introspect your nature
Chaturmas also comes now
Sun Capricorn Makar Rashi
16 December actual Dakshinayan begins but because of calculation in astrology 15jan
After 9000 years it will be in June
Chanting of Sutra 1.29 to 1.31
Samshay
Stithat tatvani
Syangmejaytva
1.16
Vairagya -
Indian Philosophy Vedas were life centric
Rishis had wife n children lived in mid society
Jainism n Buddhism began wearing white clothes n leaving worldly life started
Jajli rishi so many Siddhis conversing with God, God u like Tuladhar more then me
Birds have put nest in my Jata so much Tapa I have done
God says go n see what he does
He has business - responsibility to family - Tula Dhār does it Properly
We are born as human beings - born - looking after parents is duty - you have duties - that is important the way
u r suppose to live
Vairagya is not giving up life -
Malyu to na nathi
Na malyu to raah nathi
If you get no indulgence in it's presence
If u don't get no craving in its absence
Detachment is nothing owns you not that you own nothing
Human are born through desire it's innate in it
It's part of our Chitta DNA
See that desire does not entangle you
Buddha worldly desires lead you to enlightenment but Buddha's life n Preaching Show contradiction
1.15 vairagya sutra
Drastanusharvik
Through wisdom comes vairagya
Don't indulge like crazy
Don't have it don't crave for it
Anushravika - Things situation experiences
1.28
Tat that
Through his wisdom have transcended those desire that becomes Param Purusha
Description
khytair - wisdom not ordinary knowledge supreme wisdom - stithapragya - thru wisdom through practice rise
above guna become nirguna
Guna
With trushna vaitrushnyam
Nirguna does not mean no gunas - it means Established in satva
1.19 - Uttam adhikari
17-18 Samadhi sutra
Chitta - Drasta - MBI Mind body intelligence - awareness - start practicing - crossing the threshold - give push
little n you transcends
Only parama purusha can attain Samadhi
Abhyas towards vairagya to attain Samadhi
1.17 Different levels of Samadhi
Sampradnyat - stage not the ultimate it's not even a state, state means you have reached
Sam is with, along with
A
Sam prefix will have so many different application n different ways of understanding
Different contextual application
Along with Pradnya
Who is with pradnyat - some
Form of knowledge
Vitark Samprgyatah - tark is logic over here it refers to gross level - engross something outside - engross in
physical object - Yog samadhi of external object - Bhakti Tradition - swarup of God
You become one with external object is vitarka samadhi
You become one with book
Then that knowledge imbibes in you that is vichar Samprgyatah
Manasi SA paramita - is far superior then physical pooja
You n that is one
Vichar Samprgyatah char is movement - transcending movement of mind vichar MII abilities are focused on
that
Mentally becoming one with that
Ananda Samprgyatah how much joy there is - first time doing surgery without book or case in court
Āsmitā Samprgyatah
I am ness u don't need anything as u are, no external motivation or object are needed
Sahyogi n Sahyogini - nice terms
Samadhi is every moment it's not about sitting - it is joy which is lasting n not fleeting -
Next stepping stone -
Samadhi
Sam - here - coming together of all energies physical emotional mental pranic energy, a collection accumulation
union gathering
Prana is that which connects physical n mind - 5 prans
Blossoming is samadhi all forces have gathered together in dhi- which is you n they have Blossomed within you
A
dhi
DH from dhr dharyati - to sustain uphold in coherency balnaced unshattered steady way, you are established
that Experience will remain with you
Samadhi leaves imprint in Chitta lots of efforts goes into that Experiences- imprint is so strong we are ekagra
so much in it so it has to remain the impression it goes into subconscious as they are great things that happen
Kleshas have been overcome
1.18 another level of Samadhi
Knowledge is there in Chitta as imprint
Viram - rest after lot of efforts it is not pause
Pratyay - tricky word Yogendranji says force of the mind, mind intellect identify force that rests not forcibly -
anirvichay Experience
Ābhyāsa
Purva - done Abhyas before
Samskar - remaining at end only few samskar

We understood our Chitta n did our homework where is our Chitta n get into state of at least little bit of Nirodha
By abhygas n vairagya
Kansa always dislikes Krishna he is still thinking of Krishna
Likes n dislikes n attraction take back stage then only we can progress on path
Concept of samadhi n few experience we have see
1.17-19 - Samadhi Sutras
1.19 final stage that yogi has reached in Samadhi
1.19 - bhu - bhav to be born
Prtyaya - vishwas or experience
Videh out of this material world
Li root laya to merge into or beyond this
Prakriti
Now u r entering new phase of life cross over takes over totally a different experience
Tirtha word also means crossing over
Sadeh - embodied soul
Videh - pratyay is experience pratyaya is mind force as per Yogendranji
Prasantvahita mind is no longer chattering, by our choice we are holding over to it
It is avivarchaniya - can not express in words
Prithvi is base element in Panchmahabhuta
Samkhya Evolution is From Mahat to earth
Now we go back from base to mahat
1.19 Now yogi is going upwards towards mul prakriti
Sarga is evolution from prakriti n Purusha
Now it is other way around - term for this in Samkhya find that out – Upavarga
Ascent of consciousness now u r getting very intuitive very sensitive to rise up only happens when u leave other
bondgaes behind - when grace of divine descends we have to ascend
To reach there to a level to reach Guru's grace - you have to work
Young child wants something very badly walks in Mango orchards, jumps n jumps to get mango, one person
comes along n he does not lift him up but he lowers branch n he is able to pluck it - this is what guru does- push
by Guru as he sees us struggling n seeing your sincerity helps us ascend higher
Gurus grace is always there it is we who have to do efforts
20 what we have to do
Shraddha is not just faith
It is Firm unshaking belief In Guru, mantra, deity, whatever
If we have Shraddha even in any word it becomes successful
Vallabhacharyas tradition is unbelievable faith
Dha- dhru -dharayati that faith that will sustain you, faith based on conviction n inner experience n inner
intuition it is in completeness that this entity is never going to fail you or lead you wrongly
Ultimate guru is Ishwara shiv tatva you lead there if u have pure motive no ulterior motive
Greater energy will pull u over if you are lost
There is definite order if shradhha is there automatically strength comes virya come.
Come what may there is some energy some force will guide you
Something will happen n universe will be helping you
Virya strength comes
You stop worrying about things
Things are all for me to grow in that situation thanks universe even for Corona if we have to go we have to go
Smruti without aklishta smriti Vritti nothing will come
Swami Rama - Swami Ved Bharati's Guru
All time Continuously think of Yog sutra even in sleep, it should Become you - that much we owe to Mahrishi
Patanjali
Samadhi here means concentration word used in this context, focussed
Pradnya - this word has so much into it with all its nuisances.

3.Pratibha - is power of imagination - Poet n authors
These are qualities - Disciples should cultivate to have adhikar to enter into Yogsutra, these are 5 pillars that
every shishya should have
We need sadhan techniques
We practice sadhana
That leads to sadhya goal
Then when u reach u become sadhu
How we develop what we become
Purvak before u reach anywhere before anything happens before u climb the ladder these qualities should
develop
Other meaning of purvak also means full of all these
Shraddhavan labhte gynanam
Gyan trushna thirst for knowledge

