SEMI–DETAILED LESSON PLAN

GRADE 7 MATHEMATICS
SECOND QUARTER

Time Allotted: 1 hour Date: 08/12/17

I. TOPIC: Classification of Angles
II. Learning outcomes:
At the end of the discussion, the students should be able to:
1. Differentiate the various types of angles and determine the measure of the
given angle using protractor, and;
2. Appreciate the significance of angles in real world situations
III. Method
1. Discovery method
2. Collaborative method
IV.Materials:
1. Protractor
2. Cardboard
3. Pictures
4. Fastener
V. Evaluation tool/ Assessment Tools: Paper and Pencil Test and Oral Recitation

A. Developmental Activities
1. Drill
“Who am i?”
I am a polygon with three sides. I can be found in a pyramid and in a relationship. Who am I?
I am a four sided polygon. My sides are congruent and perpendicular to each other. Who am I?
I am a six sided polygon with all sides are congruent. Who am I?

2. Motivation
Give each pair of student two pieces of card board and show them how to connect their
corners using paper fastener. This makes students manipulate the card board to form any type of
angles. Show an illustration of an acute, right and obtuse angle on the board but do not label
them. Students will likely discover that the angle between 0 and 90 are acute angles, angles
exactly 90 are right angles and angles between 90 and 180 are called obtuse angles.

3. Activity (Group Activity)

The class will be divided into two groups. The first group will be the one to tell the angle
to be demonstrated and the second group will do the action. After the first group, the two groups
will interchange their task. Each group will be given 5 minutes to show all the given angles. The
group with more correct answers will be the winner.

4. Abstraction
Classification of Angles
According to Angle Measurements
1. Zero Angle – is an angle that measures exactly zero degree.

2. Acute Angle – is an angle that the measurement is between 0 and 90 degrees.

3. Right Angle – is an angle that measures exactly 90 degrees.

4. Obtuse Angle – is an angle that the measurement is between 90 and 180 degrees.

5. Straight Angle – is an angle that measures exactly 180 degrees.

6. Reflex Angle – is an angle that the measurement is between 180 and 360 degrees.
7. Complete Angle (Perigon) – is an angle that measures exactly 360 degrees.

According to Angle Pairs

1. Complementary Angles – are angles which sum is 90 degrees.

2. Supplementary Angles – are angles which sum is 180 degrees.

3. Adjacent Angles – is an angle that has a common vertex and common side but no
common interior points.

4. Linear Pair – are adjacent angles that are also supplementary.

5. Vertical Angles – nonadjacent angles formed by two intersecting lines. Vertical angles
are congruent.

5. Analysis

a. name two acute angles

b. one right angle
c. two obtuse angles
d. one straight angle
e. one reflex angle
6. Application
Direction: Identify the type of angle shown in the picture.

a.
e.

b.

c.

d.
B. Generalization

An angle is the amount of turn between two straight lines that have a common end
point (the vertex).

There are 2 classification of angles; first based on their angle measurement and lastly is
based on their angle pair.

We have 7 types of angles based on their measurements;

a. Zero Angle
b. Acute angle
c. Right angle
d. Obtuse angle
e. Reflex angle
f. Straight angle
g. Complete angle(pedigon)

And we have 5 types of angle based on the angle pair;

a. Complementary angle
b. Supplementary angle
c. Linear pair
d. Vertical angle
e. Adjacent angle
C. Evaluation

a) Name all the acute angles.

b) Name all the right angles.
c) Name all the obtuse angles.
D. Assignment
1. Enumerate the classification of angles and give it’s meaning.
2. Draw different angles using the given measurement.
a. 78
b. 136
c. 278
d. 294
