JUNIOR KIDS DAY MANUAL

I. Overview of the Junior Kids Day

A. Description
The Junior Kids Day is the official entry point for kids ages 4 to 8 years old to
become full-fledged members of the CFC Kids for Christ (KFC) ministry. It is open
to all children of Couples for Christ community members, on-going Christian Life
Program (CLP) participants, and non-CFC members. This is a place where kids
experience God in a fun and loving way.

This is a four-hour activity usually conducted during summer or school break.

Ideally, the maximum number of participants is thirty (30).

In this activity, they make friends as they play games and share experiences in a
Christian environment. It is a venue where they learn about God and make Him
the center of their lives.

B. Goals
The Junior Kids Day aims for the kids:
a. To know that God loves them
b. To develop friendship with Jesus
c. To respond to Jesus’ love in our words and actions

These goals are achieved through the 4 F's principle:

Fun The Junior Kids Day contains exciting and meaningful activities for
children. (Games, dances, songs, etc.)
Friendship The Junior Kids Day gives opportunity to meet new friends and play
with other kids.
Faith The Junior Kids Day gives opportunity to deepen their relationship
with God through prayer.
Freedom The Junior Kids Day gives freedom to express themselves through
drawing, coloring, and playing.

C. Table of Abbreviation

CLP- Christian Life Program. It is an integrated course intended to

lead the program participants into a renewed understanding of
God’s call to them as Christian.

CFC- Couples for Christ. A Catholic community called to renew

families by the power of the Holy Spirit.

2
KFC- Kids for Christ. A ministry of Couples for Christ that evangelizes
kids, ages 4-12 years old, through the family.

YFC- Youth for Christ. A youth arm of Couples for Christ that caters
the needs of the young, ages 13-21 years old that envisions to be
and to bring Christ wherever they are.

SFC- Singles for Christ. A ministry of Couples for Christ for single men
and women ages 21-40 years old that envisions to let everyone
all over the world experience Christ.

Rock Facilitators or Leaders- are Youth for Christ members (or in some cases,
Singles for Christ members) who willingly share their time, talent
and treasure in serving the KFC ministry. They help in
implementing the KFC Programs and activities in their respective
areas together with their KFC Couple Coordinators. Most
importantly, they guide the kids in their journey of knowing
Christ more through the various KFC Activities as they interact
with them personally, give them pep talks, and facilitate their
group activities. The term Rock is inspired from the verse
Matthew 16:18 where Jesus appointed Peter to be the Rock. This
is to inspire the facilitators to serve like Peter.

13
SESSION 1: GOD LOVES ME

ministry for at least 2 years.
• He or she can get the kids’ attention and can give instructions clearly.

Step 2 Let’s do this! Present their work and affirm that they are special. Ask them
what gifts they received from God.
Duration:20 minutes
Step 3 Let’s pray! Close session with the prayer and dance “Chada”.
Duration: 5 minutes

STEP 1
A. Opening Prayer
Sign of the Cross.
“Dear God, thank You for this day. Thank You for Your love for me and my family.
Thank You for being my loving God. Amen.”
Sign of the Cross

B. Introduction

14
God created all of us. He created us special because of His great love for us. Our
activity today will show us how we are special. We will also learn about the gifts we
received from God.

STEP 2
A. Handprint Painting Activity
Preparation of Materials:
• Pour red paint on a paper plate, yellow on another paper plate, and blue on a
third paper plate
• Have the three paper plates of each color ready for each group.

Instructions:
• Place the newspapers on the floor where the activity will happen.
• Distribute the materials in each group and make sure everybody waits for
instructions. Each group must have the three 3 colors.
• Instruct them to press their palms on the plate and place the handprint on
the cardboard. Demonstrate the steps.
• Ask them to use other colors and fill the cardboard.
• Proceed to the wash area to clean their hands.
• Ask the facilitators to show the cardboards during the processing.
• After the processing (Step 3), instruct the kids to write their names on the
cardboard with their handprints.

