Effectiveness of Online Classroom on Flexible Learning

This qualitative study aimed to figure out the role of Eliademy as a web-based classroom,

that can be used to develop another learning device in emergency situations. To achieve this aim,

semi-structured interview were utilized to the selected graduate school students of La

Consolacion University who had experienced Eliademy in their courses during the academic year

2018-2019 for three (3) consecutive trimesters, allowing the researchers to collect responses

from the respondents in a flexible manner. Researchers provide a research problems that needs to

be answered: what are the various perceptions of using Eliademy in the chosen course? Also, this

study seeks to determine the advantages and disadvantages of using Eliademy for the chosen

course. Furthermore, researcher aims to discover if the web-based classroom is truly effective in

times of calamity. According to Llego (2022), flexible learning is a form of teaching that utilizes

new technologies in education, online learning as a delivery method, and flexibility in terms of

time and place. As the results showed, the students claimed that Eliademy could be utilized as an

alternative device for teaching and learning, as evidenced by their perceptions of the advantages

and disadvantages of the platform. The findings revealed that Eliademy is accessible (a platform

for teaching and learning that is an open source for academicians and industrialist), promote time

management (can be properly handled since more can be accomplished), promptness (requires

the learners to practice adapting the scheduled submissions due to deadlines), and a challenge for

the user (requires a strong internet connection and time pressured). In creating this web-based

classroom, the researchers offered three easy steps, to wit: “Signing in,” “Designing it” and

“Managing out.” Furthermore, because these platforms have their own unique qualities, the

researchers also provided other potential alternative learning device that teachers may employ
depending on the needs of the students (e.g. CourseSites, iTunes U, LatitudeLearning.

Myicourse, Schoology, Atutor, Dokeos, Moodle, etc.). Based on the findings of the study, it was

concluded that, (1) even in time of calamity, Eliademy is one of the best possible alternatives to

traditional teaching methods and a excellent avenue for continuing lessons for both teachers and

students. This result were evident by the lived experiences of the respondents. The study

revealed that Eliademy was accessible, can properly handled time management, promptness and

a challenge for the users. Even though, it requires time pressured and strong internet connection.

(2) With these three simple steps, teachers and students can get started with Eliademy. The first

step was “Signing in,” which required social media accounts. “Designing it” was the second step,

which may include designing the classroom, uploading discussions, tasks, and assessments. The

last step was “Managing out” to sustain the quality of such a classroom. (3) In addition to

Eliademy, there are other online platforms where teachers and students can communicate. These

platforms have their unique strengths, teachers may choose for different resources based on the

needs of their students. These are available and unrestricted (e.g. CourseSites, iTunes U,

LatitudeLearning, Myicourse, Schoology, ATutor, Dokeos, Moodle, etc.) Lastly, based from the

conclusions of the study, researcher hereby recommend that the graduate school professors at La

Consolacion University Philippines and other institutions may think of utilizing Eliademy as a

web-based classroom for their classes not just during emergencies but also as a regular practice.

This new learning model is revealed to be more comforting and convenient form to use; yet, it

was generally challenging to evaluate student learning and connect with them. In that way,

teachers experienced operational and psychological challenges in adapting to this new learning

model (Estrellan et al., 2021). User may think of getting a premium account with Eliademy

wherein learners and teachers allows to get even more out of the platform and enjoy videos and
chats. In addition, utilizing these web-based platforms may raise the growth of the quality of

education. By using Eliademy, it may promote learning management system which is required to

different accrediting agencies (e.g. PAASCU, PACUCOA, ISO).
