English –Grade 4 –Grammar Sheet

Both refers to two things or people together. Both is always

considered plural in a sentence.

Examples:
Both these boys are brothers.
Hold the book with both hands.
Both countries should make a peace agreement .
We both prefer classical music .

We can use too to mean ‘also’. It is more common than also in informal situations. We
normally use it at the end of the clause:

Examples:
1- Have you decided?

I think I’ll have the soup.


I’ll have that too.

2-I love the red color .

Me too .

3-You too could buy from the internet .

But is used to connect ideas that in contrast and in negative sentences .

Examples:
1- I love fruit but I do not love vegetables .
2- I am very hungry but the fridge is empty .
3- Hana is very clever but she doesn’t study her lesson .