B. Processing
(Ask the facilitator to hold the cardboard far) Kids, look at your work. Does your
handprints look the same? (Yes!)
(Ask the facilitator to move the cardboard closer to the kids.) You may think that all
handprints are the same.

But if you look closely, you will see that each handprint is different because God
created each one of us special. No handprint is the same. Now, slowly touch and feel
your hands, arms, and feet. Touch your face, eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. God made
it just for you! There is only one “you” in this world. He made everyone special. Can
everyone say, “God made me special.”

This time, I want you to write your names on your handprints. This handprint
reminds us of God’s love.

All of us may be different from each other but we are all equally loved by God. Since
we are all special, He gave us all kinds of gifts. What gifts did we receive from God?
(Let them respond. Possible answers are food, toys, friends, etc.) We received a lot of
gifts from God but a special gift He gave us is our family. Our family loves us and
takes good care of us. They are our special gift because we only have one family.

15
STEP 3
Now, Let us thank God for creating us. Let us thank Him for making us special and most
of all, let us thank Him for the gift of our families. Kids, I want you to follow after me as
we pray.
“Dear Father God, thank You for creating me special. Thank You for giving me my
father, my mother, and my brother and sister. Thank You for our home. Thank you
for loving me and I want You to know that I love You too. Amen”
Dance KFC Song: Chada
Sign of the Cross

Facilitators will post the handprint board to one of the corner of the venue.

16

to the story.
Duration: 5 minutes
Step 2 Let’s do this! Introduce Jesus through story telling.
Duration: 20 minutes
Step 3 Let’s pray! Close session with the prayer and dance “Move”.
Duration: 5 minutes

STEP 1
A. Opening Prayer
Sign of the Cross.
“Dear God, thank You for loving me. Thank You for your generosity. Thank You for
blessing me every day. Please bless me as I learn more about Jesus for I want to be
His friend. Amen.”

B. Introduction
In our first activity a while ago, we learned that God loves us so much that He
created us special. And because we are special He gave us Jesus to be our friend. In
our next activity, we will get to know Jesus and learn how to be His friend.

STEP 2

17
Coloring activity
Instructions:
• Distribute the coloring pages per group; assign 1 life story per group.
• Instruct them to color their pages for 10 minutes.
• During the story telling, ask them to raise their coloring page when their story point
is mentioned.

Who among you here has a friend? Raise your hands. What is the name of your friend?
(Let them respond.) Who among you here has a best friend? What is the name of your
best friend? (Let them respond.) I have a friend who also wants to be your friend. Do you
want to know Him? (Yes!) His name is Jesus. What is His name? (Jesus) Now, let’s get to
know Him.

Apply the correct way of storytelling which you learned from the RFWT. The speaker
must hold a book as props containing his script.

Today, we will hear a story about the life of Jesus. As I point your group you raise the
coloring page you are holding.

• (Kids raise the coloring page with Jesus as a baby.) A long time ago, Jesus’ birth was
announced to Mary by an angel named Gabriel. Jesus was born in a manger. His
parents, Mary and Joseph watched over him while He slept. Shepherds and wise
men came to honor the baby while angels were heard singing.

• (Kids raise the coloring page with Jesus and the jars of water.) When Jesus grew up
to be a good man, He shared stories about God and did many miracles. One of these
miracles was during a wedding, where Jesus and Mary were invited. At the wedding,
they ran out of wine. So Mary asked for Jesus’ help, and He turned jars of water into
wine. It was the best wine the guest ever tasted. This was Jesus’ first miracle.

• (Kids raise the coloring page with Jesus washing the feet of His friends.) As He went
around from place to place, Jesus called twelve (12) men to follow Him. They
became His friends and He loved them so much. Jesus enjoyed eating and talking
with them. He even washed their feet to show His love for them.

• (Kids raise the coloring page with Jesus on the cross.) Jesus had many followers and
this angered some people. These people made plans to hurt Him. They told lies
about him, arrested Him, and made Him carry a heavy cross. Jesus died on the same
cross. He loves the people so much that He chose to sacrifice Himself to save them
from sins.

