safety and building understanding of Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander People’s cultures.

Explain educators’ role in promoting children’s understanding and respect of Aboriginal and/or Torres
Strait Islander People’s cultures through collaborative partnerships with direct relationships with First
Nations families and/or communities.

Educator’s role is to support children to learn about the history and cultures of
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Which they can create collaborative relationships
with First Nations families and communities.
- As it stated in EYLF learning outcome 1 “Children have a strong sense of identity” – children
are being respected and feel safe in the learning environment. Educator play an important role
in enhancing children’s understanding of cultural diversity, specifically Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander cultures.
- In the VEYLDF practices and principles “Equity and diversity”- it said that early childhood
educator have responsibility to nurture child’s sense of belonging to the family and community
through learning about their culture and also aware of others which include understanding of
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being
-In the United Nations Rights of the child article 30 – Children have their right to utilise their own
language, culture and religion. For the Aboriginal children and all others, educator need to call
them in respectful and in the way they want to be called
