GRAPHICS FUNCTION OPERATION B–64114EN/01

12.1 It is possible to draw the programmed tool path on the screen, which
makes it possible to check the progress of machining, while observing the
GRAPHICS DISPLAY path on the screen.
In addition, it is also possible to enlarge/reduce the screen.
The drawing coordinates (parameter) and graphic parameters must be set
before a tool path can be displayed.

Graphics display procedure

Procedure Set the drawing coordinates with parameter No.6510 before starting
drawing. See “Drawing Coordinate System” for the settings and
corresponding coordinates.

1 Press function key CUSTOM

Explanation
D Setting drawing Parameter No. 6510 is used to set a drawing coordinate system for using
coordinate systems the graphic function. The relationships between setting values and
drawing coordinate systems are indicated below. With two–path control,
a different drawing coordinate system can be selected for each tool post.

WORK LENGTH (W), WORK DIAMETER (D)
Specify work length and work diameter. The table below lists the input
unit and valid data range.

IS–C 0.0001 mm 0,00001 inch

GRAPHIC CENTER (X, Z), SCALE (S)

A screen center coordinate and drawing scale are displayed. A scale
screen center coordinate are automatically calculated so that a figure
set in WORK LENGTH (a) and WORK DIAMETER (b) can be fully
displayed on the screen. So, the user need not set these parameters
usually.
A screen center coordinate is defined in the workpiece coordinate
system. Table 12. 3. 2 indicates the unit and range. The unit of SCALE
is 0.001%.
PROGRAM STOP (N)
Set the sequence number of an end block when part of the program is
to be drawn. A value set in this parameter is automatically cancelled
(cleared to 0) once a drawing is provided.
AUTO ERASE (A)
If 1 is set, the previous drawing is automatically erased when
automatic operation is stated from the reset state. Then, drawing is
started.
LIMIT (L)
If 1 is set, the area of stored stroke limit l is drawn with
double–dot–and–dash lines.
GRAPHIC MODE (M)
This mode can not be used.

NOTE
The parameter values for drawing are preserved even if
power is turned off.

12. GRAPHICS FUNCTION OPERATION B–64114EN/01

D Executing drawing only Since the graphic drawing is done when coordinate value is renewed
during automatic operation, etc., it is necessary to start the program by
automatic operation. To execute drawing without moving the machine,
therefore, enter the machine lock state.

D Deleting the previous Pressing the [REVIEW] soft key on the graphic screen deletes tool paths
drawing on it. Setting the graphic parameter as AUTO ERASE (A) = 1 specifies
that when automatic operation is started at reset, program execution
begins after the previous drawing is erased automatically (AUTO ERASE
= 1).

D Drawing a part of a When necessary to display a part of a program, search the starting block
program to be drawn by the sequence number search, and set the sequence number
of the end block to the PROGRAM STOP N= of the graphic parameter
before starting the program under cycle operation mode.

D Drawing using dashed The tool path is shown with a dashed line ( ) for rapid traverse and
lines and solid lines with a solid line ( ) for cutting feed.

D Displaying coordinates The displayed drawing is indicated with coordinates in a work coordinate
system.

D Displaying the machine The machine zero point is indicated with mark.
zero point

D Switching from a Even if the screen is switched to a non–drawing screen, drawing

drawing screen to continues. When the drawing screen is displayed again, the entire
another screen drawing appears (no parts are missing).

Restrictions
D Feedrate In case the feed rate is considerably high, drawing may not be executed
correctly, decrease the speed by dry–run, etc. to execute drawing.

D Changing the graphic After a graphic parameter is changed, the [REVIEW] soft key must be
parameters during pressed to initialize the graphic screen. Otherwise, the change to the
automatic operation graphic parameter is not reflected correctly.

D Coordinate axis names The coordinate axis names are fixed to X or Z. For the two–path control,
the first and second axes for tool post 1 are named X1 and Z1, respectively,
and the first and second axes for tool post 2 are named X2 and Z2,
respectively.

D Zooming drawings If the WORK and DIAMETER graphic parameters are not set correctly,
the drawing cannot be magnified. To reduce a drawing, specify a negative
value for the SCALE graphic parameter. The machine zero point is
indicated with mark.

B–64114EN/01 OPERATION 12. GRAPHICS FUNCTION

12.2 The dynamic graphic drawing function allows you to display a machining
movement path without having to performing actual machine operation.
DYNAMIC GRAPHIC When performing dynamic graphic drawing, you need not actually
operate the machine. Before starting to draw a path, however, you must
select MEM mode using the mode switch on the machine operator’s panel
and release start lock, interlock, and the like, thereby setting conditions
that could start actual NC operation of the machine.

Graphic parameters

The graphic parameter setting procedure for dynamic graphic drawing is

the same as that for graphic display described in Section 12.1.

Drawing
When you press the function key CUSTOM
GRAPH and then the [GRAPH] soft key,
the graphic screen appears. When you press the [OPRT] soft key on this
screen, the soft keys for dynamic graphic drawing appear.
To draw a machining program path by dynamic graphic drawing, you
must select MEM mode using the mode switch on the machine operator’s
panel and release start lock, interlock, and the like, thereby setting
conditions that could start actual NC operation of the machine.
1 [EXEC]
Pressing the [EXEC] soft key starts drawing. Drawing continues up
to the M02 or M30 block of a machining program.
When drawing is started while the single–block switch on the
machine operator’s panel is on, a single–block stop is made after
one–block drawing.
2 [STOP]
During drawing started by pressing the [EXEC] or [PROCES] soft
key, you can press the [STOP] soft key to make a single–block stop.
To resume drawing, press the [EXEC] or [PROCES] soft key again.
3 [PROCES]
When you start drawing by pressing the [PROCES] soft key, a
single–block stoop is made at the M00 or M01 block of a machining
program upon the execution of that block.
To resume drawing, press the [EXEC] or [PROCES] soft key again.
4 [HEAD]
Pressing the [HEAD] soft key locates the start of a machining
program.
This soft key is operative when drawing stops.
5 [ERASE]
Pressing the [ERASE] soft key clears the screen.