18
• (Kids raise the coloring page with Jesus going to heaven.) On the third day after His
death, Jesus came back to life as promised. He showed Himself to His friends and
even ate with them. After forty days, they watched Him go to heaven.

STEP 3
From the story, what did we learn about Jesus? We learned that:
• Jesus was born on earth like us.
• Jesus was obedient to His parents.
• Jesus is a friend to everyone.
• Jesus showed His great love for us by dying on the cross.
• Jesus is the Son of God. He listens to our prayers in heaven.

Jesus did all of these things because He loves us and wants us to be His friend. As a
friend He knows us very well. He will always be there for us and He will help us
whenever we ask of it. Who wants to be His friend?

Let us pray and accept His friendship.

Sign of the Cross
“Dear God, thank You for giving Jesus to us. I want to follow Him and be good like
Him. I choose to accept Him in my life and be His friend today. Amen.”
Dance KFC Song: Move
Sign of the Cross

19
SESSION 3: GOD WANTS ME TO BE GOOD
Junior Kids Day

ministry for at least 2 years.
• He or she can get the attention of the kids and can give instructions clearly.
• He or she practices doing good deeds to others daily.

Things to prepare:
1. Session 3 PowerPoint Presentation
2. Like Jesus Activity Materials:
• Popsicle stick

Duration: 5 minutes
Step 2 Let’s do this! Give session points and play the Like Jesus Activity.
Duration: 20 minutes
Step 3 Let’s pray! Close session with the prayer.
Duration: 5 minutes

STEP 1
A. Opening Prayer
Sign of the Cross.
“Dear God, I offer to You everything I think and do today. I pray that what I do will
make You happy. Amen.”
Sign of the Cross

B. Introduction
We accepted Jesus as our friend earlier. As His friend, we can also learn from Him
how to be good to others because Jesus wants us to be like Him.

STEP 2
Jesus wants us to be like Him. We can do this through:
a. Prayer

20
Like Jesus who always prayed to God we also must pray. Prayer brings us closer
to God. We should pray:
• before and after eating
• before sleeping and when waking up
• by participating in the Holy Mass with our family

b. Power words
We use these words to show that we are good and respectful. We should say:
• “Sorry” when we hurt others
• “Thank you” when we are thankful
• “Please” when we ask for a favor
• “I love you” when we show our care for others
• “I forgive you” when somebody says sorry
What are the power words again?

c. Acts of kindness
Kindness means being nice to others. We can show kindness to others by:
• greeting others “Good morning!”, “Hi” and “Hello”
• hugging and kissing our parents and family
• helping our parents with the household chores
• sharing our toys and food to others

What are the three (3) things that makes us like Jesus? (Let them respond.) Practicing
these every day will make God happy.

Like Jesus Activity

Instructions:
• Group facilitators should prepare the cut outs and paste these to the
cardboards.
• Distribute materials to the groups. Each kid must have a cut out of Jesus in
the cardboards and popsicle sticks.
• Instruct the kids to color the cut outs and glue these to the popsicle sticks.

We will play a simple game to recall how to be like Jesus to others. I want you to raise
your sticks if the example I give shows how to be good to others. If not, just keep your
sticks down. For example, if I say, “I will pray before I eat” will you raise or not? (The kids
respond. Correct them if they give the wrong answer.)

If I say, “When my mom arrives, I will not greet her.” Will you raise or not?” (Get their
response and correct the wrong answers.)

After the game, you can keep your sticks to remind you to be good to others. Let us
play!

21
Examples:
1. I will say “sorry” if I disobeyed my parents.
2. I will attend the Holy Mass with my family.
3. I will not pray before sleeping.
4. I will say “thank you” when someone gives me a treat or gift.
5. I will pray before eating.
6. I will tease my classmates.
7. I will say “please” when I need someone to help me.
8. I will throw my trash anywhere I like.
9. I will hug and kiss my parents.
10. I will share my toys with my brother and sisters.
11. I will make fun of my classmates.
12. I will pray the Holy Rosary with my family.
13. I will always hug my parents and say “I love you” to them.
14. I will cry to get what I want.
15. I will help my mom set the table for dinner.

