Varl was once a wolf cursed by Auril to be a monstrous wendigo, given a bipedal form with a paralyzing stinger and an insatiable hunger that can be sensed from a mile away. He haunts the forest near Lonelywood, decorating the trees with the remains of his victims and seeking to kill Saga, devouring any others who cross his path.

Awakened by Auril to serve her will as an executioner
and a leader to all of her awakened animals, Varl is as dangerous as he is evil. Once just a wolf, now an abomination, he haunts the forests around Lonelywood, spreading fear to all who dare venture to his domain.
Wendigos are usually born out of cannibalism when a
hunting party gets trapped in the wilderness and they resort to eating each other for survival. The last one alive is then cursed by Auril herself, given great hunger and incredible thirst that can only be satisfied by flesh and blood. In this case, a similar curse has been laid on a wild wolf, a creature of vile darkness was created from an animal that had no ask in it.
Varl's body was changed by the awakening giving him
larger muscle mass, bipedal stance, and a large scorpion- -like stinger he can use to paralyze his enemies.
Varl, cursed with hunger himself, exudes an aura of
intense hunger which can be felt within one mile of his lair. The sensation grows stronger the closer the creatures come to his lair and upon first seeing him, the creature has a chance of being overwhelmed by hunger and unable unable to act. Varl has decorated the forest around his lair with carcasses of maimed and tortured beasts and humanoids which he hung from the trees. Varl used his claws to carve strange symbols on the trees and into the carcasses, symbols that are unreadable to anyone but him.
Varl's only real goal is to find and kill Saga, but anyone else he will devour to try and fill the endless void inside.
