(©. film) INDIRECT RADIOGRAPHY, Radiography in which the recording is effected after transfer of the information obtained at an image reception area (ie. digital imaging system). DIRECT RADIOSCOPY (Fluoroscopy) Radioscopy in which the visible images are presented at the image reception area, or close to it, in the radiation beam (e. luoroscope or image intensifier with a non-digital imaging system). INDIRECT RADIOSCOPY (Fluoroscopy) | Radioscopy in which the images are presented after transfer of the information so that they can be viewed from outside the radiation beam (ie. digital imaging system with a flat-panel detector or with an image intensifier and a CCD camera). REFERENCE AIR KERMA RATE ‘Air Kerma of the primary X-ray beam measured under specific conditions and expressed as an equivalent value at the interventional reference point PATIENT ENTRANCE REFERENCE POINT | A point intended to represent the intersection of the X- ray beam axis with the entrance surface of the patient. ISOCENTRE, In radiological equipment with several modes of movement of the reference axis around a common centr, the centre of the smallest sphere through which the radiation beam axis passes. ENTRANCE FIELD SIZE Diameter of the field in the entrance plane that can be Used for transmission of an X-ray image receptor that can be used for the transmission of an X-ray pattern under specific conditions. Note: The above definitions were derived from document IEC60788. 14.2.0 INTENDED USE The Indico 1@® X-ray generator and accessories were designed to be integrated into a complete X-Ray system for use by trained Medical Professionals (Radiologists, Radiology Technicians, and Medical Physicists) in a Professional Healthcare Environment (Hospital, Medical Clinics, small private practice). The generator and optional accessories are stationary components intended for use with other diagnostic equipment found in an examination room for Hospital and Clinical Grade Radiographic X-ray procedures, and they provide and control the power delivered to the X-Ray tube. The generator is not provided with an X-Ray tube therefore cannot fulfil the medical purpose without frst being integrated into an X-Ray system. These products are intended to be permanently installed by qualified individuals in a healthcare facilty, wihich would typically include shiolded lead rooms to protect operators, patients, and the environment from unwanted radiation exposure. The control console, where the operator programs the X-ray exposure, is Usually located outside the radiation-protected area. To work with X-ray radiation-producing equipment in Clinical applications, both the facility and the equipment operator must be granted a license according to local regulations. Use and disclosure is subject to the restrictions on the title page of this CP! document. Page 14-2 Rev.U Indico 1 Service Manual Ch # 902975-02 CPI Canada Inc. Introduction 1A 10.20 103.0 INTENDED USE (Cont) WARNING: INSTALLING OR OPERATING THE EQUIPMENT IN A MANNER INCONSISTENT WITH] THE INTENDED USE OR INTENDED USE ENVIRONMENT, INSTALLING AND] SERVICING THE EQUIPMENT IN A MANNER INCONSISTENT WITH THE SERVICE| MANUAL OR RELATED REWORK INSTRUCTIONS, OR INSTALLING, SERVICING, OR] OPERATING THE EQUIPMENT BY UNQUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS MAY RESULT IN AN| INCREASED RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, FIRE, OR RADIATION HAZARDS, AS WELL AS A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE EQUIPMENT'S ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE. ‘NOTE: ANY SERIOUS INCIDENT RELATED TO THE USE OF THE INDICO IQ® X-RAY GENERATOR RESULTING IN THE DETERIORATION OF HEALTH TO THE USER AND/OR PATIENT ‘SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE X-RAY SYSTEM MANUFACTURER AND TO THE LOCAL REGULATORY OR COMPETENT AUTHORITIES IN WHICH THE USER OR PATIENT RESIDE. INCIDENTS INVOLVING THE CPI X-RAY GENERATOR OR ACCESSORIES WILL BE INVESTIGATED AND ADDRESSED COOPERATIVELY WITH THE X-RAY SYSTEM MANUFACTURER. RESIDUAL RISK The following residual risks cannot reasonably be controlled through the design, implementation of protective measures, or information for safety. The control of these residual risks is delegated to the original equipment manufacturer's customer, who is also the System Designer and Integrator. + Depending on the customer's implementation, the Emergency Power OFF (EPO) input does not shut down the rest of the system, resulting in high voltage being applied to the peripheral equipment even though the generator was tuned off, posing a high voltage hazard to the Installer or Service Person. A ‘complementary hazard exists when the (EPO) input uncontrollably shuts down the peripheral ‘equipment, potentially injuring the patient, operator, bystander, installer, or service person, ‘© Improper grounding could result in a potential shock hazard. Installers and Service Personnel must take care to properly install all ground cables required by the generator. ‘+ Covers that are not property installed after installation or service, leaving exposed high voltage areas. ‘+ There is a residual risk of harm to the patient, operator, bystander, installer, service personnel, and ‘operating environment from fumes or hot particies exiting through vent holes in the cabinet, which could ‘cause respiratory discomfort or skin burns if the mains fuses do not open during a fault. CPI strongly advises the customer to ensure that the electrical distribution that feeds the generator is properly fused in accordance with the local electrical safety code, ‘+The patient, operator, bystander, installer, service personnel, and operating environment are all at risk as a result of the X-ray tube overheating and rupturing or leaking hot oil as a result of incorrect X-ray tube operation. The installer or service personnel must ensure that all expected operating modes of the X-Ray tube, as driven by the generator, are within the X-Ray tube's capability. For example, if the measured supply voltage on a 50 kW generator is 342 VAC de-rate the maximum output power of the generator to 40 kW. De-rating does not change the grounding and input power requirements in section 1C.2.5, which must satisfy the specifications for the generator model number. Service Disconnect (All Models) Refer to the previous table for the recommended service disconnect ratings for the Indico IQ® series of X- ray generators. GROUND REQUIREMENTS POWER LINE: ‘= Asuitable ground must be connected from the main disconnect switch to the main ground connection on the generator, located below the input distribution board. The ground wire is typically part ofthe line cord, and the current capacity of the ground conductor must be equal to or greater than that of the line conductors, + If @ neutral line is provided with the system, under no circumstances is it to be used for ground purposes. The ground conductor only may carry fault currents X-RAY TUBE HOUSING: ‘+ A copper ground cable, #10 AWG (6 mn‘) or greater, is to be connected from each X-ray tube's housing to the HV module's ground slud located at the top of the HV module. X-ray Stator Drive Cable Requirements ‘The X-ray stator cable used with the low speed starter 2/dual speed starter 2 assembly must meet the following requirements: ‘+ The cable must be shielded, and the shield ground must be connected to the generator chassis ground and to the tube housing ground, ‘+ The cable must be rated to at least 600 VAC. ‘+ The maximum total cable capacitance (from the inner conductors shorted together to the cable shield) must be less than 5.1 nF. For example, a cable type 8618 made by Belden has a capacitance of 4.1 nF for 26 meters. STATOR CABLE CAPACITANCE MUST NOT EXCEED 5.1 nF. IF LONGER CABLES ARE NEEDED, THEN A CABLE WITH LOWER CAPACITANCE PER UNIT LENGTH] ‘MUST BE USED. Use and disclosure is subject to the restrictions on the title page of this CP! document.