STEP 3
Being good to others is the best way to show that we love Jesus. Let us make Jesus
happy as we practice being good to others every day. Let us pray.
Sign of the Cross
"Dear God, thank You for being good to me. Thank You for showing me how to be
good. I want to be good like You. I ask You to help me be good to my family and to
everybody. Amen.”
Sign of the Cross

KFC 101: Overview of CFC Kids for Christ

CFC Kids for Christ is a Family Ministry of Couples for Christ that aims to provide a Christian
environment for kids (4 to 12 yrs. Old). It is where Christian values taught by the parents are
shared practiced, experienced, and reinforced within a peer group environment.

Our ministry’s anchor verse is Mark 10:14 “Let the children come to me; do not prevent
them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

Our ministry’s vision is “Sharing Christ’s Joy to the Family and the World”. As a means to
realize this vision, we have identified the following as our ministry’s primary mission:

1. Evangelizing Kids – To make Jesus Christ the most exciting person in the lives of the
kids.

24
2. Enriching Families – To provide opportunities for families to be closer to God and to
each other.

II. Reminders to Parents

As parents our role is vital in nourishing the Christian life and journey of our kids after
the activity.
A. Your child’s attitude will not change overnight.
If they still show less than ideal attitude, refrain from embarrassing them by referring to
this experience (e.g. “You’re already a KFC, but you did not change at all?”); instead,
remind them of what they are supposed to do and encourage them to do better next
time. If they did something good and right, praise and affirm them. Relate their
everyday experiences to what was learned today.

B. Continue what was started in the activity

It is your responsibility as parents to bring Christ to your child. (Reference Catechism of
the Catholic Church 2223 and 2224)
• KFC can only support you in this; it cannot and will not take your place. You are
responsible for developing your child’s relationship with Christ.
• You are an example of Jesus to your child. They will know Jesus by the way you show
your love for them.
• Your family is the best place for their growth as a Christian and being part of God’s
greater family, the Catholic Church.

C. Some practical tips in nurturing your child’s relationship with Jesus:

Part 1. Helping Children Experience Faith

29
1. Give a blessing to your child every day before bedtime and leaving home
2. Bring them to the Holy Mass regularly
3. Preserve family time, family play time and opportunities for one-on-one
nurturing between parent and child.

Part 2. Helping Children Learn Faith

1. Talk about God, Jesus, the church and your faith.

2. Explain signs and symbols of faith (e.g., the church, its furnishings, statues, pictures,
etc.)
3. Read/watch bible stories adapted for children and other children's stories with faith
themes, bible heroes, saints, and examples of Christian values

Part 3. Helping Children Express Faith

1. Teach your child the Sign of the Cross; use simple prayers at meals, bedtime and
family occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, first and last-time events, life-changes
and family problems)
a. Pray daily with your child (keep your prayers in level with their age)
2. Use religious symbols and objects (candles, pictures, statues, etc.) in family prayer
and celebrations.
3. Celebrate religious seasons and events (Advent/Christmas, Lent/Easter, feast days,
holy days).

Part 4. Helping Children Act with Faith

1. Teach children to share, to be fair, and to be honest with friends and playmates by
modeling appreciation and respect to others especially the less fortunate.
2. Teach children to appreciate and respect nature as part of God's creation.
3. Limit children's exposure to conflicting values and lifestyles depicted on TV, social
media, and advertising.

D. List of Prayers

Prayer before entering a place

In Jesus (+) name, I cover myself and this place with the blood of Jesus. I bind up
every demon in here, and I ask for God’s holy and powerful angels to protect me.