1.23 - Ishwara Pranidhanadva
Still on path very eager MP says start with Shradhha
It does not begin you have to cultivate In you
Ishwar Pranidhanadva n Shradha are related
Mind is always chattering
Chattering with people n object should stop n should join with something that lifts u up
Your own consciousness gives you all answers
Gurus are so diverse
Dr Jaydeva was man of God very close to God
Yogendraji did not believe in God
Yoga is not about ishwara
Shrat - means true
Dha - to keep or to put that, to keep with true sense of mind
Vallbh Vedanta is only about Shradhha
Ishh - refers to having sense of power mastery like Shiva, Shiva is ishwara, all related Truth
War-one who posseses these powers
Ishawar has attributes character power mastery
Va - or very important
From here MP gives different techniques of ishwara
Set of Techniques For who believes in Ishwara
From sutras 33 every sutra va Is used, MP says or this or this or this
Narayana Tirtha commentary was all about Bhakti was a follower of Vallabhacharya
Pranidhan - Different in Buddhism, purana literature, Upanishad n jainism
Dha - samadhi dhāraṇā pranidhan Dhyan all have dha
Dha - to put very near
Pra - Very close devotionally
We are putting ourselves very close to Ishwara
Surrender - word puzzles me
King conquered - surrender it is negative, the right word as per me is offering
Your are offering yourself with love willingly happily
What this entity will do it you when we put Yourself into it
Christianity - fear God
You can't fear we have to love God
Ishwar normally will be male
Tantrik will have Goddesses
Upanishad - nirguna arupa n avyakata anirvichaniaya - which u can't put attributes
Our acharyas gave us form nirakar became sakar
nirguna became Sagun
Nirvikalpa became Savikalpa
Avyakta becamee Vyakata
Prakriti became aakriti
For human being it has become very important as we are finite beings
If there is Shraddha anything that happens you will take is peacefully n joyfully n conversation with god will be
Different, you become peaceful, you don't have fear became Abhaya
Narad Purana says
Mahatma Gyan purvashu
Gyan is important
No place for blind faith
Faith with all understanding no blank faith
Regret means no faith
Whatever was not destined to happen
You develop your own uniqueness
Not complacent
1.24 -
Ishawara is purush vishesh not Bhrahman not purushottam
Purusha -
Isha Consciousness that resides
Pura is place, in some place
It is unique - Vishesha - some special, Different
Other word is unique aparamrustah -

Aparamrustah - untouched, unaffected by
It is Alipta From
Klesha karma n vipak
aashayeyhi - big collection big store house of something
Full of Klesha karma vipak
Kleshas - 5
Karma
Vipak
Painful means we have tumbled on our path, lack of faith or somewhere we have gone wrong
Karma vipak - maturation of actions - actions even done mentally - we are bound by them
Ishwar is free from karma Bandhan
Mango tree is planted by farmer without attachment that he will get fruits
When we get attached to anything we have done it becomes karma vipak
Whenever u r close u are attached
Ishwar gives everything but never gets attached it is aparamrustah
Samkhya Karika - no place for special Purusha - Anishwarya
Samkhya in bhagvat Purana it is bhagwan
24th Samkhya Karika is Purusha
MP does not give purusha vishesha any form
Whatever Ishwara u believe in denotes a certain conceptual entity we have not seen it, it is construct we have
created in our mind, it is very personal
MP indirectly talking about connecting with that has no Klesha no bondage with Karma is unaffected is that
kind of energy
Ultimate is when u carrying it with you all the time not while doing lighting lamp or doing puja
Only human act through emotions leaving natural instincts
Every human being has potential to become ishwara
To reach highest human birth is required
Emotions are definitely in animals
But fructification of karma only happens when done in human birth
Satkarvada of Samkhya - Develop inner potential
MP is talking to all irrespective of desh kaal jaati
Va - 2 Meanings or (if u not believer) or for sure definitely for believers

Differences between pada vicched n sandhi viccheda
Specific rules of Śanskrit Grammar
- Sandhi can sometimes have 3-4 words - sandhi viccheda is breaking it into individual words useful for
understanding of actual words n sutra
- Pada vichheda words can be broken - not as much as sandhi breaks - break without distorting words but not
dividing into individual words, for ease of Recitation

यो यो यां यां तनुं र्भक्त: श्रद्धयाचचभतुममच्छनत |

तस्य तस्याचलां श्रद्धां तामेव ववदधाम्यहम ् || 21||

yo yo yāṁ yāṁ tanuṁ bhaktaḥ śhraddhayārchitum ichchhati

tasya tasyāchalāṁ śhraddhāṁ tām eva vidadhāmyaham
yaḥ yaḥ—whoever; yām yām—whichever; tanum—form; bhaktaḥ—devotee; śhraddhayā—with faith;
architum—to worship; ichchhati—desires; tasya tasya—to him; achalām—steady; śhraddhām—faith; tām—in
that; eva—certainly; vidadhāmi—bestow; aham—I
Translation
BG 7.21: Whatever celestial form a devotee seeks to worship with faith, I steady the faith of such a devotee in
that form.
Faith in the worship of the Supreme Lord is the most beneficial kind of faith, which comes with true knowledge.
However, if we look around us in the world, we find innumerable devotees of the celestial gods as well, who
engage in their devotion with firm and unflinching faith. We may wonder how these people develop such a high
level of faith in a lower form of worship.
Shree Krishna provides the answer in this verse. He says that faith in the celestial gods is also created by him.
When he sees people seeking to worship the devatās for the fulfilment of their material desires, he steadies
their faith and helps them in their devotion. The celestial gods themselves do not have the ability to generate
faith in their devotees. It is the indwelling Paramātmā (Supreme Soul), who inspires śhraddhā in them. As Shree
Krishna states in verse 15.15, “I am seated in the hearts of all living beings, and from me comes memory,
knowledge, and understanding.”
One may ask that why does the Supreme Lord create faith in the celestial gods, when such faith is
inappropriately placed. This is just as parents allow their children to shower affection on dolls as if they were
real babies. The parents know their child’s affection for the doll is out of ignorance, and yet they encourage the
child to love and play with dolls. The reason is that the parents know this will help develop qualities of affection,
love, and care, which will be beneficial when the child grows up. Similarly, when souls worship the celestial
gods for material gains, God steadies their faith, in the expectation that the experience will help evolve the soul
upward. Then, one day the soul will surrender to the Supreme Lord, understanding him to be the summum
bonum of everything.
1.26 - kalen anavacchedat
anavacchedat unlimited by time
MP is giving status of Guru to Ishwara.
Purvesham - From before Guru Parampara, Tradition of Guru has survived because we all have gurus will
become guru n will pass on - regressing into infinity - what we pass on must be without personal devotion n lot
of efforts that is the duty of Guru - Santana - unbroken - from unknown past to unknown future
64 generation of gurus in one upnishad - Mundaka Upanishad
1.27 - tasya of that
ISH verb to rule
Var to best
One who rules best is Ishwara
Chalel sharir konachi hi satta
vachak - indicator designator
Pranav - aum, PRA plus nav, excessively new every time as everyone accepts it
How do you adderess ishwara, greatest of energy, Swayameva swaichhaya bhvati, can Create n can regress all
creation in self too
Pranav tricky word
Mentioned in Skandha Purana, Upanishad n many other
Shiv Purana - PRA plus nav Nav is Boat get into boat to cross n egress
Pranu root - is prana ishwara is prana the energy

Next time 1.29 Sutra to discuss
Next time 1.33-1.39 Sutra Chanting

DaminiMam Class 15th On 26th July 2020

Chanting
1.30 take pause before bhrantidarshan
Cittavikshepastentaraya - together

