The Text
Mr Jefferson lives with his wife in a little house in the middle of their big farm. In front
of the house, there is a big garden. There are vegetables and fruit trees. Behind the
house, there are many animals : cows, goats, hens, rabbits. There is also a nice dog. Its
name is Neddy. Mr Jefferson usually gets up early in the morning and works all day. He
waters the plants, feeds the animals and collects the eggs. Sunday is a special day for Mr
Jefferson: it’s the market day. On that day, he gets up at 5 o’ clock and goes to the
market to sell eggs, fruit and vegetables and he doesn’t return home until very late in the
afternoon. Now, he is milking the cows and his wife is helping him. Their friend Gordon is staying
with them today. Mr Jefferson doesn’t have children. That’s why he sometimes likes to invite some
of his friends. He usually feels very proud to show themhis farm, his house and his animals.
