Dear members of the AUB community,

It is my pleasure to announce the new President’s Merit Scholarship program. This

new merit-based scholarship will be awarded to several top incoming students across
all faculties who have distinguished themselves both inside and outside the
classroom and have a proven commitment to the pursuit of excellence for the greater
good. Scholarships will be awarded to up to 10 students in each faculty, starting in
the academic year 2024-25 for new, incoming undergraduate students (freshman,
sophomore, or medical).
Scholars will be chosen based on academic distinction as evidenced by high school
grades and SAT scores as well as substantive evidence of leadership and impact in
both their schools and communities. Potential awardees will first be identified through
the university’s admissions process based on their submitted applications and
composite scores. They will then be invited to apply for the President’s Merit
scholarship by submitting additional information, including essays detailing the nature
and merit of their academic, personal, and leadership achievements, with attendant
evidence.

The President’s Merit Scholars will be part of a growing community of like-minded

citizen leaders who are altruistic, highly accomplished, and share an abiding
commitment to use their talents to make a difference and effect positive change, both
during their university years and well beyond. Please refer to the President’s Merit
Scholarship website for more detailed information on the criteria and procedures. I
look forward to welcoming the first cohort of President’s Merit Scholars in fall 2024.