S sign is avagraha it comes for अ

1.31 - Aejyatva Trembling Of Body

1.32 - done last class
1.33 -
Next week 1.34-1.39 chanting
Reabsorbed in primordial nature is prakritilayanam
We are still entangled in world by our habitual nature n distraction
Happens to even best of us
It is very important to get into this tract of Abhyas n vairagya
People on Bhakti Marg - are easy to handle - life Becomes easy for them- problem is there but God is there to
help me is their belief that helps them
That's why MP stresses lot on Ishwara Pranidhana sutra
Lighting Diya is reminder n connectivity to divine
1.29 -
Tatah from that from previous sutras of ishwara
Pratyayk
Chetana -
Adhigam - movement not physical movement but of Citti Shakti -Consciousness is moving inside from external
attention we are Giving to outside world n going outside to in. You are going to be beautiful inside n out. Dress
up when u go to temple as God is going to see u.
As u progress on yoga path - you are same both inside n outside - we don't wear mask n we are as we are - no
show off
Dr Jaydeva - when outside n inside is the same is yoga
This is time when you have offered to great entity u will feel it You become so sensitive n intuitive you can
recognise n feel the energy entity around u that is again what this sutra says
When Ur energy are directed inward n not outside
Second thing that happens is abhav removal of antaraya
This is Paradigm shift
Butterfly effect - Edward Loin - he wanted model to predict weather
Data was in fraction
When he left very tiny fraction prediction was wrong
Even tiniest effort will give u that quantum leap whatever u do it is bound to get outcome
Begin practice even at tiny level
Every time reinforce so that antaraya goes away - absence of obstacles
This sutra represents. Now focus shift to become self aware then comes intense realisation what we should do
Pratyak - in opposite direction sutra 2 - Consciousness that is most self aware
Sutra 3 - Pure Consciousness
Antaraya - normally obstacles
Antara Is break between two verses it is temporary obstacle that can be removed
They create temporary Break in Sadhna
Vyadhi - physical illness even simple headache - won't allow us to do Sadhna or concentrate. U can't think
clearly u get upset u can't do work physically
See Dr n resolve
Styan - kantala aala. Dullness lack of enthusiasm - mental illness - if u r mentally depressed u are not into
practice
Samshay - doubt - start questioning is ok - samshaya is doubt not only outside world but inside on self too - we
forget we have that potential inside - just rely on yourself your intuitive capacity goes up
Outside world will cheat that is not the reason to lose faith on self
You r strong to handle
Another is doubt on your own potential
Antaraya is because of our inbuilt nature
Epigenetics - we can even change our DNA- only we n only we can change our samskara
Pramad - Carelessness - postponing
Aalsya - Mudha Chitta
Now we get into problem area
Avirati - lack of strength no -
rati attraction love attachment.
Virati - detachment
A - is second negation - meaning is same attachment
Attachment does not allow u to progress
Being attached is the problem
Attachment makes u lose control
Sanskrit no perfect word always in English n it's contextual
Raga - is love or Liking
Avirati - Craving for worldly pleasure
Raag attachment
Avirati - craving my son is not looking at me doing this for me after he is married
Rati or avirati - Craving is more intense n deep it's not normal attachment rag
Rag can be attachment to anything
Avirati - deep rati kind habituated to love n when u lose, your balanced is disturbed
Avirati is situation based n temporary
Raag is inherent to a person, Klesha are something that u r born with, it's personality
Antaraya are temporary will come n go
Avirati - we are so used to gratification - pleasure principle - you feel you have right over it
Launch of channel
Settle down close eyes
Body relaxed
Shoulders relaxed
Jaws dropping
Cheeks eyes eyebrow relaxed
Observe your inhalation n exhalation
Meditation session

DaminiMam Class 16th On 9th Augut 2020

Next 1.34-1.39 chanting
On 1.30 on Avirati we were
1.34 - Prachardanna
Vidharnabhyam va Pranasya
1.35 - Niban-dhini
1.36 -1.39
1.30 - Tells us what causes break in our path but we get drawn back to path
Reasons for obstacle
One we face personal conflicts- why I'm like this, not say no or why can't I do this
Other is conflicts with
Outside world - difficult to handle spouse partners children parents
People's problem
Another is Situational problems - situations don't work to our Liking - all based to our action to situation
The Breaks are of Different kinds Ultimately it is ourselves the way we take it and react
Obstacles come because we don't set a goal, we flow through life but not in a beautiful way. But we don't know
where we want to go. And we are unaware also that we have a problem.
MP is making us aware of our problems
Avirati - double negation -
Vi - when it is added, transcending or rising over attachment
A - we are unable to rise n transcend, we get trapped
Next Bhrantidarshan - Bhrama - to wander around, bhranti - illusion or Delusion - things not happening in real
- trapped in wirlpool of illusion
NLP - neurolonguistic programming - this is going to happen n it will happen - think perfectly- brain has to
experience - but do not think of useless things like increasing in height Change of skin colour
Abundance course -
These are both Bhrantidarshan
It is mostly associated with material things
Material world is temporary n fluid n illusonary - that if is our goal - u get trapped
Every thoughts create impression- they gain foot hold in citta n make vasna
We look for something permanent in impermanent
Vikalp is also illusionary, it can be used positively n negatively
Vikalp when it becomes klishta it becomes bhrantidarshan
Manas is real not illusionary - it comes from satvik ahankar - evolute of it
Annam bhrameti - Anna is not only food it is Material n is Bhrahaman Which is real
Alabhdha - labh is to get, labdh we have achieved or acquired
Alabdha - not acquiring or not achieving
bhumitatva - thing, place or position

A, अ is used as prefix in many words

A, अ can be used in Six different ways

1. As abhav अर्भाव- absence of something

2. Anayta अदयता - other than that

3. Alpatah अल्पतः - little, have gain something but little

4. Aprashshya -अप्राशस्य inappropriateness - have that not what I want it is inappropriate

5. Virodh ववरोध- something contrary to what I need

6. Sadrashya साद्रश्य - similar to that but not what I wanted

Bhumi -
Learning YS - Gaining that in memory - u don't do it for 6 months - it will go off
State of balance, equipoise, yoga - we can not sustain n we go n in out of it... We are there but we can not hold
it - alabdhabhumiktava
We Become insecure n try n Gain so many different things from different places but come back to Yogsutra.
Go do what u want flounder around (alabdha Bhumiktatva)
Avistha - firmly at one place
An - unsteadiness or chanchalta
Stitha - stable in one place
Tatvani
Asana train body n mind to stay steady n not lose balance
Here it is mind loses balance
We don't have faith in our self
Anavsthitatvani - Mental state which does not Remain stable it goes for toss with the world
These are only breaks in our practice
Citta
Vikhepa - vi upsarga - Citta gets thrown around here there every where
It is all up to us how we come over it
1.31 - somebody says something happens
sadness dukh
U sit n cry or throw something - tapping pillow EFT?
First thing that happens
Dourmnasya - Mind gets afflicted goes for total toss n u r unable to do anything - there is mental anguish n loss
of ability to think
Related also to shad ripus
Angam e jaytvam - shaking tremors - body is drained - n u shake - Mind has influence on body
Shvas Prashavasa -
Vikshepa - inspiration n expiration also go for toss
Sah Bhuv - along with that they are accompaniments
Maya is word in Upanishad n used Differently by Different person we will discuss someday

Discussion from sutra 1.32

Damini Mam Class 17th On 16th August 2020

Today's Sutra 1.40 chanting Discussion from Sutra 1.32
Chanting
1.40
1.41 - Grahitru
1.42-
1.43 - Add Tatra Before the sutra
Sutra 1.32 - this is quantum leap Sutra. Sutra that takes u to next level. All of sudden something happens in our
practice, awareness develops. I have become very acutely aware of myself. Extremely perceptive of yourself.
After this MP gives you very specific instructions. It's a key or manthan sutra.
Because of break body mind n breath has gone haywire.
When u have so many obstacles bothering. Sit down n start focusing on any one principal n get back into balance
n focus stage.
Tat - from
Prati - towards sometime to do away, sometime directions so contextual application
Shedhartham To let it go, to prevent, to overcome, to ward off, to transcend, to forbid, distancing distancing is

MP some attained n are out
Other have to practice n how to handle life - from 1.20
Connect to Ishawara
Taken in to Different personalized character in many lives - as this life experiences based on so many n many
many life times
According to our personalities n character choose Technique
Bhakata already have faith n Shraddha - they are first addressed - Ishawara Pranidhandva
Even for bhakta what happens -when big earth shaking Experiences occur - then faith gets tossed
So MP tells us antaraya - n tells about personal relationships problem - Parikarmas
Till it is handled exhale n let go
1.35 - what state mind has to hold, balanced state - so many ways on becoming one pointed
Next sutras will shatter some myths that we have 1.36
1.36 -sukumar taram - prakriti has to be liberated
Vedanta - Ananda swarupa - Sat Chitta Ananda
I have physical emotional pain - but every one has some kind of problem
Sankhya begins with pain - as soon as we take birth we cry - pain is inclusive in the live
Enlightened Intellect -Mati - illuminated mati -
Shoka - grief pain angst (hydegar, kirtkar, sath existential philosophy)
He has not used Ashoka - without pain (like avidya aklishta)
Two way gain - Vishoka

Add on to Technique
Intellect when enlightened helps to transcend pain
He has not used term Manas - mind - mind is seat of emotions - can not help to overcome pain
Enlightened Intellect overtake becomes guide of mind and become source to get rid of pain
If no pain - no growth - no make up time - no fun in life
Jyoytishmati Thinking reasoning power - cultivation of interact to over come pains of every day
Parameters to judge this - how quickly we get out of it shows Jyoytishmati - pain happened - I got upset - but

