Service7450 – Working with the List of Errors

1 Introduction

All the ESX master controls of the ECOS (i.e. ESX's 3, 0 and 4) manage a list of errors, which can be
read through and deleted with Software Service7450. The control systems store the errors, which have
occurred during operation on shutdown in the EEPROM. Therefore, the list of errors in Servic7450
always shows two lists of errors. One list shows the current errors, which have occurred since the
ignition was started. The other list shows the errors stored in the EEPROM.

ESX’s 0 (superstructure master) and 4 (carrier master) store all errors, which have occurred for the
respective functional unit (superstructure or carrier). Therefore if, for example, one of the digital inputs
of ESX 2 is defective, this error is stored at ESX 0, as ESX 2 is part of the superstructure functional
unit. On the other hand, an error in IO board 1 is stored in ESX 4.

ESX 3 (in the cab) has a special job. Not only does it store all the errors, which are part of the cab
functional unit, but it also stores all of the errors of the superstructure and carrier functional units. ESX
3 therefore stores all the errors of the entire ECOS. The errors indicated in the 'Current errors' list
therefore correspond to the errors indicated on the display in the cab.
Note:
The current errors (and not those already stored) of the superstructure and carrier functional units
are transmitted via CAN bus to ESX 3. However, the errors can only be transmitted if the control
systems are connected as well. If, for example, the crane is started from the carrier, ESX 3 does not
start up. Then ESX 4 is not connected to ESX 3. All errors, which now occur at ESX 4, are
therefore not transmitted to ESX 3 and cannot be stored there either. These errors can also only be
interrogated during subsequent system starts in ESX 4’s "Stored errors" list of errors (and not via
ESX 3). The same applies if the superstructure is started via the emergency control box.

2 List of errors of the various functional units

2.1 ESX 3 - Cab

If the list of errors in Service4075 is opened while the laptop is connected to the cab (ESX 3), the following window is
shown:

As the register already shows, all of errors, which can also be seen on the display, are listed here.
The current errors are interrogated by pressing the button "Read list of errors".

All of the errors, which have occurred since the system started are listed. The last error to have occurred is at the top. The
error number and the date and time are listed. The date and time are transmitted by EKS5 to ESX 3. If an entry in the list
does not have a date and time, the error occurred immediately the system was started, so that no details regarding time could
be transmitted by EKS5.

The current errors are deleted by pressing the button "Delete list of errors".
The list shown is stored in a text file by pressing the button "Store in file".
Pressing the button "Copy into clipboard" copies the list shown into the Windows clipboard and it can be inserted from here
e.g. in a word processor (e.g. Microsoft Word).

Clicking the button "Display: stored errors" once activates the list of errors for errors stored in the EEPROM:

To show the errors the button "Read list of errors" must also be pressed first here.

Note:
The list of errors of ESX 3 is limited to a maximum of 96 entries. If further errors occur, the oldest errors will be
overwritten.

2.2 ESX 0 – Superstructure

If the list of errors in Service7450 is opened while the laptop is connected to the superstructure (ESX 0), the following
window is shown:

Operation is similar to that for ESX 3’s list of errors (see Chapter 2.1).
As no information is available in ESX 0 regarding the date and time, other information regarding each error entry is shown
here.
Error number System Start System Time

The entry "System start" is a value, which is increased each time the ECOS is started anew. It is therefore possible to
ascertain whether various errors in the list of errors occurred during the same system start.
The entry "System time" indicates the time the error occurred after the system started. It can therefore be ascertained, for
example, whether a particular error always occurs at the same time after the system is started.

Note:
The list of errors of ESX 0 is limited to a maximum of 32 entries. If further errors occur, the oldest errors will be
overwritten.

2.3 ESX 4 - Carrier

If the list of errors in Service7450 is opened while the laptop is connected to the carrier (ESX 4), the following window is
shown:

Operation is similar to that for ESX 3’s list of errors (see Chapter 2.1).
For information on "System start" and "System time" see Chapter 2.2.

Note:
The list of errors of ESX 4 is limited to a maximum of 32 entries. If further errors occur, the oldest errors will be
overwritten.
