Chapter 1
Introduction
• Marketing can be defined as the set of controllable marketing variable that is the
four Ps of marketing (Product, Price, Place and Promotion) that the firm blends to
produce the response it wants in the target market.
• The marketing includes everything the firm can do to influence the demand for its
product.
• The marketing is the combination of product, price, place and promotion for any
business venture.
1.Product
o Your customer only cares about one thing: what your product or service can do
for them. Because of this, prioritize making your product the best it can be and
optimize your product lines accordingly.
2. Price
• Price a product higher than competitors to create the impression of a higher-quality
offering.
• Price a product similar to competitors, then draw attention to features or benefits other
brands lack.
• Price a product lower than competitors to break into a crowded market or attract
valueconscious consumers.
• Plan to raise the price after the brand is established or lower it to highlight the value of
an updated model.
• Set the base price higher to make bundling or promotions more appealing
3. Promotion
Promotion is the part of the marketing mix that the public notices most. It includes
television and print advertising, content marketing, coupons or scheduled discounts,
social media strategies, email marketing, display ads, digital strategies, marketing
communication, search engine marketing, public relations and more.
For example:
• A customer sees an in-store promotion and uses their phone to check prices and read
reviews.
• They view the brand’s website, which focuses on a unique feature of the product.
• The brand has solicited reviews addressing that feature. Those reviews appear on
highranking review sites.
• The customer buys the product and you’ve sent a thank you email using marketing
automation.
4. Place
Where will you sell your product? The same market research that informed your
product and price decisions will inform your placement as well, which goes beyond
physical locations. Here are some considerations when it comes to place:
5. People
People refers to anyone who comes in contact with your customer, even indirectly, so
make sure you’re recruiting the best talent at all levels—not just in customer service
and sales force.
Here’s what you can do to ensure your people are making the right impact on your customers:
• Develop your marketers’ skills so they can carry out your marketing mix strategy
• Think about company culture and brand personality.
• Hire professionals to design and develop your products or services.
• Focus on customer relationship management, or CRM, which creates genuine
connections and inspires loyalty on a personal level
6. Packaging
• Design for differentiation: A good design helps people recognize your brand at a
glance, and can also highlight particular features of your product. For example, if
you’re a shampoo company, you can use different colors on the packaging to label
different hair types.
• Provide valuable information: Your packaging is the perfect place for product
education or brand reinforcement. Include clear instructions, or an unexpected
element to surprise and delight your customers.
• Add more value: Exceed expectations for your customers and give them well-
designed, branded extras they can use, like a free toothbrush from their dentist, a free
estimate from a roofer, or a free styling guide from their hairdresser
7. Process
• The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulates the packaging of
all food products in India.
• All food products sold in India that are prepackaged must comply with the Food
Safety and Standards (Packaging and labeling) Regulations, 2011.
• The Food Safety and Standards Regulation, 2011 is a notification issued by the Food
Safety and Standards Authority of India under the Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare.
Chapter 2
• Objectives:
3. To analyze how well the companies are able to gain customer loyalty.
1. Consumer Protection
3. Product Information
4. Environment Impact
Industry profile
1. The entry of water vapor in the Lay’s Chips bags is prevented by filling the pack with
dry gas. Quality deterioration of the chips is inhibited by adding nitrogen gas into the
bag.
2. Using nitrogen gas over oxygen gas aids in the freshness, texture, and color
presentation of the product and prevents oxidative rancidity.
3. As one may notice, when the bag is opened and exposed to oxygen for an extended
period, the chips become stale, which is the cause for their deterioration in quality.
• The packaging consists of four layers -
• A polymer material called Bi-axially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) is used for the
innermost layer.
• BOPP material is covered by a Low-density Polyethylene (LDPE) for greater strength
and resistance against the exterior surroundings.
• Another layer of BOPP then follows this. Lay’s Chips then uses Surlyn on the
outermost layer, which is made from thermoplastic resin. This material strengthens
and serves as a protective barrier against penetration, sealed with the heat at low
temperatures. • The Lay’s company follows Division 23 of the Food and Drug Act in
Canada when packaging their products. Additional regulatory rules are enforced for
the food and packaging safety under Division 24, 25, and 28.
• Any packaging material for products produced after 2014 needs to be registered on
the Government of Canada website and is closely monitored by the Canadian Food
Inspection Agency (CFIA). Manufacturers do not need to pre-register but need to
double-check the accuracy of the list as it was updated in 2016.
• Global packaging distribution mix of Coca-Cola’s products by type 2022. Roughly 47
percent of Coca-Cola’s packaging was plastic bottles (primarily PET) in 2022. This
was followed by aluminum and steel cans, which accounted for almost 26 percent of
Coca-Cola’s packaging mix.
o The Coca-Cola company utilizes PVC label films for its product packaging,
which may be due to their high physicochemical durability.
• The importance of PVC-based plastics in our daily lives has necessitated the need for
their recycling into biochar through various thermochemical processes.

Conclusion
Chapter 7
Suggestions
• We take food hygiene very seriously and are keen to leave no stone unturned as far as
food delivery is concerned.
• In fact, we’ve been at it for a while now; it’s imperative we cover all aspects. After
all, consumers deserve to receive food that’s as good as it was when it was prepared in
the kitchen. Which is why, going forward, you’ll see the implementation of what we’d
like to call Zomato Safely Sealed.
• In other words, more and more Zomato food deliveries will be completed using 100%
safely sealed tamper-proof packages.
• For starters, these sealed packages will come in two sizes: small and large. The large
ones are capable of carrying 2-4 large boxes while the smaller ones are convenient for
1-2 food item boxes. The versatility of the packaging design allows for efficient
utilization of the space.
• Once the restaurant seals the package before it is dispatched, the only way to break the
seal is by cutting off the top-end strip.
• There is no other way to access the food inside, making the tamper-proof packaging
trustworthy. And if consumers find the safety seal open, then they are advised not to
accept the delivery.
So far, we have piloted this initiative in 10 cities (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru,
Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Nagpur and Vadodara) and the response has
been very encouraging, with more than 5,000 restaurants already on-board. So much so, we
are covering 25% of our order volume from these cities with tamper-proof packages. Over
three million tamper-proof packages have already been shipped to restaurants, and going by
the current run rate, we will increase this figure by 3x by April, as we will introduce this
packaging across 25 more cities in India.
Over time, we’ll be scaling up this change, so there is no ambiguity with food safety. We
understand that the safety seals are made from plastic however we take consolation in the fact
that each package is made from single material polymer with 50 microns thickness, and are
completely reusable/recyclable. In the not-so-distant future, we will move towards a
biodegradable option.
