Some students prefer to take a year off between school and university, to work or to

travel.
Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?

These days, after a school year, some students tend to stop a year between school
and university, to have time for working or travelling. Despite some obvious
advantages of this trend, I would argue that these are outweighed by disadvantages.

On the one hand, there are some benefits when stopping a year between school and
university, to have time for working or travelling. First of all, students may take time
for some things after a hard school year. For instance, students may experience a lot
of things around them such as going to the countryside or gaining life skills by
working in the coffee workshop. Moreover, it is also a method that helps students
relieve tiredness, boring in the school year. Secondly, students may have better
preparation in their life. The reason is that students may come into contact with a lot
of things in life and understand more about life, so they can avoid being bewildered
with new things.

On the other hand, I believe that the drawbacks are more significant than such
advantages. One reason for this view is that students will be gapped in knowledge
when they come back to school after taking a year off. For instance, it is not a good
student, but also a normal student, when they are having a lot of knowledge at
school, but after a year off, they can also decrease a lot of their level of
understanding. Another reason is that students can be bored about coming back to
school because they are familiar with freedom in their life and they do not want to
feel constrained.

In conclusion, it seems to me that the disadvantages of taking a school year off to

work or travel are more significant than the advantages.