1.37 Vitarag Vishayam Va Cittam

DaminiMam Class 25th 11th October 2020

Sutra Chanting From 2.1
Discussion - 1.37 Vitarag Vishayam Va Cittam
Ravi Pushaymrut Yog Again Today
Every time we do sutra it is important to establish flow n link with Previous Sutras
35 onwards MP talks about Vishay Objects
Manas Stithi - is to be established in balanced state
Nibandhini - we are going to be bound in that state
Pravrutti - action. Vishay associated with Objects of Senses
Vishoka va Jyoytishmati - here term Vishay is not used
Now Mati Is Used - Buddhi
Now I have to handle internal object - without using term Vishay it is implied in this sutra
Those powerful internal Vishaya are targeted - Deep inside
Vitarag Vishayam Va Cittam
Vishay is object of that Chittam
Va or
Vitarag - give away attachment
Chitta has given away all that attachment has discarded has not kept within itself of attachment of objects n no
longer is afflicted by all these objects
Vitarag free from attachment
We need role models whatever we go through - for support
Who has gone through same situation
We all have potential in seed form n yoga helps.
Some trivial thing also bother you n topple our lives over n that is why these sutras are helpful n
Guru teaches are so so important to help us in living
Man came to guru small house
1.39 swapnanidraalamban va
Nidra as deep sleep is vritti
Here he brings about Swapna Vikalp Avastha - not vritti
During deep sleep no dreams at all mind is at stable state but waves are there
We are not talking about dreams that we forget
Gyan of that knowledge of dream that we recollect in morning u can remember it may be totally unrelated or
haphazard
*Brain Waves n Dissecting Mandukya Upanishad*
_Dr Ramesh Bhashya_
*Jagrut Avastha*
Beta Waves in normal activities jagrut Awastha
*Jagrut Avastha* - engrossed in constructive creative activity as Hobby or Profession- painting, playing
instrument, classical dancing when you lose sense of your body awareness n become Somone else - Theta
waves
*Sushupti*
Non Random Eye Moment Sleep -
alpha waves in stage 1 sleep, theta waves in stage 2 sleep, sleep spindles, k complexes
Stage 3-4 very slow wave sleep (upto 4Hz) delta waves
*Swapna*-
Random Eye Movement Sleep - Brain Activity Like Awake State - Dreams Happen During Sleep
For Yogi Jagrut n Swapna Awastha Is Same - and this is the medical proof for it - we are all awake and all
dreaming - as this all is unreal still living dreams n sleeping in dreams
*Jagrut -Dhyan*- First Waves Are Theta Waves
*1.Jagrut- Samadhi 2.Jagrut- Turiya state 3.Jagrut Vibhuti state 4.Sadeha-videha state while being alive n
meditating*
As u start seeing n experiencing chakra Colours, see things, perceive, leave body n travel, get siddhis is all
gamma waves
According to me Jagrut Awastha is of six kinds (4+ Top2)
Plus Sushupti
Plus Swapna
Swapna is Also Jagrut state for reality is dream that we are experiencing n dream is also reality experienced
Which makes Seven levels of Jagrut State n one remaining is Sushupti
*या दे वी सवभर्भूतेषु शजक्त-रूपेण संजस्थता। नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥*

The powerhouse of all living organisms is in cell in the form of mitochondria which manufactures ATP which is
fuel for cell the energy molecule. Mitochondria comes 100% from mother that is why women are called Shakti
- they give the apparatus to all living organisms that generates the energy. That is what is my interpretation of
Shakti n Above shloka

*या दे वी सवभर्भत
ू ेषु शजक्त-रूपेण संजस्थता। नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥*

Sutra Chanting From 2.1
Discussion - 1.46
Tā eva savījaḥ samādhiḥ||46||
Taha - mentioned before
Eva -
Savijah - with seed
Samadhi -
Nirvicāravaiśāradye'dhyātmaprasādaḥ||47||
Nirvichara - stable state of mind
Vaisaradye - from visarad - parangat - one who is expert beyond, mastery, expertise
Adhytamaprasad - he gets
Adhyatam - adhi - in on + atam - oneself or ownself - related to para Brahma - gets grace of supreme spirit
Body is our temple n needs lot of care love n nourishment
In that we start learning lot of things - senses perception heightens
This is at gross level
MP now makes us understand subtle realms of citta
All problems (sutra 30) created by monkey mind - we brought in Buddhi - ACC to Sankhya n yoga without Buddhi
we will fall apart - only with that we know what we need - n it will connect with consciousness
Adhytama is spiritual path we going medium is body
When Buddhi comes in play - who I am - aurobindo uses - decent n ascent - when human ascents - universal
grace descents - as we ascent - universal grace descents
What blocks our efforts?
Samapati n samadhi - along with rational thought other thoughts are happening - savitarka
Nirvitarka - transcending thoughts - reasoning is no longer is required
Vichar - citta is there - spandanshil - there is movement - grazing -
Nirvichar - even that movement stops
46. Ta Eva Sabij Samadhi - those states or stages of - every stage becomes state - becoming of something -
continuing from previous States - you will attain this samadhi - till now it is Sabji with seed - seeds are the
saṁskāras - normal desires are flowing with universal desires - not negative desires anymore - to ascend
positive beej that Will take u to journey of spirituality - craving that will make your life Beautiful more vibrant
more peaceful
This samadhi is important - this are actually happening in each one of us - trying to learn getting engrossed - in
sutras - 24x7 Samadhi -. Even in waking state
There are problems - from holdings on to things - start getting out of it to eliminate of old saṁskāras - if they
are active mind can't be in harmony or at peace
47 - Nirvicāravaiśāradye'dhyātmaprasādaḥ||47||
Goal is mastery - vaisaradye - adhi - in all which way
Citta which was always projected outside is now focused inwards and all energy goes inside
Here adhyataman - now projection is inward - inner direction - I master myself my problem n start resolving it
48 -Ṛtambharā tatra prajñā||48|
Tatra
Rutumbhara - rutam is used in classical literature - Satyam - is permanent - rutam is root word ru is to go to
move so it can change - next state - rutam is divine truth - cosmic truth
Bhara - filled with divine truth
Pra - prakaeshen - superior grasping power - Pradnya - is one of the 3 Buddhi
Pradnya grasping power superior power
49
Śrutānumānaprajñābhyāmanyaviṣayā viśeṣārthatvāt||49||
Shruta
Anuman
Prajna
Bhyam
anya Vishaya
Vishesharthatvat
Till now we have understand new thinking new saṁskāras have happened within us - restructuring n
recalibration of citta is happening - now new citta - old are replaced by new saṁskāras - before musician play
instrument - they tighten loosen strings - recalibrate -
Rutam - Knowledge is normal n complicated knowledge we are talking about Pradnya is wisdom - when it
comes everything becomes simple n flows - so simple in its truth force
New person has emerged - Rutumbhara Pradnya
Knowledge is gained - wisdom is revealed - revelation - it is something Risen from within
It bestows oneself upon this - n seeker now becomes seer - in ancient rishis it happened - from effects of
Sadhna
Knowledge requires normal Buddhi intellect
Artha is unique is different not mundane n worldly that will go on till we are living - now we have a new
dimension new vision - now u r stepping into new dimension - last two sutras - take that leap - inner glory inner
light is there
Tajjaḥ saṁskāro'nyasaṁskārapratibandhī||50||
Tajjah - gone from that one
Saṁskārah - refined from
Anya saṁskāra - other saṁskāras
Pratibnadhi - automatically stopped

