Proportion

If two ratios are equal, we say that they are in proportion and use the symbol “::” or “=” to equate
the two ratios.

4. There are 480 coins in half rupees, quarter rupees and 10 paisa coins and their values are
proportional to 5 : 3 : 1. The numbers of coins in each case are?

5. An alloy contains copper, zinc, and nickel, where the content of zinc is 36% less than that of
nickel and, proportion of copper and zinc is in the ratio 5:4. If the weight of zinc in the alloy is 32
grams then, find the difference in weights of nickel and copper.
