Reports point to a considerable gender gap that is present across STEM major disciplines
The study of biology and chemistry continues to attract lots of female practitioners who
occupy an almost equal (or more) part of the job market when compared to men. On the
other hand, securing the proper representation - proportionally - in subjects such as
computer science and engineering, is still another challenge and women are only slightly
visible compared to men.
Girls are overshadowed by stereotypes and society demands that discourage them to
apply themselves for the careers in science and math; especially in those which are
leading jobs for men. Besides that, female leaders and mentors' scarcity in STEM, which
is another key reason why some females choose not to venture into STEM
The efforts of officials and management to float the entire boat The programs are
launched with the aim of increasing women as a whole in STEM fields. There are a
number of projects focused on inspiring females and young people to learn about science,
technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and career-wise. However, these
programs that are implemented include mentorship programs, scholarships, and programs
that aim to interest the entire community through STEM subjects.
To sum up, although the way women work in STEM is toxic, especially in academic and
corporate settings, the representation of women in technology, engineering and science
has increased significantly, yet inequalities remain prominent. Furthermore, as part of a
comprehensive approach to eliminating stereotypes, providing support and guidance, and
ensuring inclusion, are essential steps forward. Women who learn and advance in STEM
fields will have positive impacts not only on people but also on the growth of innovations
and economies around the world.