Tasyāpi nirodhe sarvanirodhānnirvījaḥ samādhiḥ||51||

Tasya
Api - when that is also blocked
nirodhe - rutambhara Pradnya is also blocked
Sarva
Nirodhat - from all that is blocked
Nirvij
Samadhi - and we attain nirvij samadhi
Pra n na -
Tat - that
ja - born from that
New saṁskāras born of Rutumbhara Pradnya -
All other saṁskāras - which were obstructing our progress - new saṁskāras block them n they do not bother u
anymore - they don't allow them to manifest or return
only thing we need to do is Practice Practice Practice constant uniterrupted
Pratibnadhi - prevents blocks them to resurface - reaching grand finale sutra
New citta - it is devoid of old saṁskāras n quantum leap has to be taken - as even this new saṁskāras will also
Prevent the leap - we should not get attached n get entangled - new Samaskaras are to be developing yet having
Wisdom that even these saṁskāras should go away - we need to achieve it to let go off
- once u reach there u need to take leap - MP does not describe how to take leap - no one can teach how - it
has to happen on its own
New saṁskāras - have to go to reach nirvija samadhi
Ni - very cleverly very understandingly with lot of knowledge n Wisdom - not forcefully - with lot of efforts being
there done all that
- all citta vrittis are nirodh
- then nirvaj samadhi happens - no saṁskāras bother us - no seed there
- everything manifests from within - so much faith in universe, so much faith in existence, realisation who yogi
is
- nothing affects u - no saṁskāras are there to take pendulum to this side or that side
- citta - sūkshma sharir still remains - till u pass away - yogin if attends videha mukti - then bhav pratyaya -
videha prakriti layanam happens - nothing remains for yogin to take rebirth - these are concepts
- have to be understand n Experienced - not talked about
(Hydegar Philosophy - Being being n becoming - small being becomes Big Being - complete new citta, every
being has born to become big Being) - this citta can be reborn as Normal citta to do some specific work
Choice less awareness - Krishan Murthy - concepts in yoga are not choice less - will is very important - quantum
leap happens when we cross over
Liminal space - in-between space - just before leap - not exact moment of being awake n asleep - within space
time continum - walking across the uncharted space - u need to enter liminal space to cross over - master pieces
happen in that time - it is u who is doing it - no one can tell u or help u - it is the one who Wills walks thorough
it - here no guru no instructors no word -
Consciousness rises beyond its entrapment of its own tendancy
It's manifest itself of its own universal glory.
Sukshama sharir transmigrates to next life - your own nature own attitude - each one of us is born with it
6 conditions that define biological entities

Chapter 1 seeds planted in us
Chapter 2 nurturing of seeds in us. It's main aim is to ground us and strengthens our roots. It's Reinforcing,
Reconnecting. Pratyabhijña n Vimarsha - are connected to chapter 2. We are recognising. Recentering.
MP Tells us instantly technique plus goes deeper and deeper.
Sadhan is one part of whole journey - it is just the way, path, techniques. Greek techno - doping something with
knowing, with understanding, with skills, systemically
Sadh is root word

*Daminimam Class 31st 13 Dec 2020*

.
First chapter - showed path to highest n got done with them but so many caught in the trap in jagat and samsar
(as per mahaprabhu ji) - craving to live in it n not got trapped in frustration n issues - it is of grace Maharshi
Patanjali. Many commentaries. One says it is with very great compassion - Karuna MP gives us 2nd chapter for
all of us who are seeking this path.
First sutra path of Action. He is repeating ishwarpranidhanani - he knows the deficiencies within us. First accept
the problem is there. We have lot of mala - dehamala - physical impurities and citta mala - mental impurities.
Reducing intensity of mala is the purpose of the 2nd chapter. It is like symptomatic treatment. Kriya yoga is
how we begin to reduce our external nature. All of us have dual nature. We show something n inside is
different.
Tapah - root word tapa - burning impurities - continuosly do things - accept without expectations - let life flow
through us. Pain is to teach you something - life has something colorful Experiences. Change your approach to
way we live n look at life - swadhyay - reflecting why I am behaving like this - let me change myself. Creativity
comes out of yourself.
Anatrang bahirang becomes one with kriya yoga.
.
*Daminimam Class 32nd 20 Dec 2020*
.
Vyas means understanding and analysis.
Sutra 1 - vyas bhasya talks about cittabhumi
Mahabhashya - also start in same manner - so Raja Bhoj says mahabhashya n Yogsutra are written by same
We are all Vyuthan or vyutith citta - we are trying - we are learning - not always unbalanced - mostly vikshipta
citta - sometime very ekagara citta and we have to become yogayukta - we may or may not become
Siddha are prakriti layanam already 1.19
Dayakrishna - western perspectives or look out on Indian philosophy
Where does my problems come from - MP n Aranya explain - say our impurities are Anaadi - beginningless time
- no body knows - no answer to where this comes from - so we fall back to karma theory
MP Does not define term vritti, Guna, prtayay, saṁskāras, vishayvati, pravritti
Sutra 2.1 - path of action
Aranya says it as Triple samyama
Tapa - discipline of Kaya
Swadhyay - discipline of speech
Manas - devoted to ishwarpranidhanani
MP does not define this 3 words
Tap from root taap - to burn body mind impurities
Breath connects subtle n gross mind n body
Purification - Citta Prasad has to happen, happens through tapa
Something austerity - what will you do
Perseverance - how you will do it
Dedication -
To be able to find your own technique to refrain from it
Tapa should be based on swadhyay - not just blind - do with lots of understanding n reflection
Human mind has vast potential to think n develop
As we are attracted to world we are attached to it n have expectations come
This all we have to get out through tapa
Duty is all about role playing
Sadharana Dharma - normal day to day activities that u do, situation based
Vishesh dharma
Ashram dharma - every ashram has its duty
Gruhastha has most complex duties
Vanprashatha - freedom from duty
Anukul movie - human Robert - satyajeey ray film - in end Robert interprets bhagvad Geeta concept
Everything has to be understood in context
Silence is not speaking - it is silence of mind, silence citta - then we don't speak unnecessarily
Not speaking is not silence
Meditation is not mauna
Sleeping is not mauna
When u r in mauna u are alert but without disturbance
Speak with wisdom only required
Once u get established in mauna - Creativity emerges
Then this stithi becomes Shaj - spontaneous
Sutra 2.1 - to come over my habitual nature, klishta tendency which increase our klesha has to reduce
Nagoji Bhatta Vachaspati Mishra this 3 are karma gyan n Bhakti
.
*Daminimam Class 33rd 27 Dec 2020*
.
2.2 - Samadhibhavnarthah Kleshatanukarnarthasch
Entire chapter 2 is about kriya - Kaya vacha manas - all actions
We are interacting with people - we are thrown into world and world becomes overwhelming with that weight
we suffocate n drown. Here is we have time to look at our self. What is my problem reflect and then take action
- tapah with full self understanding n not shifting to focus to other because we have to grow, evolve, become
better, because we want peace.
Artha here is for purpose to designed to focus on penultimate
First big goal should be samadhi
Then you can fit in all other purposes.
Bhav - normal inner feelings
Bhavna - innate intrinsic disposition of anything, intrinsic is inherent, bhav is intrinsic, it is our characteristic it
is our personality - some one is full of love compassion, someone is always angry irritated,
Disposition - it is not exact, not permanent, it is you are predisposed to react or act in some way but they are
changeable and have potential to change - Bhavna is repeatedly doing again n again everything in your capacity
to change that disposition from one state to a higher state - what aurobindo talks about - ascent. Dr Neil Bernard
- how one changes food habits to become Healthy - human being has potential to reverse themselves -
pratiprasav - going back to source

Talk only when u are mauna - mauna 24x7 talk only when required
Sukshma gatirhi dharmashya
Tanu - will reduce klesha - weaken the force of klesha
Kriya is yoga
Karan Is all actions that fall under kriya yoga all have a purpose of reducing klesha n moving towards goal of
Samadhi.
Every action you do become yoga.
Karma are of different kinds
1. Yagyaartha -
2. Sadharana - daily action - bath brush eat sleep work
3. Vishesh - Special - doctor patient duty
4. Nimit - situational - occasional - certain ceremonial actions - vedic in nature
.
Kruthvartha karma - artha is purpose - every action you have to do you have to do come what may
Hansaji - girl disliked children with runny nose and had two children with always runny nose
Yagyaartha karma - all Karma all. Action should be offering - yagnya it is not sacrifice it is offering - everything
we are doing is offering to universe or to us and we are part of universe - if every action becomes yagnya -.
Then you can not do anything wrong.
Whenever we love, we shout, we talk is yagnya - everything is yagnya - the whole look n purpose changes
Geeta also talks about Kruthvartha karma.
Kriya yoga - yagnyartha karma to climb ladder up to samadhi - all klesha habits have to be weakened to reach
there

Second chapter is about kriya yoga and purpose is samadhi and kelsha reduction. So we should know kleshas
first that is why Mahirishi Patanjali Defines all kleshas. Attachment causes trouble. Dislike causes hatred. Both
are inherent. Final kleshas is culmination of all.

