The "8260 208 - 2" Jaffna Hindu College & Ananda College ‘Colombo (JHC/AC) Sports Festival - 2024, will be held in Jaffna on 23° & 24” March 2024, where teams from Colombo will travel to Jaffna to participate in events. The JHC - AC Sports Festival was initially organized by the Old Boy's Associations of both Colleges to commemorate the distinguished alumni of Jaffna Hindu College, Mr. V. T.. Sivagurunathan, Mr. M. K. N. Panikkar and Mr. V. Thanabalasingham, who were also revered educators of Ananda College in the 20" century. Later, the Festival extended its scope in honouring late Mr. Jayantha Wickramasinghe and Mr. Vaithilingam Ganeshalingam, erudite professionals produced by Ananda College and Jaffna Hindu College, respectively. The students of these two premier Colleges will represent their Alma Mater in "Sivagurunathan Memorial Challenge Trophy” - a Cricket encounter, “Panikkar-Thanabalasingham Memorial Shield” - an English debate and “Jayantha Wickramasinghe Memorial Trophy” - a Basketball match and “V. Ganeshalingam Memorial Shield” ~ Chess encounter. To enhance the excitement and glamour of this sports festival, a cricketing encounter between the Old Boys of the two schools was introduced in 2019 for “Arjuna Ranatunga Challenge Trophy” and this year many former national cricketers including the World Cup Winning Captain Mr. Arjuna Ranatunga are expected to participate In addition to above sports activities, Carrom and Table Tennis encounters will also take place between the two schools.
