Title: Change of 100M-HUB in EXCELART-Series Systems
1. Outline
The 100M-HUB in the control cabinet of EXCELART-series systems is to be changed due
to part discontinuation. This FSM provides an outline of this change.

This change is applicable to systems shipped in April 2014 and later

The 100M-HUB in EXCELART-series systems is changed as follows due to part
discontinuation.
100M-HUB: BSM43-1379 (FXC ES108M2) → BSM43-1783 (FXC ES1008MTP)
Conventional New

BSM43-1379 (FXC ES108M2) BSM43-1783 (FXC ES1008MTP)

The BSM43-1379 and BSM43-1783 are fully compatible with each other.

[New 100M-HUB (FXC ES1008MTP) setup and installation procedure]
The procedure for installing the new 100M-HUB (FXC ES1008MTP) in the control cabinet of
an EXCELART-series system is described below.
It is necessary to change the port setting to "Auto Negotiation" mode or "100M HALF" mode
depending on the system and to remove the mounting bracket for the FXC ES108M2 if it is
present.

(1) If the mounting bracket for the FXC ES108M2 is present at the 100M-HUB installation
location, remove it. The FXC ES1008MPT can be installed using the magnets on the bottom.

(2) Check the SPD/DPX LED on the FXC ES1008MTP. If the ports are not set as shown in the
tables below, set them correctly as described in “Setting change procedure”.

Setting change procedure


■ Communication speed and mode setting procedure
The communication speed and mode of each port of the FXC ES1008MPT can be set
manually.
(a) Set the mode selection switch to CONFIG.
The LINK/ACT LED for the selected port lights.
(b) Select the desired port by pressing the port selection button (PORT) as many times as
required. The selected port can be identified because its LINK/ACT LED is lit.

(c) Press the setting button (STATUS) and set the communication speed and mode for the
selected port.
The communication speed and mode are indicated by the SPD/DPX LED.

(d) Press the port selection button (PORT) to save the setting.
Repeat steps (b) and (c) for the remaining ports.
(e) After port setting is completed, set the mode selection switch to OPERATION.

(a) Power connector
The supplied power cable is connected to this connector.
(b) Power cable securing holder
This holder holds the power cable to prevent unintended disconnection.
(c) 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T ports
The UTP cables for 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T are connected to these ports.
The communication speed is detected automatically.
(d) POWER (PWR) LED
This LED indicates the power ON/OFF status.
(e) Port status LEDs (SPD/DPX, LINK/ACT)
These LEDs indicate the status of the ports. In normal operating mode (OPERATION), these
LEDs indicate the following statuses.
Refer to "Communication speed and mode setting procedure" for the LED indications in
configuration mode.

- Not lit The hub is operating in auto-negotiation mode.
Green Lit The hub is operating in 1000M Full mode.
Lit The hub is operating in 100M Full mode.
SPD/DPX Orange
Blinking The hub is operating in 100M Half mode.
Lit The hub is operating in 10M Full mode.
Red
Blinking The hub is operating in 10M Half mode.
Lit Link is being established.
LINK/ACT Green
Blinking Communicating
(f) Rubber feet
When the hub is installed on a shelf, these rubber feet absorb vibration.
(g) Magnets
These magnets allow this hub to be installed on a steel shelf or on the side of a steel desk.
(h) Mode selection switch (CONFIG/OPERATION)
This switch is used to select normal operating mode (OPERATION) or configuration mode
(CONFIG).
(i) Setting button (STATUS)
In CONFIG mode, this button is used to set the communication speed and mode of the port
selected by the port selection button (PORT). Refer to "Communication speed and mode
setting procedure" for the setting procedure.
When this button and the port selection button (PORT) are pressed simultaneously and held
down for 5 seconds in OPERATION mode, the communication speed and mode are reset to
the factory defaults.

(j) Port selection button (PORT)
In CONFIG mode, this button is used to select the port for which the communication speed
and mode are to be set.
When this button and the setting button (STATUS) are pressed simultaneously and held
down for 5 seconds in OPERATION mode, the communication speed and mode are reset to
the factory defaults.
