Development of Socialist Theories

The string of socialist began shortly before the French revolu on. In discussing the theory of
socialism we know today.
(1) Jean Jacques Rousseau: Rousseau was not a socialist but his ideas provided the
theore cal founda on for the study and understanding of the new idea of socialism.
His idea was re ected in form of organic society which provides premise for
socialism.
Rousseau see’s socialism as a union within the society or group, based on this
assump on by Rousseau,
That the value of accomplishment can be measured by the amount of bene ts the
society derives from them.
That socialism encourages individuals as much as they can for the society.
Through the sprit of social consusinesses individuals share their products with the
society at large, so as to get the greatest bene ts for society to achieve the best possible
life.

(2)Noel Babeuf: Noel was history’s rst socialist because he lived throughout the stages
of French revolu on, he argued that the French revolu on would fall short of its goals of
liberty equality and fraternity.
Noel suggested that the need to have another revolu on in France that would promote
in French that would promote social jus ce for the common people.
Based on Noel’s philosophy socialism is divided into two

and man is moral.
