A study from Jan’23 reveals…

... that about 90% of U.S. college students used ChatGPT to support
them with their homework assignments and more than 50% used it to
generate essays.

students love it, educators not fans. University Business.

Artificial Intelligence in a Nutshell

Imagine a computer that can learn and solve problems like a human,
but way faster. That's AI in a nutshell! It's like having a super-smart
helper that can handle all sorts of tasks, from recognizing faces to
writing poems.

Think of it this way:

• Brain = Computer: Both can process information and learn.
• Neurons = Algorithms: These are the "rules" that AI uses to make
decisions.
• Thoughts = Data: The more data AI has, the smarter it gets.

Large Language Models

… such like ChatGPT, Google Bard, or LLaMA…

… are models trained on immense amounts of (mostly textual) data

(webpages, books, reports, chats, social media, …), accessible via an
Chat interface.

And right now, they are mostly free to use.

Generate HTML Code

Implications
• Works also for PHP, SQL, Javascript, …
• With some try-and-error iterations it will work almost without any
human adaptions
• However, understanding of the architecture is still important
• It’s free to use
• Ban or Embrace?
• What should we teach the students exactly?
• How are we going to evaluate students’ solutions in future?
• What are we going to evaluate?