Fear of death is also not mentioned anywhere in sutra.
So intense and acute many things - effects
1. Threat to my existence - what if I tumble fall or someone kills me. Fear comes in because of threat
2. Fear of change - so ingrained in it, I can't change my place, my college, my children - what will happen if this
will change In my life - I am never prepared for it when I'm troubled, as I have taken everything granted - if this
does not happen I will not learnt
3. Fear of confrontation - hidden obstacles all because of avidya (Homework how all this fits in with Raga
dwesha n asmita)
4. Fear of talking responsibilities
5. Threat To self esteem - someone tells or does thing, being rude, someone else gets praised I don't, I don't

Western philosophy limited consciousness to very limited understanding now they are exploring
Dr Steven Pinker IIT doing research on consciousness n Sheep Dolly
Swami Sarva Priya Nanda videos
So much confusion in concept of conscience
Let's restrict to intellect n mind
Process of blossoming - does not mean we become that absolute rose - it is a process
Till moment we pass away learning is going on
Sutras are telling us Be creative, be sustainable in harshest situations - Blossoming to your true potential
Perfection is boring be continually creative
We are born with certain characteristics and keep on trying how best we can create master pieces but don't
get stuck or stop at that and find new meaning to sutras
Klesha - Klish - Painful experience - they are my kleshas - when I started knowing - I started knowing outside
things - asmita avidya - then MP brings in attachment expectations is a big problem Raga n Dwesha - things
happen because of attachment - dwesha - how do I manage - abhinevesa - fears - what if he does not do this
or what if he does this - abhinevesa enters in Variety Of ways
MP dedicates whole chapter to how to overcome to all these fears

Karl Popper - Concepts of 3 worlds - material world, intellectual world, 3rd intellectual brings new theory n
concepts
Popper split the world into three categories:
World 1: the world of physical objects and events, including biological entities
World 2: the world of individual mental processes
World 3: the world of abstractions that emerge from and have an effect back on world 2 through their
representations in world 1.
Systems philosophy - one more thing to learn - some other day
2.10
Te Pratiprasava Heyah Sukshmaha
Prasava - being born
Pratiprasava - MP is telling us gping other way around - it is going back from outward to inward - involution
Tey - those kelshas
Go back - withdraw from that - not talking about sublimation
Heyah - whatsoever we are doing is yagya - ya is unification of all my energy - Gya - Wisdom - All are offering -
as you offer you become empowered
Sukshmaha - very subtle - times they are visible - angry, cry
Heyah - reducing first then diminishing and one day it will go away
Gross form of Kleshas become subtle
Because I don't want to suffer
I want to grow from outside in
MP Begins Techniques

Dyan - Heyah
We have potential to heal within
For outside help to work I need to work within
Those vritti painful hurting can be diminished by Dyan
Sutras from next chapter from next class to understand Dhyan Concept
It will explain Process of how it works - every moment becomes dhyan, healing moment, Pratiprasava
Homework revise 5 vritti n see if it is
Knowledge of truth hurt me
Misperceptions of truth hurt me
Imagination hurt me
Memory still hurt me
Do I dream of that
Path of self discovery

Nirodh parinam means a change transformation has happened
Nirodh kshan - even for moment when vyuthit chitta can be sublimated nirodhchitta happens

How to use this Energy that we have to channelise it
This is called ekagra parinam
Totally one pointed - what you are doing - where u are going
How do we act - with absolute understanding awareness peace balance not reacting
Dhyan - awareness everything that you do will have its reaction so become aware
Entire chapter 2 is about this three parinam
1. Nirodh - bring it down Sublimate
2. Samadhi
3. Ekagrata

Sutra recitation - 2.12 to 2.14
Why we are stuck in our practice MP tells Klesha
Then says Dhyan Heystad Vrittayah 2.11
Then stops
It is very strategic placement of sutras - for us to understand that this is the moment where we need to change
our whole vrittis
Vritti is energy - going in one direction - vritti are inherently negative - it is easy to be laid astrain - very difficult
to find friends who will take us to positive path
To weaken vrittis - reduce Impact first of vrittis - this is called as energy change in flow of vrittis - it takes efforts
to change course of mighty flow of vrittis - external practice should be internalised.
Must be translated into change in inner self. From bahiranga to antarang. Psycholophysical structure of Vrittis
are inherent in us.
Iti vasti te vasana, vasna become pnemonic images that become samaskaras in psycholophysical subconscious
mind - present with inborn potential.
Walking tight rope on balanced way is helped by dhyan.
How do I retain myself in imperfect world is dhyan. New structure new shape we are creating new self in
imperfect world by dhyan.
Some cause makes us do react and dhyan has to be the paradigm shift and cause for our behaviour and action.

the opportunity of being born as humans. That by itself, should be considered as our privilege and utilized with
utmost respect.
- Even if one is born as a human, not everyone gets the desire or drive to work towards liberation (Moksha). A
very few of the few beings are inspired with this desire.
- In spite of being inspired to attain Moksha, not everyone is lucky enough to get the company and proximity
of the learned and enlightened.
Those who are blessed with the above three are truly fortunate. They should make use of every ounce of it and
count their blessings along the way.
7. Purusha n prakriti bondage is eliminated and consciousness shining forth -things will start falling in place -
consciousness is showing its splendor - as so many things covering it are removed

Before MP gives his eight fold path
Yoga now refers path medium to reach end gain the goal sutra 1.2-1.3.
Anusthan- one word encapsulates entire spectrum of practices, Praytana, Shraddha Memory, prajna,
samadhana.
Has many Nuisance to it - from subtle to gross
Kshaye - destroying – guarenting destruction of assudhi - purified not gone away - MP has not said Abhav.
Lifetime Mental asuddhi are difficult to purify, physical asuddhi are easy to treat.
Jnandiptihi - how are these asuddhi destroyed - only through light of knowledge - jnandiptihi. This wisdom alone
will shows how and what I must do.
Aavivekkhyatehe - We have to perceive path until that wisdom comes. Till discrimination comes - how to look
at your life with different perspective
Perspective is important - scale is important
Practice with absolute commitment -
Yoga should live in each and every cell of us

Sutra means connecting
2.29 - Yama n Niyama
Purpose of our life is to fulfil our karma - and people n situation around us are fruits of our own karmas
This situation is like an atom bomb - it is ready - it has potential within

(Those Yama-s or Restraints turn into) a great (mahā) vow (vratam) (when they are for Munis
It becomes Anu Vrata for normal householder - Vrata
Vrata is fulfilment of duty, it is consideration of responsibility, I become responsible for my action, it is
undertaking promissory note - I promise myself to do this action
Vrata - Vritti - Tra - Liberation from mental hangouts - liberate us from our mental vrittis
Practice in Absolute sense - Mahavratas for Munis - Maha - greatest of greatest
Anuvrata - for rest
Yama n Niyama are mahavratam Jati - not species - represents - male - female, Desh - wherever you live, kal -
any century or any era, samay - moment, anytime of day or night, Sarvabhuama - whether represents chitta -
manifest my entire mindfield - vikshipta - is kshipta state which is beginning to rise - perfect to start practice -
irrespective of whatever we are wherever we are - it has to become a mahavratam.
Bhakti should be based in Jnana then bhakti gets tremendous substratum on which we can live on, grow on,
change on
Karma yoga is yamas
Niyamas are personal things later on
Yamas come first and are basics of yoga philosophy
Yama -
Yama scares us but are path of action n it takes you to path of yoga
Prayer from Isha Upanishad Verse 16 -Sohamashmi