Prayer for Protection

Lord, almighty, merciful, and omnipotent god, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, drive out
from us all influence of evil spirits. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we plead you
to break any chain that the Devil has on us. Pour upon us the most Precious Blood of
your Son. May His Immaculate and redeeming blood break all bonds of our body and
mind.
5
We ask you through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Archangel St
Michael, intercede and come to our help. In the name of Jesus I command all the
demons that could have any influence over us to leave us forever. By His scourging,
His crown of thorns, His Cross, by His blood and resurrection, I command all evil
spirits to leave us. By the true God, by the Holy God, by God who can do all, in the
name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord, leave us. Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the
wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do
Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host- by the Divine Power of God – cast into hell,
Satan and all the evil spirits, who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of
souls. Amen.

Prayer to the Holy Angels

Holy Angels, God sends you to protect and guide us. We invite you, in the name of
God, One in Three Persons: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, come to our help. We
invite you to help us because we have received as inheritance the blood of our Lord
and King Jesus Christ and the heart of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Queen of the
Angels. May you inspire us to seek God’s Presence and evade the steps of evil. Carry
our prayers in the presence of the Most High, and guard us from words and actions
that glorify our common enemy, Satan and his devils. Amen.

Hail Holy Queen

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To
you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to you do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate,
your eyes of mercy towards us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed
fruit of your womb Jesus, O merciful, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Amen.

Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who
fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession, was left
unaided. Inspired with this confidence, we fly to you, O virgin of virgins, my Mother;
to you do we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O mother of the
World Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer us.

6
August Queen Prayer
O august Queen and our Lady of Angels, who received from God and mission of
crushing the head of Satan, we humbly beg you to send us heavenly legions, with
Saint Michael the Archangel as head so that under your orders they may chase the
demons, combat them everywhere, repress their boldness, and drive them back into
the abyss. “Who is like our God?” O good and tender Mother, send your holy angels
to defend us, and to drive away from us the cruel enemy. Holy angels and archangels
defend us and guard us. Amen.

We fly to your patronage, O holy Mother of God; despise not our petitions in our
necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Cleansing Prayers
Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, by the power of
the Holy Spirit, we pray that the cleansing power of the precious blood of Your Son
come upon us right now. Purify us and wash us clean with the blood of Jesus from
the top of our heads down to the very soles of our feet. Let this blood penetrate
the very marrow of our bones to cleanse us from any entanglement from whatever
spirit we have come in contact with during the course of our Kids Day.

Anoint us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and refresh our body, soul, and spirit, and
may the sign of your Holy Cross drive away all evil spirits from us. In the name of
the Father (+) and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayers against Retaliation from the Power of Evil

We cover ourselves with the Blood of Jesus Christ through the sign of His life-giving
cross (+) we soak our family, our relations, our homes, our offices, our food, our
financial resources, our friends and well-wishers with the powerful Blood of our
Lord Jesus Christ.

We cover the whole air, the whole land, and the whole sea with the Blood of our
Lord Jesus Christ. Satan it is written in Revelation 12 “And they overcame him by
the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony”, we use the Blood of
our Lord Jesus Christ to cover us now. In (+) Jesus’ Name, we break every power of
darkness that has entangled us. We destroy all the web of Satan against us. We
loose ourselves from all the powers of darkness against us.

7
In (+) Jesus’ Name, we destroy and nullify al the curses, covenants, and the
initiation from Satan and his agents against us. We destroy any spell, incantations,
curses, covenants, initiations, and manipulation from any negative spirits.

In the powerful name of Jesus (+) Christ, Father we come against all the demons
that Satan has assigned to attack us spiritually or physically. It is written in the Book
of Isaiah: “No weapon that is formed against me shall prosper; and every tongue
that shall rise against me in judgment shall I condemn”.

