Engine Failure During Takeoff Run Engine Fire During Start On Ground
• Throttle IDLE • Ignition Switch START (Continue cranking)
• Brakes APPLY IF ENGINE STARTS
• ATC ADVISE • Power 1700 RPM for two minutes
• Flaps RETRACT • Engine SHUTDOWN
• Mixture IDLE CUT‐OFF IF ENGINE FAILS TO START
• Ignition Switch OFF • Throttle FULL OPEN
• Master Switch OFF • Mixture IDLE CUT‐OFF
• Ignition Switch START (continue cranking for two minutes)
Engine Failure Immediately After Takeoff • Engine SECURE
• Airspeed 70 KIAS (FLAPS UP) Master Switch OFF
65 KIAS (FLAPS DOWN)
Land Straight Ahead or within 30° of RWY Centerline Ignition Switch OFF
• Mixture IDLE CUT‐OFF Fuel Selector OFF
• Fuel Selector OFF • Fire Extinguisher OBTAIN
• Ignition Switch OFF CALL FOR ASSISTANCE FROM GROUND CREW
• Flaps AS REQ
• Master Switch OFF Engine Fire In Flight
• Doors UNLATCH • Mixture IDLE CUT‐OFF
• Fuel Selector OFF
Engine Failure During Flight (If Time Permits) • Master Switch OFF *
• Airspeed (V Best Glide) 75 KIAS • Vents/ Cabin Air/ Heat CLOSED (except overhead vents)
• Carburetor Heat ON • Airspeed 100 KIAS
• Best Landing Field CHOSEN • Forced Landing Procedure EXECUTE
• Fuel Selector BOTH * Master Switch BATT side should be ON in Force Landing Procedure
• Mixture FULL RICH
• Throttle IN HALF WAY Electrical Fire In Flight
• Primer IN and LOCKED • Master Switch OFF
• Master Switch CHECK ON • Avionics Power Switch OFF
• Ignition Switch BOTH or START* • All switches (Except Ignition) OFF
* If propeller has stopped • Vents/ Cabin Air/ Heat CLOSED
If Restart Is Unsuccessful Refer To Forced Landing Procedure • Fire Extinguisher OBTAIN & APPLY
Emergency Landing Without Engine Power (Forced Landing Procedure) AFTER ELECTRICAL FIRE IS OUT
• Airspeed 75 KIAS (FLAPS UP) • Master Switch ON
65 KIAS (FLAPS DOWN)
• Best Landing Field CONFIRMED • Circuit Breakers CHECK (don’t reset circuit)
• Mixture IDLE CUT‐OFF • Radio Switches OFF
• Fuel Selector OFF • Avionics Power Switch ON
• Ignition switch OFF • Radio and Elec. Switch ON (one by one at a time)
• Landing Gear Lever DOWN (UP if terrain is rough or soft) • Vents/ Cabin Air/ Heat OPEN
• Flaps AS REQ (30° recommended) LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
• Transponder 7700
• ATC ADVISE Cabin Fire
• Master Switch OFF • Master Switch OFF
• Doors UNLATCH PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN • Vents/ Cabin Air/ Heat CLOSED
• Touchdown SLIGHTLY TAIL LOW • Fire Extinguisher OBTAIN & APPLY
• Brakes APPLY HEAVILY AFTER CABIN FIRE IS EXTINGUISHED
• Vents/ Cabin Air/ Heat OPEN
GO AROUND PROCEDURE LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
• Throttle FULL POWER
• Carburetor Heat OFF Wing Fire
• Flaps Retract to 20° • Nav Light OFF
• Landing Gear Lever UP (POSITIVE RATE) • Pitot‐Heat OFF
• Climb 65 KIAS • Perform sideslip to keep flame away from the fuel tank and cabin
• Flaps (Until obstacles are cleared) Retract to 10° LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
• Flaps (After obstacles are cleared) UP
• Cowl Flaps OPEN For Below Abnormality Refer To POH
• Elevator Trim AS REQUIRED • PRECAUTIONARY LANDING WITH ENGINE POWER
Execute MAP (IFR) or Offset Runway above 500 Ft AGL (VFR) • DITCHING
• STATIC AND VACUUM SYSTEM FAILURE
Spin Recovery • LANDING GEAR MALFUNCTION PROCEDURES
• Throttle IDLE • ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM MALFUNCTION
• Ailerons NEUTRAL
• Rudder APPLY OPPOSITE OF ROTATION ICING
• Relief back pressure on control wheel to break the stall • Pitot‐Heat ON
• Hold these control inputs until rotation stops STATIC SOURCE BLOCKAGE
• Rudder APPLY NEUTRAL • ALT STATIC Air Valve PULL ON
• Smoothly recover from dive (Resume normal operation) (For Other Emergency Procedures Refer to POH)