Om
Meaning of the Prayer Hymn:
Oh the Basis, the Unique, the Controller, the Propeller (Sun),
Lord of lives, remove the ensemble of rays!
Whichever is Your form, brilliant and auspicious, I see That in You. Whoever is That Being, I am Him!
Notes:
1. pUShan - supporter; EkarShe - the only; vyUha - remove; rashmin - rays; samUha - withdraw.
2. The epitets mentioned in the hymn refer to sun at a gross level
and the Supreme in the subtle level.
Sun is the basis for this whole system to function. (Pushan - supporter)
There is only one sun (EkarShe).
Sun controls the activities - its movement determines the day and night. (yama)
Sun is the propeller - energy giver (Surya)
All the lives depend on sun for their sustenance and propagation (prAjApatya)
All the above apply to the Supreme Lord.
3. yO&sAvasau puruShaH sO&hamasmi
Whoever is That Being, I am That!
The seeker in this world requests sun to remove the gross glitter.
In the sun the seeker sees the Inner Being Who energizes the sun, who in turn energizes this whole system.
The seeker then identifies that Inner Being as the One verily in him. It is that very same Supreme Lord Who is
in the sun,
resides in me too!
The Ashtamurthi principle is to be recollected here.
God is resident in - sun, moon, in five elements
(air, fire, water, earth and space) and soul.
So the seeker sees the Shiva in both sun as well as own soul.

Also in brihdaranyak Upanishad.

Mantra were in oldest Veda- Rig Veda - This mantra is explained in different Upanishad
In brihdaranyak Upanishad it is about death - person dying recites it
Why dying person recites - relation to Yama
Yama - normal context is death
Yama - discipline or regulation of life span
Randomness is part of Indian philosophy
Everything that has a set yet changeable pattern, everything has reason, purpose,
Moving through all the maces n puzzle - Yama shows a certain path or way In the middle So that we don't lose
ourselves n come back n continue the journey
Pushann - nourishing, nourisher, the giver
Ekarshe -the only one
Yama - greatest discipliner, sun is constant it never rises or sets it is the only one who governs solar system
Surya- represents light. Energy
Prakash - light of consciousness is derived from
Prajapati - creator of, source of all life
Vyuha - spread
Rashmin - rays are soothing
Samuha Teja - when rays are gathered - powerful - Teja can be destroying
Sun has that power in all It's different times - sometime soothing sometimes scorching
You need balance of power
Yati rupam kalyanam -That form of yours is benificial - allows blossoming, evolution
Vedic rishis were strong intense nature lover

तत ् तॆ पश्यामम tat tey - I can see that

That being that you are

यॊऽसावसौ पुरुषः सॊऽहमजस्म - that is also I - I need to recognise myself

Pratyabhignya - recognise of myself- realising - recognise

2.29 - entire eight fold path
2.30 - introduce us to Yama
Ahimsa, Satya, Asteya, Bhrahmacharya, Aparigraha - order is important
Yama is to manage interpersonal relationships
Order of Yama is very important in practice
Maharashi Patanjali has not defined them
Ahimsa is primary then Satya then all others
Ahimsa - is everything you don't have to practice anything else if you practice it
Act of violence
Mental physical violence n through speech
Minimal to major
Is MP talking about violence to others?
Violence towards any living creature
Very tricky
Food - Upanishad - I don't kill animal - I Buy it - whatever can move thorough it's on will - you kill is Ahimsa -
every living creature Experiences abhinivesha - fear of death
Himsha self - I am getting hurt by something is also himsa
Being judgemental is himsa
Everything carries it's own karmic imprints
Just become very aware of what we are thinking - thoughts - speech becomes action
Reduce your expectations, take life as it comes as it is - is Ahimsa
Satya n Ahimsa Go Hand In Hand
Satyam vad dharmam chara
Satya is very tricky territory

Sat सत- to exist what is factual

We are not seeing Satya as right or wrong or morality or ethics

Satya is managing situation in respect to Ahimsa
Ahimsa comes first n everything comes after it
Am I hurting someone or myself in practicing other yama is primary
Ahimsa is Solitary pillar of everything to follow
What I can do now is primordial
Ahimsa balances everything n puts into practice
Did I hurt myself n did I hurt someone?? always ask n how I can resolve
Life is about solutions - as everything may not resolve -
Restructuring Recalibrating Reorganising Recognising Recreating Researching Refurbising -
Soul purpose of our existence is to kindle light in darkness of someone's life someone's path someone's heart
someone's cognition someone's understanding of why n how n what
Karuana n Maitry n Ahimsa relationship next time

Yama is at forefront of practice of yoga - Ashtanaga yoga - It is vrittis that are at forefront of this - we are trying
to discipline mind through that body will get disciplined
Vrittis are like rushing river
Now we are giving path, direction, manner to flow
Yama gives direction to vrittis
We have mnemonic mind like causal energy flow - not visible - flow of energy - creating its own set of Problems
- life made me like this - we were something what we have become today because of lots of event in past and
Whatever we do today is based on what we had experienced
We were something we are something n we become something
We are predictable creatures of habit
We need to break from it and become a new person
Whatever happens outside and what we are inside is conflict
Conflict between who am I who I want to be and outside world does not allow me to become.
Big boulders blocks n stones Come in path of river but it finds its way around to flow
We similarly have to find our way around
Ahimsa is Subtle as well as gross it permeates everything we do
If we want to follow ahimsa - we need to know himsa
It begins at gross level
What we eat, breath, thoughts
Jain take it to another level

We have to live with it in a beautiful manner
Smriti parisudho - factual truth is different then satya as Yama
Satya is not about clarifying with everyone. Satya will lead to progress and not conflict.
Satya is not to prove right or wrong.
Satya is to say or not to say.
Ultimate goal is to go to state of peace.
Asteya - Non stealing

Emotional brain works on likes and dislikes
Rational mind is purposeful works for the cause how what we have to do

Tarka - not reasoning alone here it means defensive mind - I did this but because this happened that's why I did
Justification mind
Vitarka - is not transcending but here it is contradiction constant conflicts in mind.
Sutra comes after niyama but tat does not come there
Human mind is trained since birth
Vitarka Badhne - Vitarka will bind you and not let u progress
We normally do action because of some reason
Phala will come whether you want or not
Vitarka - will come in between practice of niyama
When conflicts come it breaks practices
Pratipaksha - prati paksha
Normally behave as per our nature - Pratipaksha now take the opposite stand move in opposite direction
Pick up any practice and put it in use - Maitri Karuna Mudita Upeksha, Ishwar Pranidhan, Prachardan Pranasya
Vidharanbha, let go, forgive n forget
We are handling people and situations way we can do best in our situation. Let rational mind take over
emotional mind.
Weigh pros and cons - change way we look at things - change our perception
Things or situation do not disturb us or take peace away
Pratipaksha Bhavna is Through wisdom & reasoning - buddhi ruling over Manas to proactively handle situations
with new vision and new rules we have formed
Bhavna - repeatedly constantly working on ourselves till transcending happens
Till breakable glass becomes unbreakable
During event you need to take over not after it
Prepare yourself every day - condition mind - train mind - so that when situation comes you are prepared

Why Pratipaksha Bhavna
You will be trapped - deviate from spiritual growth- infinitely trapped in Samsara
Vitarka - when all these different types of conflicts arise
Mind is going to be in turmoil - himsa is born because of conflicts - pain conflicts stress arise in mind

break us
Vishoka va - nothing should hurt you - rise beyond pain
Why this things happens to us
Lobha - greed - things should be conducive, behave In this manner
Anger - another reason - I can't control situation or other person as we don't know how to Handle myself in
difficult situations
Moha - excessive attachment - parents spouse children friends - excessive attachment will cause grief
Mrudu -mild way Madhya - moderate Adhi - intensely affected - different ways Vitarka bother us - at different
times in our lives - intensity will be different - don't give away Yourself to anyone
Or else Dukha Ajana Ananta Phala
If we get trapped in conflicts - then we say why did this happen to me- Ananta - endless infinity - showing you
future - not because of action I did now - but many lives Before
MP is giving negative results first before Positive Phalasutras
Iti - therefore Pratipaksha Bhavnam - step on two sides
Eagle is big bird but how beautifully it glides in sky and still it can see swoop on its pray at Exact location
Develop new vision
You have your vision perspective - it should reflect yourself
We have to encourage ourselves

Why we want to change something about our life something is missing something is there we are looking for -
way path - where we will be able to access another dimension that we know exists
There is something beyond the ordinary ways of looking at life, approaching life, doing things in life To access
unaccessible dimensions of life. MP is going to make us mentally so strong we will be able to tackle anything in
life. Hold yourself don't lose hope ever. The mistakes we make struggle we go through make what we are.

