7 ed GHRIST CONS CICUSSIESS AUGUST WEEK 2 DIRECTIVES FOR THE TEACHERS This outline has been created to guide your Bible Study classes for the month of August. In preparing for the Bible Study Class, it’s vital that you (Cell Leaders and Bible Study Class Teachers) study this outline prior to the cell meeting date to acquaint yourself with the topic and content. During the meeting, all the Scriptures in the outline are to be read, It’s important that the attendees look into their Bibles while the Scriptures are read for proper assimilation, To effectively achieve this, kindly inform your members before the meeting date to all come along with their Bibles. In addition, don't rush through the subject as you teach; remember that our intention is to have every member of the class understand the subject matter and what the Bible teaches onit. Please note that all Scripture references are in the King James Version (KJV), unless otherwise stated. Our study for this month is titled: Christ Consciousness INTRODUCTION In Christ, we've been called to a life beyond the ordinary, but sadly this is not the daily experience of many Christians. One of the reasons they don't live up to this supernatural and extraordinary life in Christ is because they are not Christ Conscious. Itis one thing to know about the life in Christ and all that has been made available to you, but being conscious of it takes it to a whole new level; the consciousness of what you have inside activates the power. This is why it is important that every Christian is Christ conscious. To live the victorious Christian life, you must be Christ conscious. This subject is so important because it helps us define and understand authentic Christianity. For most people in the world, Christianity is a nice religion started by the man named Jesus; but Christianity is not a religion, itis: @ The demonstration and display of the virtues and excellences and perfections of Christ in the earth. The Partaking of the divine nature. Divinity at work in humanity, The practice of the heavenly on earth. ‘The human life supplanted by the Divine life. Arelationship with the living Christ in today’s world. ‘The pulsating life of Christ in a man. In our study for this month, we will discuss in detail what it means to be Christ Conscious and also examine the extraordinary life of Jesus, our perfect example and how we ought to lead our lives following His example of Christ consciousness. Now let's look deeper into the two words that comprise the topic of our discussion, ‘Christ’ and ‘Consciousness.’ AN EXPOSITION OF ‘CHRIST’ WHO IS CHRIST? + Christis the son of God. The son of God is Jesus and His Church, Ephesians 5:30 says, “For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.” Referring to the Lord Jesus Christ, Colossians 1:8 says, “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” So Jesus Christ is the head and the Church is His body; the head and the body are called Christ. + Christ is the Messiah (The Anointed One): The word ‘Christ’ is actually the Greek version of what those in the Old Testament called the Messiah. It meant the anointed one. WHAT IS CHRIST? + Christ is the Anointing that makes Him who He is: Christ is the anointing that made Jesus the Christ. This was what Paul referred to in Philippians 4:13, where he said “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.” He was not saying He could do all thing through Jesus that strengthens him; he was referring to the anointing that He gave tous. + Christis a Place. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new;” notice the expression, “in Christ,” showing you that having become born again, Christ is now your dwelling place; your new environment. This helps us understand what Jesus meant when He said, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:3). The place He alluded to is the place called Christ. That's the environment that we've been brought into. AN EXPOSITION OF ‘CONSCIOUSNESS’ Consciousness can be defined as a sense of identity including the attitudes, beliefs and sensitivities held by, or considered characteristic of an individual or group. Consciousness refers to an awareness. To give you a better understanding of what awareness means, picture this illustration: Imagine walking into a dark room that you're not familiar with; one may not be able to tell what's in the room, or at best could try to, by touching to feel what's there, but when the lights in the room are turned on, everything in the room becomes visible to you. Now you're aware or conscious of where you are and what's in there. Consciousness is that knowledge that the soul of man has taken possession of; what has become clear to you; what you're now at home with. You are conscious of something when ithhas become your possession in knowledge. Consciousness is important; because it pulls to you what you're conscious of. In the New Testament portion of the Bible, there are three Greek words that are translated as knowledge in English, these we refer to as the three kinds of knowledge: Ginosko, Eido and Epignosis. Eido is the kind of knowledge that refers to consciousness or awareness. This is the knowledge the Apostle Paul alluded to in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. This is not just revelation knowledge, but one that you have come to know in an awareness, and you are at home with it. WHAT IS CHRIST CONSCIOUSNESS? Christ consciousness is the spiritual awareness of your place, nature, rights and privileges in Christ. It is an understanding of who you are, what life you now have, the environment of the spirit to which you have been born, It’s the awareness of your soul as it settles on Christ and His redeeming love, His redeeming work and the result of His redemptive work —you, the new creation. Christ consciousness is that knowledge of the spirit that lifts you from the ordinary realm of life into the realm of God's supernatural walk. It changes your life, your state, and grants you your estate. In our next class we'll continue our discussion on Christ Consciousness, examining the extraordinary life of Jesus Christ while He walked the earth, and some of the qualities that are associated with Christ consciousness, and how you can grow in your consciousness of Christ.
