Desert Island Scenario

You have been chosen to compete in a new reality survival competition! You and the
another member in your group get to bring FIVE things from the list below with you.
As a collective, you must choose which item will help you survive for one month. There
is no crew; the show is shot via drone camera, so no one will be on the island but you
and your teammates.

Choose your items wisely. You will need to make inferences about the island based on
the picture above to make your decisions. You will need to defend your answers in the
space below.

island. Be as specific as possible when describing the way it would aid you in survival.
Item Rationale

Item 1 A battery- Assuming that the boombox comes with batteries, I

operated could try and find a radio station that provides
boombox weather updates. I could also try to listen to some
music in order to keep myself happy.

Item 2 A lavender I would use this to see at night. I could also use this to
candle light campfires for food.

Item 3 Guitar I would take the guitar and try to use my month
learning to play it. I think that eventually I would learn
how to do it because of the loss of distractions from
the outside world.

Item 4 A roll of If I am going to be on this island for a month, I might as

single-ply well try to maintain good hygiene. I would feel very
toilet paper dirty not using this.

Item 5 A wooden I could attempt to cook some food using this spoon.
cooking This would allow me to keep from starving and also try
spoon to recreate some tasty meals.

Which thing do you think would help you the most and why?

The lavender candle would be most helpful because it provides much needed light.
Most of the other items wouldn’t be very necessary to my survival on the island.