If you are practicing ahimsa to fully anyone in front of you loses Animosity
Creating building energy within us. Automatically the energy will start vibrating.

Very tricky.
Satya is related to situation, circumstances not as the truth as practice in life without hurting anyone or
ourselves.
Yogi will never say things against nature.
Phalas may come or may be illusive for years together continue your practice does not mean that it will happen
at certain point as we are carrying a baggage of life. It may happen in another life time. But they will definitely
happen.
If nothing happens we will have to work more.

Breath is connecting link between body and mind.
Lack of organisation, disharmony and don't feel good if this link is weaker
If the link is stronger everything is all ok
Pranayama makes this link stronger
Prana is life force that keeps us alive
Foetus is alive but not breathing
Life force takes different way there. Even skin breaths.
Prana defines us distinct from inanimate objects.
Prana is same but is divided and named by its function & roles to fulfil its specific function.
Pranayama is way in which pran is going to be used to create harmony.
If Difficult to hold breath after exhalation - the person is holding back and not letting go - otherwise people
should feel shy of relief after exhalation.
2.52 veil of unknowing, ignorance, though we know we can not practice - with pranayama this veil will reduce
it will not be thick curtain but will be thinner you will be able to see clearly
Liminal space

have to cross over it - or we will never have any vision of other side - we will be stuck in our own veil - our own
idea, bringing up, my culture, my tradition. Other side opens up whole new world new ideas.

Q&A Session
Ishwar - within us untouched by klesha karma vipaka
Yoga is based on samkhya
Kapila Muni is Saishwar Samkhya
Ishwarakrishna does not talk about ishwar ishwara
MP period apparently people scholars believe 250-300BCE
Another buddhist clan say 300ACE
There are legends stories about MPs life
If He Was BCE - Older Samkhya Was There - Ishwar Comes There
So MP takes ishwar concept
Samkhya Evolved & Changed Over Time If He Was In BCE
Samkhya changed
MP does not use exact terms satva rajas tamas
Ishwara comes at Sutra 23
Ishwar Pranidhat Va
Va or also
Over here is not parmeshwar, Purushottam not the highest entity in which u have to merge
In yoga there are multiple purushas infinite consciousnesses they don't merge
Advaita Vedanta of Shankaracharya - then all these consciousness merge
Yoga And Samkhya - they don't merge
Ishwara in yoga is beyond klesha, karma & Vipaka - maturation of karma - there may be person has gone beyond
statge that no karma will manifest as fruits -
Humans are born with Klesha
Aparamrushta - untouched
All of us have potential that we can reach that state where we can do karma as duty without getting bound -
we all have to reach that state of BEING - it is just developing that and manifesting that
Tirthankar - tirtha is to cross over from ordinary way of living from existing to higher state
There are different ways of reaching higher state
Jain- no creator - souls - aadi and anadi - no beginning no end
Tirthankar are keval jnanis - reached kevayla
Anuvrata mahavrata
Mahavir 530BCE Buddha Also Same Time
Samkhya Is Oldest Philosophical system in world Older then veda
If you know samkhya - you are elite scholar
Va - it is upto you, or, if you want
Pramana - how do we know anything - through experience through indriya or through experienced
Pramana - Pratyaksha - get Knowledge from senses But -1. my senses have to work perfectly, 2. my surrounding
should also be perfect, even if my eyes perfect if outside environment is not perfect - dark - I will still not see 3.
Mind should be focussed or attentive to gain knowledge 4. Intellect or Buddhi Should be well developed, sharp
to be able to comprehend translate this into useful interpretation -
Pratyaksha is very useful - everytime you don't have to be experience same thing again and again
Anuman - next logic is used by this is so because it is this way
Anuman is application of all knowledge gained through partyaksha
Rice is cooked or not - eyes and sense of smell will tell
So many things still we don't know and you need expert
Experts are necessary
Finally when things elude or beyond you - you need expert - agam - in form of apta - person who have been
there, done that and give you wisdom & also scriptutres
Pranav - is best way to connect with that entity - vibration - is way to connect with ishwar - every mantra
becomes vibration of that deity or entire aura of that entity that you want to imbibe
Dwaita Vallabh Vedanta - We are just an ansh and can never become that
Pramana & perception & partayahara remind mam to connect these 3

Experience Sharing In Preparation For Chapter 3

*Daminimam Class 67th Class 12th September 2021*

3rd Chapter
Deeper realms of how mind has changed with our practice
First 15 Sutras Very Important - Almost Continuation Of Chapter 2

Sutras have different dimensions you can understand them individually and put together. Put together they
create masterpiece. Sutras can be connected to each other.
Each sutra has its own Distinct aspect.
Desh bandh cittasaya dharana
Desh where Citta has to focus.
Desh space where you have to bind mind on to has to be fixed.

Consolidation of my thoughts. My ideas, My Goals - Things To Change, Things To Focus, What To Do List
Dharna you picked up what Goal u wanted & started integration in citta - teaching of sutras will tie it all together
In dhyan there is fundamental shift in thought of your thinking - rewriting core of your behaviour, talk & we
behave - your personality.
How We Speak What We speak what we don't speak
What we going to do or not to do through vacha and kaya action
This fundamental shift becomes dimensional shift -
Wisdom is more then jnana - new dimension we need to create as nature is difficult change
How will Dimensional Shift occur - not just ilke that
Heterogeneous Moment Of Satva Tamas & Rajas - when purusha & Prakriti get together - purusha gets

created by Manas and buddhi are carried with soul - transmigration to next lives - Chapter 3 Is about - Our
samskaras are to be removed - that bounds us.
Nothing is held on - everything is let gone & done - no random reaction - now it is thoughtful response. New
state has arisen from lots of self efforts and self understanding.
First stage in transformation - is nirodh Parinam - you could divert, handle, arrest your own restless citta.

3.10 Tasya praśāntavāhitā saṁskārāt

Tasya
Praśāntavāhitā
Samskaras - carried with us - Sam is totality, accumulation, gathering of karma samskaras - three types of Karma
In Indian philosophy - sanchit, prarabhd, kriyaman
Sanchit - is like zip files - accumulated karmas put together - cabin bag in my control - sanchit karma are not
going to fructify in this lives
Prarabhd karma - exactly what is going to happen - how I come out of it is my kriyaman karma - agami karma is
mix of prarbhdh and kriyaman - you can predict it Will come - not yet come - but will come - prarbhdh Karma -
is going to happen in this life - free Will and determination - prarbhdh Karma are your deterministic positions
whether you like it or not - now you are given freewill how you will act in this situation take charge or let it
happen - kriyamaan - maan is measure - measure of kriya.
Tasya - from nirodh Parinam - even momentary - it will take you - kshanik experience will lead you to prshant
is state of peace - at least I know where we are going - inner great conviction state - there is that way I have to
go - you are convinced about it - you are going to continue - pure conviction - I have to walk on this path

deal - irrelevant things given relevance
Cittasya - of citta - not used manas or buddhi - we have to allow buddhi to train in mind - manas is going to
senseless things - Buddhi will tell you not at cost of yourselves - Manas and buddhi become best of friends -
Samadhi parinam - not kshanik state - it is more permanent state - new citta will manifest within ourselves -
sahaj - you are already established in that because of training - abhyas and vairagya - Abhyas lead to kshaya -
vairgaya - let go for uday - arising new state - you do everything still in happy contented and peaceful state -
we are going to state where subtle prakriti is going to be fine tuned by Buddhi and manas coming together to
recognise purusha - transformation in saṁskārās - baggage we carry with ourselves
If kshna nirodh Parinam have occurred - when sequence is maintained Prashant vahita occurs and samadhi
Parinam occurs
