 A STUDY TO DETERMINE IMPACTS OF GENDER INEQUALITY ON WOMEN IN

GUBA LOCATION,BANISA SUB- COUNTY, MANDERA COUNTY - KENYA
Globally, gender inequality is becoming a matter of concern because this is one of the impediments
towards development and also achieving sustainable development goals. Women in almost every region
face discrimination from their male counter parts and is as a result of social, cultural and economic
factors where men feel more superior and want to dominate in all aspects. This leads to undermining the
basic rights of women making them to live more vulnerable lives in terms of health, literacy and
independence. In Kenya gender inequality starts at a very early age where girl child is denied access to
education, face early marriages and also has no right to own or inherit property making them live at low
standards of life compared to the male. Majority of women are subjected to house chore activities only,
thus remain dependent.
