ABOUT GALWAY

University of Galway founded in 1845.

1.The University has had four different names:

 In 1849, it was called Queen's College Galway

 In 1908, it was changed to University College Galway, or UCG for short

 In 1997, it was changed again to National University of Ireland Galway, or NUI Galway for
short

 In 2022, it was renamed to University of Galway

2. LOCATION: University of Galway is located in the West of Ireland, in Galway - the ‘City of
the Tribes’. Uniquely located in a beautiful historic campus in the west coast of Ireland, on the
edge of the Wild Atlantic Way coastline and only 2 hours’ drive from Dublin.
