CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1. Background
Oil and gas are still the major source of energy. People’s needs the petroleum and it will be increase
everyday. In Indonesian need’s petroleum is more increases significant, but the value of the oil and
gas is not balanced with the value of exploration. Besides of that, petroleum company’s are being
developed and produced with error minimize for any oil field drilling. In this situation, several
methods are needs to strive to get maximal result and with the efektive budget so that there is no loss.
Either means the exploration thecnique with seismic reflection method, seismic reflection methods
have been widely used in oil and gas industry to image condition of geology subsurface, indicate
potentioal reservoirs of oil and gas and provide analysis of hydrocarbon types within the reservoir and
properties of the reservoir rocks themselves. Seismic reflection developed to seismic inversion and
multiatribute. Both of this thecnique can use to result a geologic modelling.
Horda Platform is one of prospect field to produce hydrocarbons in Norwegian sea. Exploration
activities developed in year 1970 until its discovery at 1980 end of year. Field development begins at
discovery mayor field as Troll, Gjoa, Oseberg, Gullfaks, Snorre and Statfjord and showing great
accumulation of oil and gas at the northen part.
Horda Platform is located at trhough Norwegian sea, northen part, in the western bordering with
viking graben and in the west bordering with oygraden fault. Techtonic setting are developed on
Horda Platform along early triassc until late crateceous and there is many complex structures and
produced hydrocarbon trap. Structures are developed made Horda platform as interest location in
petroleum offshore and can produce an interesting geological modell
