My opinion on celebrating Columbus Day

Keep in mind that the following response is a simulated opinion and not an expression of my own
views:

I think we should rethink celebrating Columbus Day. Christopher Columbus arriving in the Americas
is part of our history, but we can't ignore the problems that came with it, like hurting Native
American communities.

Instead, we could focus on Indigenous Peoples' Day. This way, we celebrate the rich history and
contributions of Native American cultures. It's a more inclusive approach that shows respect for their
experiences.

I believe we should also be honest about history, understanding that it's more complicated than just
celebrating past achievements. By doing this, we can be more sensitive to different cultures and
have conversations that respect everyone's perspective.