In the name of Jesus (+) Christ, we come against all powers of darkness in the dram.
We bind and cast out the demons that attack us through our dreams. Signed,
sealed, and protected by God and hidden in Christ we know that nothing can
separate us from God’s love, joy and peace. Our Father… In the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Thanksgiving Prayers
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for awakening my sleeping spirit and bringing me into Your
light. Thank you, Lord, for transforming me by the renewing of my mind. Thank You,
Lord, for pouring out Your Spirit on me, and revealing Your Word to me. Thank You,
Lord, for giving Your angels charge over me in all my ways. Thank You for my faith
in You and that from my innermost being shall flow rivers of the Father and
steadfastness of all Your ways. Fill me to overflowing with Your life and love, my
Lord and king, Jesus Christ.

Psalm 91, NABRE (Security under God’s Protection)

You who dwell in the shelter of the most High, who abide in the shade of the
Almighty, say to the LORD, “My refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust. He will
rescue you from the fowler’s snare, from the destroying plague, He will shelter you
with His pinions, and under His wings you may take refuge; His faithfulness is a
protecting shield.

You shall not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the
pestilence that roams in darkness, nor the plague that ravages at noon. Though a
thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, near you it shall not
come. You need simply watch; the punishment of the wicked you will see. Because
you have the LORD for your refuge and have made the most High your stronghold,
no evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent.

8
For He commands His angels with regard to you, to guard you wherever you go.
With their hands they shall support you, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
You can tread upon the asp and the viper; trample the lion and the dragon. Because
He clings to me I will deliver him; because he knows my name I will set him on high.
He will call upon me and I will answer; I will be with him in distress; I will deliver
him and give him honor. With length of days I will satisfy him, and fill him with my
saving power.

Before sleep

In Jesus (+) name, I cover myself and all my property with the blood of Jesus. I take
authority over all demons of the night, bad dreams, nightmares, and lascivious
dreams, and anyone or anything trying to get into my dreams, and I command them
to stay away I ask for God’s holy and powerful angels to protect me, my property,
and all my loved ones as I sleep, through the night and the day. I ask for a fiery wall
of protection around me from the Lord.

Team Leader’s Script

What did we learn today, kids? First, we learned that God created us special because He loves
us. Second, we learned about Jesus and became friends with Him. And third, we learned that
being good to others will make God happy.

Before we end our activity today, Jesus wants us to pray as a family. Your parents are here to
pray for you today and you will also pray for them. (Introduce the Chapter Couple Coordinator
to lead the pray over.)

Couple Coordinator’s Script

(Note: Instruct the Rock facilitators and CFC members to pray over the kids whose parents are
absent. Music ministry will play slow song. Flash prayer on screen for parents to follow.)

We will now have the pray over session. Kids, please sit down with your palms open on your
laps. Parents, please stand behind your kids and lay your hands on them as we pray.

In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, we praise You and thank You for giving me my child, (name of child) , as
Your special gift to our family. I pray that You grant us the grace to be the best parent he
or she needs us to be. Please forgive us for the times we’ve hurt our child in any way.
Please teach us how to raise our child to be good like Jesus. We will always love our
child, no matter what happens. May You bless our child and allow (name of child) to
always find happiness in You. Amen.

Parents please take your seats. Kids lay your hands over them. The Team Leader will lead the
prayer.

Team Leader’s Script
Kids, let us pray over our parents. Lay your hands over them and repeat after me. (Flash prayer
on screen for kids to follow)

In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, thank You for giving me my parents and family. Thank You for their love and
care for me. Thank You for the home You gave us.

I’m sorry for the times that I disobeyed them, hurt them and made them feel sad or
angry.

Please bless them and their work. Please heal them if they are sick and keep them safe
always.

Please bless our family that we may be more loving and understanding to each other.
In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

KIDS PRAISE
It is advisable that the Team Leader will lead the Kids Praise.

Now that we have prayed over each other, let’s take this time to thank God for this wonderful
day that we are together with our families. As we sing and dance in prayer, In the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
(Make your personal prayer and use “Chada” and “Move” taught earlier.)

AWARDING OF CERTIFICATES
Now that everyone has been prayed over, let us formally welcome our new Kids for Christ
Members! As I call your name, come in front and receive your certificates, KFC ID and promise
card. Parents, please accompany your child in front.
