− Stainless steel : Control torque joint class B: < 75 % of Ma min. according DAF standard TKB
00804-203, Table 8.
(Table 7 of this KEP standard gives the calculated 75 % values.)

In case of quality disapproval, department QA [Quality Assurance] must assess whether an RCA should be
written. For the RCA procedure, see DAF quality procedure QO10.

2.1.3 Inspection
If rotation of bolt, screw or nut occurs at 75 % < Ma min. < 85 % an inspection must be performed by the
department QA [Quality Assurance]. The results of the inspection shall be reported to the department PE
[Productions Engineering] after which PE will take the appropriate action.

If quality is disapproved after all, the department QA must assess whether an RCA should be written. For the
RCA procedure, see DAF quality procedure QO10.

2.2 Control torque’s for bolts and screws with locking compound, joint class B
The locking compound starts to harden immediately after tightening. Therefore, it is not permitted
that the adhesive connection is broken during inspection. The inspection must be carried out within
2 minutes after assembly.
With a bolt-nut connection, it must be ensured that the rear part does not rotate.

Because rotation of the bolt in the threaded hole or nut with respect to bolt or stud is not permitted, only the
inspection method as used for class A joints (section 2.3) is usable.

2.2.1 Approve
No rotation of bolt, screw or nut at a control torque of 75 % of Ma min. according DAF standard
TKB 00804-203 Table 2A, column with footnote 4.
(Table 1 of this KEP standard gives the calculated 75 % values.)
Or, if the tightening torques deviates from DAF standard TKB 00804-203, no rotation at 75 % of the minimum
tightening torque according to drawing.

2.2.2 Disapprove
Rotation of bolt, screw or nut at a control torque of < 75 % of Ma min. according
DAF standard TKB 00804-203 Table 2A, column with footnote 4.
(Table 1 of this KEP standard gives the calculated 75 % values.)
Or, if the tightening torques deviates from DAF standard TKB 00804-203, rotation at < 75 % of the minimum
tightening torque according to drawing.
If rotation has occurred, the bolt must be replaced.

In case of quality disapproval, department QA must assess whether an RCA should be written. For the RCA
procedure, see DAF quality procedure QO10.

2.3 Control torque's for bolts, screws and nuts joint class A, property class 10.9

2.3.1 Approve
No rotation of bolt, screw or nut at a control torque of 75 % of Ma min. according DAF standard
TKB 00804-203 Table 2A, column with footnote 4.
(Table 1 of this KEP standard gives the calculated 75 % values.)

2.3.2 Disapprove
Rotation of bolt, screw or nut at a control torque of < 75 % of Ma min. according
DAF standard TKB 00804-203 Table 2A, column with footnote 4.
(Table 1 of this KEP standard gives the calculated 75 % values.)

tightening torque according to the drawing.

4 INSPECTION METHOD

The control torque shall be applied to the bolt, nut or screw etc. on which the tightening torque has been
applied.

4.1 Measuring control torque of bolts, screws and nuts joint class A, B and other products

4.1.1 Measuring control torque of bolts, screws and nuts joint class B
Installation of the control torque that correspond with the screw thread diameter and property class as given
in the column: “85 % of Ma min” of Table 1.

Note:
If the nut / bolt rotate before the 85 % value is achieved than the installation of the control torque shall be
stopped and the value shall be read when using a dial torque wrench or digital torque wrench.
When applying a click torque wrench this shall be replaced by a dial torque wrench or digital torque wrench
and the value shall be read (to determine if the control torque complies with the 75 % value).

4.1.2 Measuring control torque of bolts, screws and nuts joint class A, property class 10.9
Installation of the control torque that correspond with the screw thread diameter and property class as given
in the column: “75 % of Ma min” of Table 1.
