Year 9 Geography of Interconnections

HOW CONNECTED ARE YOU?


Some people are well connected to other people and places around the globe. Others are
isolated or live in remote locations and other places have minimal influence on their lives.
This task will help you evaluate how connected you are to the rest of the world.

TASK 1: PLAN
Create 10 questions that help to define you. The answer to these questions needs to be a
person, place, good, hobby or activity. Some examples have been listed below but feel
free to create 10 of your own.

1. Where were you born?


2. Where were your family members born?
3. Where have you been on holiday?
4. Where would you like to visit when allowed to travel overseas?
5. Do you have any friends who live overseas? Where?
6. Where is your favourite clothing brand manufactured?
7. Where is your school uniform manufactured?
8. Where is the headquarters of the brand of the shoes you wear?
9. Where is the origin of your favourite food?
10. Where was your favourite movie filmed?
11. Where does your favourite music artist live?
12. Where is the origin of your favourite sport?
13. Where is the origin of your favourite game?
14. Where was your mobile phone produced?
15. Where is your favourite car manufactured?

TASK 2: RESEARCH
Answer your chosen 10 questions. Each answer needs to be a specific place, town, city,
region or country.

TASK 3: CREATE
Your teacher will give you an A3 blank world map.
Use this to map your connections with the globe.
You need to include a description and image for each answer to your chosen questions.

TASK 4: PRESENT
Present your map to your peers in groups of 4-5.
