Afarinick/Kumad is an integrated agricultural supply chain company providing a wide range of

agricultural services from Seedling Production, Farm Management, and Farm Input Supply. We
have a vision to be a leading agro-industrial actor, providing innovative solutions that generate
value all along our commodity value chains.
Afarinick / Kumad currently implements the National Cocoa Rehabilitation Program which is
aimed at rehabilitating farms that have been affected by the Cocoa Swollen Shoot Virus Disease
(CSSVD) and rendered unproductive. The rehabilitation process involves the cutting down of the
diseased trees, treating the farms, and replanting with disease-tolerant, early-bearing, high-yielding
cocoa varieties.
The cocoa rehabilitation program presents huge job opportunities for the youth of Ghana to
participate in on-farm activities and get paid. Young people are a key part of the solution to
revitalizing Ghana’s cocoa sector. Afarinick / Kumad therefore wishes to extend invitations to
churches, organized groups, and institutions within the operational areas to register with our
Project Officers to participate in the cocoa rehabilitation exercise and get paid.
Activities to be undertaken include:
a) Farm treatment
- Slashing of farms
- Cutting down of cocoa and undesirable trees
- Arboricide application
- Hacking and collection of debris
b) Farm establishment
- Slashing before lining and pegging
- Cutting and transportation of pegs
- Lining and pegging
- Drilling of planting holes
- Planting of cocoa and plantain seedlings
c) Farm maintenance
- Close-to-ground weeding of established cocoa farms
- Application of fertilizers (ammonia)
- Application of insecticides
Each activity comes with a rate for payment after completion of work. Payment is usually done
