Read Module 8 (“WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN”). Answer the “application
questions” below. Be brief/precise, authentic, sincere. Use your own opinion and conclusion.
(50 Points)

1. What is Effective calling?

Effective calling as the word implies, is when God strongly calls believers, making them believe
in Him. It's like God inviting people to be close to Him and live with Him forever.

2. What is General Calling and the Gospel Call?

Again, just like the first question the term is the same as it implies—general calling and the
Gospel call are like telling everyone about God and Jesus. General calling is talking to
everyone, but not everyone might listen. We can’t really expect everyone to believe but we do
hope for it. The Gospel call is sharing the good news about Jesus. When God effectively calls,
people really listen and believe.

3. What is the job of believers and what is the job of God in the gospel call?
At one time, in a bible study, we were asked to contemplate the question “what is your mission
as a Christian?” We had a variety of answers but the main one was to share the words God.
Believers' job is to tell people about God, but it's God who makes the message powerful.
Believers share the good news, and God makes sure it really makes a difference in people's
hearts.

4. What are the 3 elements of the gospel call?

● Explanation of the facts concerning salvation.
● Invitation to respond to Christ personally in repentance and faith.
● Promise of forgiveness and eternal life.

5. How is the Call Received?

The call is received through regeneration, a secret act of God imparting new spiritual life, as
described in Ezekiel 36:26. This change results in a transformed heart, leading to a transformed
character and life. And this reminds me of 3 pastors I know who had a new life and was
transformed for the better when they found God.

6. How is the Call Responded To?

The call is responded to through conversion, where individuals, in a personal and willing
manner, repent of their sins and place their trust in Christ for salvation. True belief in Jesus
involves personally trusting Him for forgiveness and eternal life.

7. What is repentance?
Repentance means a conscious decision to turn away from sin, acknowledging one's need for
forgiveness and a change of heart and mind. Basically it’s sincerely saying “sorry.”
8. Can you explain what it means to truly believe in Jesus? What does it mean to truly
repent of sins?
Truly believing in Jesus involves not just acknowledging facts but personally trusting Him for
forgiveness and eternal life. Repentance means consciously turning away from sin and turning
to Christ for forgiveness, recognizing one's inability to save oneself.

9. In what ways can Christians give evidence of their belief in Jesus?

Evidence of belief in Jesus can be seen in a transformed life, including love for God and His
people, obedience to His commands, and the manifestation of Christ-like character traits.
Christians continue to walk in faith throughout their lives, as stated in Colossians 2:6. Although
we can’t really expect everyone to transform easily, God is forgiving enough to give us many
chances.
